I have a question: my father is type A and my mother is type O, than I am "AO". Your list of foods for type A is to type "AA" and "AO"? There is difference or no?
I read about this difference in a brazilian book. Is there difference, or the foods are the same?

In the Blood Type Diet system of Peter D'Adamo what blood type is expressed by a person (phenotype).

The genotype of a person is ignored.  It does not matter if a person has a recessive gene that is not expressed.

We only want to know what blood type you would measure if you gave blood.

We are interested in what substances would agglutinate the blood.

Reaction only occurs with the expressed blood type.

Chemicals react with what is there they do not look at what genes a person may have that are not expressed.

Dr James D'Adamo, the late father of Dr Peter D'Adamo, did write a book where he distinguished between AA and AO for dietary purposes. That must have been the book you read a while ago.

I'm not as familiar with Dr James' work. I strongly suggest you select one diet and stick with it, to avoid confusing yourself.

Dr Peter D'Adamo wrote a series of books targeting different health conditions; one of them being cancer. You may want to get ahold of that book and follow that instead of the regular food lists. There are some foods that, while OK for As in general, are not a good choice for As with cancer. Similarly, there are some foods that, while being bad for As in general, are helpful for As with cancer. Mostly this works by the lectins (or other chemical properties in the  foods) damaging the cancer cells, when they'd otherwise damage healthy cells.

I will buy this book about Cancer.
I have the book about Menopause, is very interesting.

I have avoid meat and milk.
And I'm using soy milk and 'textured soy protein'.
I ate mmuch tomato, but now, no more.
My hands and feet sweating a lot, but it's reducing.

Sorry if I write some wrong words, but my english isn't very good.

Stela please do not use the textured soy protein-- please use tofu and tempeh as your soy products.

Soy protein is a processed food, better to use the real thing.

Oh, I thinking that was eating the best food.
I eat tofu, but I don't like it.
I drink soy milk, but the industrialized.
I never eat the soy grain. I will try a recipe with it.
And about wheat grain? Can I eat?
I reduce meat and bread, banana, papaya, tomato.
I know coconut is harmful, but the coconut water too?
I live in a place where coconut water is a very popular drink, and I like it, but I don't drinking it.

Coconut water has not been evaluated. Some people say "it's like coconut milk and meat so we shouldn't drink it." Others say "it's untested so it's neutral." Dr D himself has not given his opinion.

I would suggest not drinking coconut water right now, when you have a health problem. Maybe try it in a few months, when you're healthier, and see how your body responds to it.

Remember that soybeans are only one kind of bean.  There are many other beans you can eat too. You should eat a variety of different foods, and not eat the same ones all the time.

Welcome Stela!!!

My Dad is O- and my Mom is I am an Ao, like you.
We need to follow the BTD for A or find your Genotype and follow that. Many Ao people happen to be explorer genotypes. They may need a little more meat protein than other A's. I am a teacher genotype but have many traits in common with explorers. My body needs complete protein everyday in order for me to feel good and function properly. I have found my "balance" of fish or turkey protein and beans and rice/grains or nuts and seeds portions. If I skip one day of eating fish or turkey I am ok, but no more than that! I try to listen to my body and it will not let me be a vegetarian!!!! ;D I love veggies and fruit but have learned to incorporate a variety of foods so I do not eat the same thing everyday. ;)

I forgot to mention...I do not do well with alot of soy foods. I can eat small amounts of soy nuts(roasted beans)and drink some soy milk in my coffee but I prefer almond or rice milk in my smoothies or with cereal.
There are other A's like me, that do not tolerate much soy. ;)

I too had questions about coconut; oil, water and meat.  I was sent this link from Nancy.  It's an article that Dr.D wrote on coconut oil.  If anything it's very interesting.
