[face=Verdana][/face] So...as a B+ Nomad Sec, I can't find anything on pure cream? I'm not sure if USA has a different name they use, but the stuff we get here is just called cream, which is 35% milk fat. My Swami allows stuff like buttermilk, cream cheese, butter, ricotta;...but avoids milk, yogurt, half n half, sour cream.

Where does cream fit in?  :-/

Where does it go? In my fridge, for one place.  ;)
Often people chime in and say, "Assign it the same value as Butter."
I'm okay with that.

I look at the ratings for Milk, Cow-Whole; Milk, Cow-Skim or 2%; Half and half; and Butter.
For me, the Whole and Half/half are total Avoid, the skim and butter are Black Dot.

This tells me that cream is most likely total Avoid because the mix of milk and butterfat is not for me.  For me, getting either component is better than the mix...

If you want the lactose and the sugar (simple carbohydrate), use milk. If you'd rather the fat, use cream.

I just use it 4 or 5 times a year to make butternut squash pies or Chipolte scalloped sweet potatos. Divided out over several serving at potlucks the amount is small.

Sour cream is an avoid for me so I assume, without doubt, that cream is too.

Well since butter is diamond for me and whole fat milk is superfood
i use  it every other day  ;D
Just look at your source get good pastured heavy cream with no additives.

Only avoids for me is blue cheese and a few other strange cheeses.

Well I'm not going to assume where it goes. All of these types or dairy have such different components to em...like I'm allowed buttermilk but not milk, cream cheese but not sour cream...all of these I would've thought were quite similar but are on different ends of the list! Bit stuck...

For whom milk is an avoid (like me), cream would be an avoid as well, as it still contains a high percentage of milk, evidently making it harmful enough.  ::) :P (drool) (ondrugs)

sometimes my B-part takes grip over me and I follow it's demands.. cream..cream..yeeehhhaaa heavy fatty cream... wunneful.. the best laxants I've ever taken ;)... :o :-/ :B(evil)(evil)

Most of the whey is removed from the cream in the making of butter.  If the whey is the reason for the avoid status of the milk, then the you have to make a decision about whether to use the cream, or to pass.

I really wish he'd rated heavy cream instead of half n half. We could easily deduce the half n half rating by looking at cream and milk!

In the absence of other information, I'd either go with the rating or half and half or for sour cream. In your case, both are avoids, so cream is too.

There is DEFINITELY a difference between cream and  butter. A few years ago, I was completely dairy-free for a few months. I re-introduced butter and had no reactions, so I kept that in my diet. Then I had some heavy cream in my coffee (this was pre-BTD) and immediately felt congested. It happened within half an hour of ingestion, and lasted a few days.

I don't know how I'd react to heavy cream NOW, since I'm no longer consuming other avoids such as coffee and coconut milk, but that little experiment made it clear to me that cream and butter are NOT the same thing in the body.

Remember that SWAMI is a tool, and it's up to us how we want to use it. Not everybody needs or wants to be 100% compliant. If you choose to consume cream, that's your choice. Just be aware that you're not following SWAMI properly when you do so.

It is a good thing you aren't me or my brother, Amazone! The "laxant" effect would follow the awful "nauseant" effect!!LOL

Cream does contain some milk because when you make butter you still have some buttermilk.

Heavy cream is PART of whole milk. It's basically the fatty portion of whole milk, and when it's is removed, you're left with skim milk.

Yes, in an ideal world & maybe in some countries... But, as the ratings were from an American source, I'd hazard a guess that they are not the same animal really...?! ::) Even in NZ, pretty well all the cream is removed from the milk, so they can sell it back & make more profit :-/ ??)

Milk contains both skim milk and cream. When the cream is separated from the whole milk, sometimes traces of the "skim milk" part remain in the cream, and other times it's separated more thoroughly. Still, the butter-making process removes the watery part of the cream, making it compliant for many more people than the cream itself. And turning butter into ghee makes it compliant for every single blood type and genotype (although some individuals may not do well with it.)

No, I wasn't saying that... But the regular milk you buy, sure tastes quite thin anyway so it may as well be... ::) We got raw milk recently & you could taste the creamy milky taste that I was used to as a kid, where the cream would rise to the top!! No cream rises on the milk now &  I doubt it is just because it is homogenised, because even the non-homogenised organic one I can get doesn't have that much cream...

There are different varieties of cows, with differing fat content in their milk. I also think that the cow's diet can affect fat levels too.

I was never a real dairy lover.. I don't even like ice cream that much..I just ate cheese...but I'm a grain lover...wheat..the most.  Dr. D never took me off wheat. He thinks I'm ok on wheat but I myself feel sluggish on wheat. I'm trying to cut back at least.  I would go off it ok and then when under stress it's  a comfort food...

there is hardly any lactose or casein (protein) in cream, so it may work better than milk or yoghurt. The other issue to consider with dairy is how it affects the liver, gall bladder, pancreas! and does it produce excessive mucus in your own system, wihich then may clog up the colon, sinuses and lead to a cold, flu? or just make one feel a bit slowed down and gloggy!  I love double cream myself, but only a small amount at a time. And in Ayurvedic philosophy, dairy foods pacify vata - ie calm the nervous system, many people are told to drink milk to induce a good night's sleep!.. Raw goat's milk is ok for me, it is unpasteurised and nice to drink warmed up with a little ground spice ie tumeric, cumin, cinnamon or aniseed mixed in.
