I find the recommendations for soy and soy products to be puzzling. Soy beans are considered neutral for me; however, soy milk and soy oil should be avoided.  Same for other soy products such as tofu and soy sauce. Odd.

Why aren't soy beans themselves considered an Avoid?

It sounds like it is all about whether the whole bean is there or whether you are trying to utilize just a part of it...  In other words, when the bean is whole, all of its parts work together to be food value, but when you attempt to use just parts, it isn't good for your system...

You would agree that soy oil and soy beans are two different foods with completely different nutrient profiles?

Much like the chicken and the egg, while they are related to each other there is no reason to think the food rating would be the same as there are significant differences between the two. Sometimes process changes the food, such as sprouting or fermenting.

if using soy beans, make sure are organic and not genetically modified.  Soy oil is not always fresh plus has high omega 6 fats which is pro inflammatory.  Type A and AB may utilise a little more soy than other types??  The soy bean is still a legume (starch and protein) and may not digest well in some people's guts, plus all cooked food also increases starch, so some people are starch intolerant and would maybe only tolerate a little miso (or other fermented/cultured soy product) which is fermented/pre digested.  Soy milk is not a balanced food in terms of the minerals and other macro nutrients, not fresh, it is a processed product and may have been on shelf for a long time.  Your body may tell you if you should eat it or not.

I have no idea what everyone else is talking about.

It is relatively simple in some cases. For example lets say soy oil isn't good for you, but soy beans offer other things that are. Well obviously there is soy oil in a soy bean, but not a significant amount to matter. It could very well be offset by perhaps the high quality protein being more valuable than the intake of minuscule soy oil in the soy bean.

Going by the BTD recommendations tamari, or soy sauce made without wheat, is fine.
