Hi everyone, I'm new to this forum and this is my first post.

I am a B and am new to this diet and cannot wait to get started to see how my body responds.  I was a vegetarian for 4 years but about 6 months ago, began eating fish a few times a week.  In addition, a few months ago, I started eating omelettes everyday.  I feel that good things are happening and to be honest, I feel my mental acuity is improving.  Dairy and Fish protein, woah!

But besides that, I was doing all the WRONG things!  Chickpeas, tomatoes, lentils, all the avoids.  It's amazing how I need to rethink my entire diet.  I'm an Indian Canadian guy and I love cooking Indian food.  Goodbye channa masala, bring on the mutter paneer!!  Next is lamb curry.  Gulp.  OK, Dr. D'Adamo, I'm trusting you!  Let's see what happens...

I have a question about cooking.  I almost always used coconut oil in my cooking as other oils turn toxic at high temps.  Ok, so I guess goodbye to that and I'll replace it with ghee.  Not sure how it's going to taste with my roasted vegetables that I used to cook with balsamic vinegar and coconut oil!  

Balsamic vinegar and ghee?  Really?  That sounds kind of wrong.

Any tips?  What oil  do you guys use to cook with?

Go through your list of allowed beans, and substitute those in all your old recipes. The taste may not be EXACTLY the same, but it should still be delicious.

I don't think balsamic vinegar is on the "OK list" for Bs. Try using lemon juice in its place. I can very easily imagine ghee and lemon juice together!

Wow. ghee and lemon juice.  That actually does sound good!

I love roasting vegetables (and I'll do a search) but any recipes anyone wants to suggest, I'm all ears.  Not corn ears because that's bad, right?   ;D

Welcome to the forums.

It is great that you are seeing positive results quickly.  Nothing like results to stimulate the desire to continue.

If you've never used ghee, I think you are in for a treat.  I make is and use it for all of the frying I do.  It tastes good, allows you to use good heat levels, and helps the gut rebuild, if there is any damage...

Type B is the type that CAN have vinegar (both apple cider and other), but lemon juice is a good alternative to provide some diversity...

Hi Taxman, and welcome!  It's a wonderful life for a type B, once we discover how to eat right for our own type.  :D  Like you, I lived on Avoids for most of my life, as well as eating a vegetarian diet for more than 20 years.  I developed a lot health problems as a result of wrong eating and I first started eating occasional fish.  Finally, I took the plunge and started eating lamb!  Ah, it is my very favorite meat, now!  It's not that I ever really craved meat, but the cells of my body wake up and thrive when I eat lamb.  

I use ghee for all my stir-frying.  Extra Virgin Olive Oil gets drizzled on cooked dishes before eating.

Victoria, amazing!!  That's SO IMPORTANT for me to read right now.  Wow, you're like an affirmation of what I hope to achieve as a B.  I feel good about this diet!

I keep reading good things about ghee and I love that you can cook it at high temperatures.  I used to use it in cooking a while back but somehow got derailed and opted for coconut oil, which I've been ingesting daily for several months.  Wow.  I can't believe it's so bad for me.  But eating according to one's blood type makes perfect sense and if legions of people are swearing by it, I'd be crazy not to try for myself.  The introduction to eggs and fish was a good start.  

By the way, being a vegetarian was boring and I didn't like it.  It's no fun being a social outcast either.  Goodbye tofu!!  (I actually won't miss you!)

I love ghee, SO much!  It is really easy to make, and fills the house with a delicious aroma.  I make mine on the stovetop in a deep, heavy-bottom pot.  Simmer at low heat until the sediment on the bottom turns light golden brown - no stirring or skimming necessary.  When done, just pour through a very fine mesh stainless steel strainer into a glass jar or a ceramic dish with a lid.

I lived on tofu, also.   (dizzy)  Funny thing - the way I coped with being a "vegetarian outcast" was to try and convert all my family and friends to becoming  non-meat eaters.  Well, too bad that after many of them went along with me on that bad idea, I discovered that I had been wrong all along!  (blush)

Ha ha!  My friends/family are going to be shocked when they see me eating meat!  All those links and lecture I gave them - oh man.  I think most will be happy to have me back!

I use ghee and butter to almost all and it taste better too ;)
A little oliveoil once in a while, maybe some macadamianut oil on cold salads.

So simple and easy.

I am one f the lucky Bs that CAN have coconut oil.  ;D
I have a special swami diet where coconut oil is diamond = very good.

I use butter, ghee, and coconut oil. If you ever decide to do Swami and you are Nomad, coconut oil turned to be beneficial for me.

I love my coconut oil.  Oh man.  If I gotta nix that well, so be it.  I'll be crying the blues for a while but I'll get over it.  I've loved and lost girlfriends before so this should be easier.  (((wince)))

Someone pass this vegetarian a piece of leg of lamb, please.   ;D

But maybe  keep it and listening to your body .

A lot of Bs are nomads and they do well with coconut oil.

The oil that we are allowed to use is Olive nothing else ::)

Where do you get the idea that Bs can only eat olive oil?

You can eat the fat from any compliant meat, such as turkey or beef.

You can have butter and ghee.

You can have olive oil, walnut oil, almond oil, rice bran oil, grapeseed oil, and quite a few others.

It is amazing the variety of food and tastes you can concur up without avoids.  When I 1st started this diet 12 yrs ago I tried foods I never thought of eating and some I had never heard of before.  Experiment and find what you like.
