BTD Forums  /  Eat Right 4 Your Type  /  Foods Discrepancies: How to Proceed?

I have purchase 3 of the Dr's books. Eat right, cook right, and the encyclopedia. I have noticed there are some conflictions in what foods i can eat and not eat based on the charts in each (example sesame oil in one book is an avoid and in another book is a neutral). Logic tells me either it was a mistake or further testing demonstrated it was not the cause of a negative reaction. This leads me to believe that the most recently published book has the most current listings of food, is this correct?

If not, what book should I follow? Is there a updated chart with the most current determinations on the foods?

It depends on which diet you are following as to what list you should follow.

Blood Type Diet - use the Typebase4:

Genotype Diet (Change Your Genetic Destiny) - The book.

SWAMI:  The lists generated by the software.

If you aren't going to use SWAMI, find which diet is best for you:

Welcome  erommelus.  How about picking our an avatar from your Member Center?  This added information helps in answering questions about your type.

The first book was written in 1996, and even then had some publishing errors.  Here is a page on this website that answers some questions about differences between some of the books:

Depends on your health issues how deep you chose to go.

I follow an individual SWAMI only after years of the blood type A secretor diet.

I am A+ ... I dont know my secretor/non-sectretor status

I started the BTD last week and I've lost 8 lbs already. I took the quiz and it says I should be one the GTD diet instead, should I swap now or wait? Should I just follow individual Swami?

The SWAMI is the most individualized, so seems to be the best for most people.  Some benefits of switching now are that you get the most benefit of the dietary changes, as well as doing a major diet change just once...  There may still be small changes as you learn more about yourself and make updates to the SWAMI data input...

The only negative I can think of for not changing now would be the expense of doing so, although it is a very reasonable fee for the benefits...

No.  It is an optional input, however, so you could get it for more accuracy.

There is nothing wrong with the BTD if it does what you want it to do.

There are some benefits to GTD. Best of both worlds is to do SWAMI.

One option is to wait a while, and switch to SWAMI if you feel the desire to 'upgrade'.

Since you're doing well on Blood Type Diet, I suggest you stick with this for a few months at least. After 2-3 months, you can re-evaluate and get a SWAMI or switch to GTD at that time- or you may be happy with the A diet by then and stick with it.

I would go with the food ratings in the most recent book- which I believe is the Encylopedia. Or just double-check all food values with the online list of foods. ABJoe gave you the link to Type Base.

Or you could work from LR4YT, printed a couple of years before The Encyclopedia, but is a very user-friendly resource for lifestyle, supplement and diet for following the Blood Type diet.  It's more up to date than the first book, ER4YT.
