I just read an article about organic apples and pears getting a disease "fire blight" and so they are treated with antibiotics to prevent that.
Apparently the plan had been to phase the use of antibiotics out in 2014 but there is a move to delay it until 2016.  I've been eating apples almost daily!

Yikes!!   ??)  How frustrating to learn that organic doesn't mean safe and in all reality means virtually nothing when it comes to specific fruits being tainted with of all things, antibiotics!!  Wonder if this happens with other fruits or veggies.  I eat a lot of apples and pears.....and honestly don't know if my produce is safe to eat or not.  Thanks for sharing Lin.....First I've heard of this!

Important to realize that some pears and apples are more resistant to the blight than others and might
not have to be treated.  Here's a list.
