BTD Forums  /  Supp Right For Your Type  /  anyone using SAM-e?

I am trying SAM-e. I've taken one each morning for 3 days. I know it's too soon to feel a difference. I wonder who has had experience with this supplement and how they rate it. It is supposed to help a lot with arthritic conditions and liver function. I'm 65 and I'd like to get out of a car and stand straight up and walk normal....(if you're older you know what I mean!) ;)

What kind of non-normal walking are you doing, Jayneeo?  :-/ A long time ago I had a pain in one side that sort of messed up my walking a little bit, but that is long gone. I think it was caused from a bad fall I had on that side when I was young. I used to go to the chiropractor for it, but it seemed as soon as I climbed in the car to leave, I was back where I started! Well, the "fix" I've gotten from this diet is not quite so puny! I climb up and down ladders, etc., with no problem at all now. And "now" is ten years later..... Are you sure you don't eat too much sugar? That is the all time, forevermore worst thing for this sort of thing.

I thought SAMe was for depression...to raise serotonin...or am I mixing this up with another product..

My younger son asked me about SAMe....just can't remember if he tried it or if it worked for
him or not, but I'm pretty sure he was interested in this supplement for lifting mood (when
going through his divorce) more than arthritis.

I was wondering if you'd get better results from the NAP joint pack.

Arthritis Protocol

I've been taking SAM-e for a couple of years, but at a much lower dosage than Dr. D recommends.  Looks like I need to up my dose.

I find that it does help with lowering pain and inflammation as well as mood enhancing.  But it is on the Blood Type B protocol.  I don't know its effectiveness for type O's.

Load up on turmeric and boswellia! I take both of them, and they are recommended for O's too. I eat turmeric every single day because I love it, and it is good for so many evils. Or maybe I should say BAD for so many evils.

Chloe, there is supposed to be a serotonin enhancement as well as the primary effect on joints.
Lola, thanks, I've read that thread but need more info.
So, interesting, let's see if any more thoughts come in on this. I have a friend, type O, who loves it.

Can you use MSM?  Is your joint problem your knees?  MSM does help knee issues for me...but don't know about type O responding as well..

I also do well on a product called IFLEX which is 100% rose hips.  And vitamin C plus MSM is even
better taken together.

My son had absolutely no results (I emailed him to find out) with SAMe for mood or for joints.
There might be a blood type specific affinity for some products over others.  I tried Phyloxin
but can't handle the ginger oil...gives me acid reflux...so can't tell you if it is helpful for joint pain or not but I do know boswellia helps me for anything achy.

Note that this says to make sure you have adequate B vitamins when you take SAMe
