BTD Forums  /  The GenoType Diet  /  Gatherer??

Ok, so I am new to the GT diet and the BTD frankly as well.  I was trying out the BTD for the last couple of weeks and generally liked how I felt, so ordered the GT book and read it the last couple days too. I'm not sure I understand the "Strength Meter." When I did the Intermediate GT calculator table, my torso is longer, my upper leg is longer and my index and ring finger are the same so index is considered longer, both hands.  I'm a seamstress so I understand how to do measurements and there are more than inches of difference (besides the fingers), so that's pretty clear and I am type O+. So the calculator clearly says that I am a GT2 Gatherer.  No other options.

But when I answered all the other questions for the strength meter I am the opposite of most of them except 1. I have 4 or more fingerprints that match, I didn't do the PROP test, I don't look "padded" (unless I just don't understand what that means), I don't have the extra molar cusp and I have the shoveled incisors, I have a square-shaped jaw, .74 Waist to Hip Ratio which is totally average and most people would call me mesomorphic, I have a large opening between my upper legs (I always called this bow-legged), and the only one that seems true is that I have 2 or more close relations w/ diabetes, stroke, or high blood pressure.

Am I messed up? I've looked over the book so many times to make sure I'm measuring properly, and looking at all these things correctly, and it just doesn't make sense to me.  I want to start following the diet, but I don't want to get food for the wrong Genotype. Any suggestions?

First you need to determine whether the GenoType diet going to be better suited to your health needs than the blood type diet. Take this quiz to find out:

If you have the data necessary to use the charts at that back of the book (and you indicate that you do), you should use those charts.

You should completely ignore all strength tests.  The strength test are only used when a person does not have enough data to use the advanced calculator tables.

Use the "advanced calculator" at the back of the book. That's the most accurate of all the calculators, and it doesn't' require any strength testing. Only use the strength testing if the advanced calculator isn't clear (if you need information you don't have to decide between two GTs, or if you are unsure of one or more measurements.)

I took the quiz, it said I should follow the Genotype diet by a landslide. Also, the only info I don't have to do the advanced calculations is whether or not I am a secretor, but on the table one in that appendix, both the secretor and non-secretor are Gatherers, so I guess it doesn't matter.  It just seemed odd to me that I was so opposite all the strength testing, but the actual foods in the gatherer diet do make a lot of sense to me as well.

Try the Gatherer diet for a while. It sounds like it is the right thing for now.
On the strength tests, I got the most points on Nomad, but that is impossible cuz I am an O.
At least your calculator gave a clear answer, not like some of us!
Enjoy the GT & this forum!!

Rgp, here is what Dr D told another slim gatherer once:
"  Gatherer did not necessarily mean that you were overweight, since although it is easy to conceive of the Gatherer as 'gathering' calories,  it's the other stuff (like amyloid in the brain, or immune complexes in the pancreas) that you also want to not 'gather.  "

where do you live?
