Does anyone have insight or thougts on the PUFA's. Chicken, nuts are both high in Polyunsaturated fats which appears to be an issue for obesity.

Wondering if anyone has seen an improvement in overall health by eliminating PUFA in general.

I get confused with all the different fats. so what fats exactly do you use? which are available to you . and what are your beneficial fats on swami?

I imagine chicken is best a neutral for you, and various nuts are less than neutral for you so which are beneficial?

the worry is that the research you are relying on is the usual one size fits all.

if you are listing the exact fats oils that you use please feel free to puts links to brand names etc. then more detail can't be commented upon.

I try and de-emphasize PUFAs but not eliminate them completely.  Generally speaking, chicken and nuts are not the ideal source of the majority of your protein needs, but should be your supplemental sources.

Grass-fed beef, which is the best meat for you, is high in Omega 3 and CLA, both anti-inflammatory. Wild salmon and sardines are also at the top of your list.  These things are more expensive, which I think is one of your concerns;  but when I eat abundant Diamond foods, I feel way more satisfied and my body is so happy.  All systems seem to self-regulate with less volume of food.  I like to eat turkey once a week, not every day.  I also love almonds and almond butter and eat it daily but in a moderate amount.

I generally don't worry about what type of fats a food has...  I eat mostly beneficial foods in the desired portion and frequency for the most part and don't worry too much about what the make-up of each food is.  

It seems to be working pretty well.

If the cost of protein is an issue, although I'm not familiar with how it works in the USA. but frozen wild salmon would be a thing to look at. you'll find it is on sale regularly every few months. It is here at least. I buy 6 x 4 oz wild salmon fillets or steaks which are usually £12 for £5 when ever on sale, which is often. I buy several. I supplement that with fresh fish once a week. but even canned fish would be better than chicken I think.

I appreciate fruit might be an easier thing to buy but I really don't rate it as a majority food and looking at those that are fruitarains. It's not good for the teeth also;)

I don't really cook with any PUFA oils. I do use grapeseed oil once in a while (it's a "black dot" for me) but I mostly cook with ghee, butter, coconut oil, or olive oil. I do eat the fat that comes with the meats and poultry I cook.

I do eat whole avocados and whole nuts (almonds and walnuts and almond butter.)  I figure the oils are well protected within the whole food. I do my  best to follow portion sizes for all foods, so overall my PUFA intake is much lower than that of the "typical American."

I tend to keep them down and my Omega 3 up.
I don´t use much or any polyunsaturated oils
I tend to prefer nuts with a good Omegea 3/6 balance
or nuts with monounsaturated fats like macadamia nuts.

I prefer grass fed meat and fish over poultry.
However all poultry is not created equal
IF a chicken is allowed to range on grass and eat bugs and very little or any commercial feed its meat will be higher in omega3 than a regular sad chicken.
The same with eggs from these animals.

THanks for the insight everyone. I agree that in general, I do not think my PUFA is that high, however, I see that my body reacts to it when I do have it... chicken lately is not for me as I have mentioned several times.

Hmm... good point about the fruit, def not good for the teeth. I am moving forward but baby steps once again. I guess I just love eating my vegetables and then sometimes I get so filled up with veggies, I forget to get the protein in. This happens often. I seriously do not think anyone would tell me eating too many vegetables is bad for you, especially when my budget is tight and i opt to buy only vegetables, to me, that is a pretty good decision. Of course, my body is now wanting some protein again:)

Grapeseed oil is rich in healthy PUFAs. It is a good way to help raise HDL if yours are too low. MUFAs are healthful oils, but somewhat less effective at increasing HDL than good PUFAs such as grapeseed oil.

I think that is a one size fits all approach ;)

I can´t get any decent grape seed oil- all is pressed at high temp. and with chemicals - none organic. so no thank you.

Grape seed oil is just neutral and most of the oils on my diamond/super list is either mono or saturated.

Grapeseed oil is a "black dot" for me. I'll eat the occasional baked good with it, but it's not part of my daily diet and I certainly won't try consuming it for health benefits!
