Any thoughts of how to put a lid on cold sores forever ?

As a generalisation - eat less foods high in arginine
Chocolate Nuts, including peanut butter Protein shakes and drinks that contain Arginine Oats, including porridge Muscle building formulas and multivitamins that contain Arginine

& more foods high in lysine
Most vegetables and fruits particularly beets, avocados, mangos, tomatoes,   apples, apricots, pears, figs and papaya Dairy products such as milk, yogurt and cheeses Eggs Brewer's yeast Fish, particularly sardines and cod
Chicken, beef and lamb Sprouts

Of course check how these foods fit in  with your bloodtype list

Since I love to eat some almonds and almond butter every day, I take a 500 mg capsule of Lysine each day.  There have been no cold sores since I started this practice several years ago.

I think the key is the balance between arginine and lysine and not eliminating too much of the arginine containing foods.

I use to have cold sores all the time. Once I started taking B complex and B12 I only got one when I became very tired. (over worked/stayed up late that kind of thing) I would then take a large dose to recover. Since I've been on Swami I haven't had one however I'm still taking the B's. 1B complex everyday and a 5000mg B 12 whenever I'm feeling rundown. If I let it go for a couple of day's I'm sure I'd have a cold sore.

Look a your tongue, do you have ruffle edges?  If so then that is a good sign that your low on B's

Your tongue swells, and pushes up against your teeth, causing these ruffles. (There maybe other health issues that cause this  but it is one sign of B deficiency

This is the best regimen under the sun for me, too, except I don't take lysine every day. If I indulge in walnuts I know I'm going to have to take lysine, though. For some reason, peanut butter and almonds don't bother me at all.

The funny thing is, this is the very first symptom I used to have when I was coming down with this problem! It is a sort of different type of tiredness, though - the "I need to go to bed" type! Even other people who know me well would sometimes recognize the symptom before I would. After the tiredness set in, then my stomach would start hurting like I had ulcers. If I didn't start taking lysine, they cold sores would appear without fail!

i'm an O Possum.  took a quick look at foods with lysine, several are diamond on my swami. but the B's are what helped me before BTD and still are my #1 means to keep from getting them and recovery.  

My tired it's a run down dragging feeling, needing to go to sleep. (put I don't) often I'm so tired I just want to cry but my body is awake. My body isn't sleepy, yet I'm tired. I don't know how to  say it anyother way.

I had never had one either until a dozen years ago when I had a major illness.  After that, I could feel one threatening whenever I would become very exhausted.  I think I only had two or three more until I discovered the Lysine.

Didn't know about Lysine + Arginine (EAA) competition and creating havoc

Will try Lysine capsules for a awhile and see what happens

What Lysine product do you take ?

Feverblisters:  according to Dr D LOOK  at his protocol is (was for many years) B6 or B5 Panthothenic Acid 500mg for a bottle then reduce to the next strength 300 or 250 for one month.  Then 100mg for ever or a year, and always when you feel run down, stay in sun too long, have a cold or whenever you feel a blister coming on.  

for a bad case of herpes and if you can afford the cream, then buy Zovirax and use it as soon as you THINK you get a blister,, especially if it is Herpes2.  It is expensive, as much as 495.- if no insurance.  

Dr D sells a pantothenic like supplement which is actually better and it comes in 500 mg .. it pays to buy a year worth.. the best prevention.. not only that but alos feels like the body gets a boost..

For older people it might be worth getting a Shingles vaccine as that prevents Shingles- ask how to get it for free with insurance, by getting it at the pharmacy and have a doctor inject it..

While Pantothenic in stores most often are not as high, but the good thing is that it is generally a cheap vitamin and available everywhere. I don't think it is worth trying anything else.. once you get blisters they inflame the nerves around the tissue and you can feel it a day before it comes out IF you pay attention. not waiting is important.
