Good Morning,

I recently read both eat right 4 your type and the genotype diet. I am quite fit and compete in figure and fitness competitions. A large part of my comp diet was chicken and broccoli and I did not lean out as expected, dropping grains helped and then the next step for me was to look at natual solutions to help my metabolism function as well at other competitors.

I am a gatherer with lower legs longer than my upper legs, scooped incisors with no molar cusp and a narrow gonial angle and am on the lower end of healthy bodyweight with matching fingerprints, so I found it a little confusing to find out where I 'fit'.

Now I understand chicken and dairy are an avoid foods, however for o+ broccoli, kale cucumber and eggplant are all beneficial yet on the avoid list for gatherers, I just wanted a little more guidance on why these food would be an 'avoid'as even in the food database they are encouraged?

Any guidance or advice for a beginners would be great!

One tip for beginners is that even though the GenoType diet is newer, it may not be a better diet for you.

On why foods rate differently in the GenoType diet than on the Blood Type Diet:  GenoType diet considers more factors than the blood type diet. These factors both raise and lower the rating of foods for the various GenoTypes.

The Genotype diet is more specific.  What is "right" for type O in general may not work for all type O's.  There are 3 different genotypes within the blood type O category, thus the variations in food ratings.

Thank you for those reponses, I guess for someone who didn't get a particularly strong 'gatherer'score I was just curious as to whether I should really avoid broccoli and cruciferous greens or as to whether some thigns are trial and error!

I took the little test on which diet was preferable for myself, it said Genotype - But I didn't have a strong reading so ultimately I could choose!

Reading through the forums I also do not seem to come across many healthy or fit 'gatherers' most polls indicate weight gain issues where as the BTD has a more even cross section. I guess a few things just for me to go over!

I didn't see a secretor status for you.  Have you done that test yet?  It could be an important link for you.
