My husband and I currently take 2 krill oil capsules per day - all my cholesterol levels are fine but my husband (Blood Type A-possibly Teacher)has slightly elevated LDL but good HDL and triglyceride levels ..We both have taken omega 3 fish oils for many years and changed over to Krill a couple of years ago with the assumption that they are better absorbed due to the phospholipids ...

However, recently a colleague questioned me about the efficacy of Krill over a good brand of fish oil and I really found it difficult to be convincing! So I thought the best place to get an opinion was here with you very knowledgeable people!

Is Krill oil recommended for some Blood types..but ordinary omega fish oil better suited for others  ??)

Thank you Lola for all those really informative links...I had tried the archive search but very little came up...perhaps I´m not searching correctly!

It looks like there are a lot of different opinions on the krill vs fish oil topic...of course it is always better to stick with beneficial oils for your type...at the moment hubby and I are just going by the GTD..its just that krill  isn´t mentioned anywhere and there seems to be a lot of marketing hype about it.I´d rather not be fooled by hype...but maybe I have been!

Please if there are any other views on this issue I´d really appreciate it. I also take freshly ground chia and flaxseeds, and now am thinking I probably should be taking CLA too...but for DH perhaps he should just eat lots of sardines  :-/

If a food item isn't mentioned, consider it neutral, unless you have a personal negative reaction to it.

Marketing hype is generally one-size-fits-all, so it may or not be suitable for everyone.  If I can find a food that Dr. D. says is superfood for me, and I can tolerate it at all, I use it instead of a neutral - especially an unknown.

I state the "tolerate" sentence as such because I have had several items that I needed so badly that when I took a normal dose, the benefit was so much that it made me sick, so I had to reduce the dose to almost nothing while the body got rid of specific toxins at a pace I could handle, then build slowly to normal levels.

hype is hard to not believe.....

stick to this forum and typebase for basic food values according to physiology

you might wish to graduate on to GTD and ultimately swami for more targeted guidelines according to you and not according to hype :)

Krill is similar to shrimp, right? In the absence of a specific entry for krill, I'd use the shrimp values for krill. On BTD, that would mean it's OK for O's but not for any other type. On GTD and SWAMI, your values may vary.

Even for Os, it appears that some species of fish may be an even better choice than shrimp, so fish oil may be a better choice for everybody.
