How much fruit are you allowed, Goldie? PLEASE don't eat the fridge doors!! I am allowed 1/2 cup in 3 servings per day. The only thing I go overboard on is watermelon. I CANNOT eat just 1/2 cup watermelon! No way! I probably eat my entire daily allowance in one serving! Then, I have my other fruits. About 1/3 cup each of blueberries and raspberries, part of a banana, 1/2 slice of fresh pineapple, a few dried cranberries and maybe 2 or three small chunks of dried pineapple. I do not gain weight eating this much fruit, but I have to be very careful about getting plenty of exercise! Also, I never eat any of this fruit without some kind of protein (nuts, and nut butters mostly) except the watermelon and fresh pineapple. And sometimes I will have an apple, a nectarine  and a tangerine (when in season). If I have the dried cranberries and pineapple they are in my sardine salad. I have the berries in my breakfast seed/lecithin/soy yogurt concoction. I will say, though, that of all the fruits I eat, a banana is the one I have to be the most careful about - especially if it is overripe. I don't remember ever eating a whole one even if it is small in my life.

The only time I crave sugar is when I've been out of town and eaten a bite or two of some dessert or other with friends. Takes me two weeks to get over these self-destructing abominations!

I am shocked at how the fruit sugar attacks MY ability to control ME even a little..

and I am pleasantly surprised how a few beans can satisfy much to the craziness.. at least make it bearable..

When I - 2 table spoons of beans I feel satisfied.. in fact when I eat them my digestion is 'full' slow and happy..

NOW I just looked at Swami..

Portion Size: Nuts, Seeds: half cup; Nut Butters: 2 tablespoons
Frequency: 5 servings weekly

WELL that is a lot less for me, so I need to cut to one table spoon of 'black beans' per meal.. about half or less than I did so far.. no wonder my insides felt as if a sleep.. Nice though, no gas..  with the diamond beans..   I will be ok.. I see the wisdom of that amount..

Almond Butter
Almond Cheese
Almonds
Black Beans ◊
Butter Beans
Butternuts
Cannellini Beans
Carob ◊
Chestnuts, Chinese
Chia Seeds, Pinole
Flax Seeds
Great Northern Beans ◊
Hickory Nuts
Peas
Pinto Beans, Sprouted
Pumpkin Seeds ◊
Sesame Butter, Tahini
Sesame Flour
Sesame Seed
Walnuts ◊
Watermelon Seeds ◊
White Beans

Interesting list ... I think I like all diamonds. but detest carob.. I wonder why?  (must be good for me  :-/)

Actually this list opens up a whole new way of thinking.. I will experiment and see further..

It might actually allow me to follow RuthyGirl  advice of eating beans.. thanks..  ;D

SPRING... You are so lucky.. all that fruit would send me to the hospital from happiness and the biggest diabetic attack :o ;D..

Being A I understand .. so different.. I am glad some can do what I can no longer eat..

Isa  .. maybe by the time I figure out life, I will be all educated..  :P

I can't always tolerate fruit. A little juice in green tea in the morning with breakfast, and lemon juice on salads. Sometimes I can have a few berries with ricotta or quark cheese, but I don't always do well with the dairy. A few raisins mixed with almonds in my trail mix is also fine- but it's way more almonds than raisins.

For a while this summer, I did well going for a walk in the early morning, then having some watermelon, then my shower and then breakfast. But when I exercise at any other time of day, fruit before breakfast (or after a workout) just doesn't work. And I can only tolerate watermelon (a diamond) when it's in season and I can get the local, organic kind. Otherwise it just feels like pure sugar to me.

I just read about insulin resistance and that there is a relationship with the sugar spike and sending a message to the body that it is starving. So, given that you struggle with diabetes, you are not crazy- but the sugar spike makes you so. If that condition is healed, it won't be an issue.

I would gladly give up some of my other fruit if I could tolerate lemon juice and grapefruit!!! :-/ :'( I just can't deal with the pain they cause.....
