I cannot imagine that pork casings would be ok to ingest being that Pork an avoid on my list.  Does any blood type get to eat pork?  I keep hearing adverts about bacon and it grosses me out.  I used to enjoy Pork roast and those big light colored pork steaks before I was redeemed.

But just in case.. please let me know.  

I can't eat these chicken sausages anyways.. as I noticed they have frutose and cane sugar juice in them.   :X

But I'm curious.. I searched for Pork Casings in the Search and nothing came up.

I believe Dr. D said O's can tolerate wild boar. That's about it.

I know that alternative casings MUST exist, because pork casings aren't kosher and I've seen plenty of kosher hot dogs and sausages (most full of unhealthy additives, unfortunately.)

I'm not familiar with any specific brands of "safe" sausages, as I don't buy much processed meat. But check around local stores, especially if you have a Whole Foods or health food store near you. Read labels carefully and see if anything is appropriate. If you have an old-fashioned butcher shop nearby, talk to the butcher and he or she may be able to custom-make sausages that meet your requirements.

Whole Foods uses pork casings. Unless you are kosher just cut them off before you cook the sausage provided that all other ingredients are complient.

what do you mean unless i am kosher?  if I am kosher i  can eat them?  I'm confused!   :P  

as I said earlier.. they had frutose and sugar in them.. not compliant for me.  i was just wondering about port casings in general.  

i threw them in the trash today. hated to waste them but rather not eat them and delay further healing...

Unless you are of the Moslem or Jewish faiths and had religious prohibitations against pork contamination. I believe Jewsish people call it "triff" and Moslem people call it "halall" or unclean in loose translation. If the sausage stuffing has no avoids I just cut off and discard the casing and cook the stuffing.

As I am a B and don't eat the Demon Bird, I have never bought any of their chicken sausages. They make a most excellent garlic mint lamb sausage. I just pulled the package from my freezer. Ingredients: lamb, mint, sea salt, garlic, black pepper, basil, thyme, tarragon, savory, onion, citric acid from fruit, canola oil, natural pork casing. As I said cut the casing off and what is left is about as close to complient as any prepared food gets.

The only alternative is collagen casings. Hot dog factories use them all the time; why are they so nonexistent in the Grocery Store, then?  ??) Ironic.....

Hi Gulf Coast Guy... i didn't buy these from Whole Foods.  I don't think i mentioned anything about Whole foods..  ??)

But since you have mentioned it WF twice now I might check into their brands.. I used to get Applegate Sausages but they changed something in their recipe and now they don't taste as good...

Thanks for everyones comments... and now I know what Kosher is!!!
