BTD Forums / Cook Right 4 Your Type / Wild Fermented Vegetables

Since I wanted to make wild sourdough starter, I'm interested again in the wild fermented vegies.
I've looked all over and I can't find the thread we had on home made fermented vegetables.
Does anyone know if Dr. D has said anything on fermented vegetables? I only know that saurkraut is an avoid for me because cabbage is an avoid.. I might be behind on this because I'm reading about how the fermentation causes a die off of bad bacteria, virus and fungi in the body..
I want to make fermented broccoli/carrots. :)

Just forget about your full vegetable drawer for too long. Open it and find plenty of fermentation! :D :X :o :-/ :P
Okay, okay. ;)

That only works if you have plenty of salt in your veggie drawer! Salt inhibits the growth of unhealthy bacteria while allowing lactic acid bacteria (the good guys) to grow just fine. Just letting vegetables rot can lead to something that will make you sick if you eat it.

I know. Ergo the emoticons.

I bought a Fido jar and had good luck with it until my most recent attempt. The wire around the top won't hold the lid in place, it keeps popping out of it's slot, any suggestions anyone?
