I thought this would be interesting to post since we will have ilnness-inducing weather later in the season. Looks interesting! Kits on the internet include instruments made from obsidian (very chic) but this site tells you what you can use from what's lying around at home.  :)

Gua sha is amazing! Helps with all sorts of aches and pain. My acupuncturist uses a porcelain spoon, like the one pictured. She always applies olive oil to the skin first, so you don't get a friction burn. We use gua sha at home for specific aches and pains, often from sports injuries or just from overdoing it.

After my porcelain spoon broke, I found a small, wooden food spreader that works quite well. I have several other similar spreaders. One time my son, who is the Prince of Gua Sha  :), saw that I had put a spreader on a food platter to serve to guests. Of course, he announced to everyone that "gross" I had used it to "spoon" his back! Love that kid!

I wonder if the ancient romans took advantage of this, seeing that before saponified soap was first discovered, they used olive oil and scrapers for their daily baths? :)
