so here I am back with the cheese issue!!

Somebody bought me a large block of goat cheese.  It is not listed on my Swami.  Feta is an avoid.  I know goat cheese is an avoid for me on BTD, but then so is parmesan and that is a diamond for me on Swami.  Goat milk is avoid on swami, but no mention of goat cheese.  As cow milk is also avoid on swami, and yet parmesan is superfood, I can not just deduce that goat cheese is an avoid.

Is it a neutral then?  Why is goat cheese not listed on Swami, yet is listed on BTD typebase?

Milk and cheese are 2 different sub-departments and shouldn't be mixed. If cow milk is an avoid, it doesn't rule out cow milk cheese. Some kinds of cow cheese may be superfoods.

Beyond that, dairy products are an issue with O's.

The way I see it, although I'm a gatherer and eat according to my Swami, nothing has really changed from what Dr. D wrote in Eat Right 4 Your Type, namely, that O's do better avoiding dairy products altogether. From my point of view it means, that I'd rather treat even diamond cheeses as black dots.

Some cheeses are Swami diamonds/superfoods/neutrals for me. But whenever I have them, I'll have them only made of sheep or goat milk, because I'm allergic to cheeses made of cow milk. I've never understood why some kinds of cheese are beneficial (for me) and others are not. I assume it has to do with the specific cultures and way of manufacturing. Also, even though Pecorino, for example, is for me a Swami diamond, there exist many brands of this cheese by different manufacturers, and only few of them are good for me. I tasted several sheep and goat pecorino cheeses once or twice, and they affected me so badly that I am not going back there.

If a food isn't listed in my SWAMI I tend to either go by the typebase value or assume it as neutral - for me that puts goat cheese as neutral either way but still leaves you deciding whether to assume neutral because it isn't in SWAMI or assume avoid because of typebase.  How do you feel if you eat goat cheese - any reaction to it?

well I seem to not get the emotional reaction to goat cheese - or the subsequent 'let down' and cravings, but I still get a headache and heartburn from what I can remember.

I do tend to get a bit high off cow cheese and then am hit by crazy anxiety a few days later.

If it's not in my Swami I use my BTD classification. Goat cheese isn't on my Swami either but a neutral on BTD, so I eat it.

For foods that are unlisted in SWAMI, I too will default back to the BTD Typebase. But the new SWAMI will be here any day now, so hopefully it will list many more foods  :D

I apologize everyone; I saw goat, milk and made the assumption. My bad. Goat cheese is not listed as a separate item. I go with the rating of goat, milk.

so my Swami was already just updated, and still no goat cheese, which I think is weird.  It would be helpful if it was listed.  So I guess I won't be eating it.  Funny how there are these exotic cheeses listed but not just basic ones - but nevermind, I probably shouldn't be eating it anyway.  It is the one thing I haven't been able to get over really - the whole, wow, I have cheeses listed as DIAMONDS so I can finally eat cheese!  But I guess it is too good to be true!

ok, well I couldn't work out how to put Explorer in my stats, and anyway, it doesn't matter does it?  Because Swami has it all figured out for me.  Yes I am aware of Feta cheese and it is listed, but feta doesn't cover ALL goat cheeses.  We have hard goat cheeses here too.  No.  Chevre is not listed anywhere.  Having Swami I am obviously aware of the whole blue cheese thing as it tells you.  As I said before, feta is listed, but not goat or chevre - in fact not even sheep cheese is listed, just specific types. It is very frustrating.

This perplexes me too, because it's the only food (that I've noticed anyway) that's listed on BTD but not on GTD or SWAMI. Many foods were added for GTD and more for SWAMI, as Dr D continued to to research and added new foods as he worked, but he's done working on BTD. Any new foods will only be for SWAMI.

I personally treat goat cheese as a black dot; I don't eat it often, and only in small quantities when I do have it. I figure it's probably an "avoid" in all actuality, but I've never had noticeable reactions to any goat dairy products, so I'm more casual with that particular food.

In your situation, I'd go ahead and eat a small portion and see how you react to it.

My swami has a changed a few times. At one point, feta was a neutral.
I have tried sheep feta in moderate amounts and felt no reaction. I am also O-, nonnie. I guess I carefully consider it a black dot, to be eaten sparingly.

take the same value as feta

and for the harder more aged cheese, take the same value as pecorrino

common sense is also advised, but above all, it should definitely not be frustrating

You don't have to do anything. At the minimum it will provide you
with added insight about yourself (now... did you know your finger

periodically to see if things look better with the old 20/20

There have to be differences between the GTD and BTD. After all, to a
certain degree they have different goals. Can you employ both? Sure,
why not? It is all part of my larger search for the truth.

Funny, how the talk ran before the GTD came out. The majority of
people were saying stuff like 'Well, I suspect that it is not going
to change much from the other books, so I'm not even sure that I'll
buy it.'

Of course if you do supply change, people freak out, but for
different reasons.

Be careful what you ask for..
