BTD Forums  /  The GenoType Diet  /  lectins stored in fat?

This maybe a stupid question and i did not see the answer i seek in the archives. My question is, Are lectins stored in fat cells? I've been mostly compliant and i have recently lost a few pre-GTD pounds. My carpal tunnel is worse and my lethargy is back with a vengence. I feel like i am back to the bad-old days but am being very compliant. Could i have "old" lectins that were storedin the fat that i have lost and am now seeing the effects?

I have read for years that toxins hide out in fat, that being the reason people sometimes get ill after losing a lot of weight. I don't think your question is "stupid" at all! I would up my supplement intake for a while if I were you.

yes to the above answer..

Can you do green juices with Organic dandelion or celery, no pulp.. just wash out all that is breaking free.. drink it daily.. no fruit added.. :  Eat your fruit whole and drink your veggies.

Yes the fat connection is why some people die after stomach surgery..

but it is NOT the compliant FAT we eat.. that will not add weight per se.. it is the stress we live with while eating and living that creates the fat.  Fat is a hormon related building stage..

Good for you to drop some weight..

Amy, it's real common to have old complaints flare up and we temporarily feel worse as our bodies are dumping old toxins.

How long have you been eating foods that are compliant with your type?

about 2 years now and in the beginning i lost some weight, but have been holding steady for a while, then got pregnant and now i have lost the baby weight and starting to lose some of the pre-GTD, pre-current-baby-weight. that is what it feels like is happening, like i am detoxing which is good but i feel so crappy all the time, it is hard to stick with it.

When I am outside breathing gas fumes, dust, pollen, whatever, and get the first sign of an overload of toxins, I start with Vitamin C and keep adding stuff until I feel better. This is in addition to my regular supplements! I just now took a S. Nettle capsule because my sinuses were reacting to something outside. Works like a charm for my sinuses. Many other supplements work for different reactions in our bodies and to things outside of them. Hope you soon feel better! (smile)

Please! What protocol is best for this? I am scared silly of the psychotropic medications given to me 10 years ago in my stored-up obese fat! I know I asked this before - but what kind of defense can I have at hand when mental health drugs are finally released from my body?????!!!! A bottle of Deflect????? :o

I would use the Detoxification Protocol:  http://www.dadamo.com/protocols/14.html

I don't expect Deflect would be enough for the medications, as it is mostly to be a sacrificial sugar to grab lectins...  The drugs may require support for digestion, liver and kidneys, as well as lectin removal...

It helps the liver rid the body of chemicals, both hormonal excesses and other toxins.

This is one of my favorite liver support formulas.

I'm going to choose one this MONTH!
It would be so nice to punch chemicals, hormones and toxins in the face.
Detoxical-D might find their faces for me.  :B  Good.

no lectins do create reactions with human body fluids....coz of their incompatibility with our sugar molecules...entre-autre.... but heavy metalls are one of the toxins stored in fatcells !!! (whistle)

Toxins can definitely be stored in fat, though I'm not sure specifically about lectins. What you're experiencing sounds like detox to me, and is very common among people new to the diet.

is 2 years still considered "new"?

No, 2 years isn't "new" unless you went off  track and just got back on.

But it's still possible to get "new diet detox symptoms" when you lose fat that was stored when you were eating a much less healthy diet. The icky feelings should pass, or at least start to improve, within a few days.

If it doesn't, then you need to take a closer look at what's going on. Could you have an illness that requires treatment? Have you recently been exposed to environmental contaminants? Is something in your "mostly" compliant diet causing you more trouble than you realize?

Ruthie, that is what i am wondering. am i eating something that i don't realize? i really need swami but it is not in the budget for at least a month or 2. i'm pretty set in my ways, so i usually stick to the same foods. grass-fed ground beef with veggies for lunch, pineapple or banana for fruit and then some sort of meat (chicken, fish, turkey) with veggies for dinner. i do have chocolate every day that i make myself using the recipe from the e-cookbooks. i should also keep a food log. it is persistent lethargy. this has been going on for at least 3 months or more. i am also off caffeine, but that has been at least a month so i would think any symptoms from that would have passed. this is how i felt before the diet, always tired to the point i would be afraid of falling asleep at the wheel. i'll figure it out, with everyone's help! i may try the Detoxical-D.

When you said "mostly compliant" it implies that you're consuming a few avoids somewhat regularly. Or it could mean that you're not careful with portion sizes- which might affect weight loss but isn't as likely to lead to lethargy and pain.

Is there anything in your diet (even as infrequently as once a week) that isn't 100% compliant? Are you consuming any packaged products at all- the company may have changed the product without you realizing, and you could be reacting to an "avoid" in the new recipe.

It also might not be anything in your diet at all. I sometimes fall into that trap, looking ONLY at what I eat and ignoring other possible factors. Could there be mold in your house? Pesticide drift from neighbor's lawns? Something in your air conditioner that's making you sick when you breathe it in?

No, but it doesn't mean that all of the detox and healing is done after 2 years either...  I've been following this lifestyle closely for about 5-6 years, but the healing continues.  Much depends on what issues the individual has when they start, how much of what type of toxins are stored throughout the body, and how long it takes their body to respond to the beneficial lifestyle.
