I have updated my Swami with some recent health developments (possible hypothyroid issues) and now quark cheese is a beneficial for me. I am not unhappy about that, but I am confused since the food typebase says quark is an avoid for O's, both secretor and nonnies. According to the typebase, quark "flocculates serum or precipitates serum proteins. Contains component which can modify known disease susceptibility."

Could anyone shed some light on why quark is beneficial for me? Calcium content? Probiotic action?

Help much appreciated! ;D

Probably a combination of things.

I suspect tyrosine is one of them. You are looking at a low fat fresh cheese high in digestable protein.

Blood Type Diet includes far fewer variables than Genotype Diet, and the SWAMI system takes into account the most variables at all.

Most whole foods contain "good things" and "bad things" for each individual. What makes a food an avoid, neutral, or beneficial is "how much you need the good things in this food" vs "how much you're harmed by the bad things in this food."

Quark cheese, like most dairy products, contains something that's no so wonderful for O's. So it's an avoid on BTD. However, it also contains other nutrients that are really, really good for some individuals. In your specific case, the "negatives" of the dairy aren't so harmful for you, while the "goodness" of other nutrients in there is just incredibly nourishing and healing for you. The benefits outweigh the negatives, and this food is now considered a "superfood" for you.

Just be sure to follow the portion size recommendations; it's very easy to over-do the dairy portions. For most O's, dairy should be a condiment, not a protein source.

in the Budwig's diet ist's proven to be anticancerog√®ne... meant here is quarkcheese and on top olive oil (I add always black cumin seeds )  :D

and yep...ther's always a choice for.... :X

Thanks, Lloyd, Ruthie and Isa, for those comments - very helpful. I did assume that the benfits would outweight the harm, but I was interested to know in what way quark is beneficial for me.

Interestingly, I have felt the need, almost a craving, for a while now for yoghurt. I don't eat yoghurt and it gives me a terrible itchiness on my arms when I have eaten it, but there is still this feeling of wanting something like that. I thought perhaps my body is needing something that yoghurt fulfills - maybe the probiotic action - which quark may also fulfill.

I will monitor the feeling now that I am including quark in my diet, and see what happens. Actually, I find it quite appealing eaten like yoghurt, with a small amount of agave to sweeten it and raspberries mixed through it.

quark also is a boog precursor for methionine... needed for liver cleanse u.a.  :D
