I am new to this. I am following the genotype diet for a month now- gatherer. I really saw positive changes since I started.  :) my problem is the PMS days @ 10 days prior. It threw me off course, completely. Binging on sugar, carbs, and everything else, mood changes, depression... Good god!  ??)I have had these symptoms but I had them under control, very well, in fact, with all the multiple different diets I was doing!
With GTD, its 50 fold more pronounced! Something I cannot fathom! Anybody has any suggestions?

Try the natural progesterone cream as well

I used to have a hellish 7 days PMS but after PP introduced me to progesterone cream( Thanks :K))
bingo not a single pms symptom :o

And I got fewer PMS symptoms when I added in lavender tea for its estrogenic effects. My problem was not enough estrogen, rather than too much of it. Don't jump into hormone- changing supplements until you figure out what's up with your own body.

Supplementing with black current seed oil has also helped a ton- it's got the same "good stuff" as evening primrose oil, but it's more compliant.

My guess is that PMS took you by storm this month because of detox; you're finally eating right, so your body is releasing stored toxins. That's temporarily making PMS worse. After 2 or 3 months, it should clear up all on its own.

In the meantime, do the best you can. If you're REALLY craving something sweet or starchy, grab a compliant sweet or starch. Rice cakes smothered in butter are a better choice than donuts. See if eating fresh fruit satisfies the sweet tooth. If not, make your own hot cocoa using agave and/or molasses as a sweetener, plus the cocoa powder and some sort of creamer (rice milk or almond milk or, if you REALLY want the dairy,  go for heavy cream.) Perhaps a larger portion of quinoa or basmati rice with a meal would stave off cravings later.

The goal is to follow the recommended portions all month long, and hopefully in a few months you'll be rid of the cravings. But until then, let yourself "binge" on healthy foods. It might still mess up your blood sugar and will certainly interfere with weight loss, but it shouldn't be as toxic for you overall, is less likely to lead to depression and bloating, and you'll just recover faster.

Hi finding sunshine - I've had severe menstrual difficulties starting about 10 years ago. The BTD made a positive difference for certain, but when I started my SWAMI my menstrual difficulties vanished...completely!!! My periods are back to within the normal, "I can live with this" range. I didn't do the GTD - I want straight to SWAMI and love it love it love it (dance)

My cycles changed for the better after following BTD for a while. Pre-BTD, about 12 years ago, at the age of 43 my periods were horrible, for at least two days out of the seven I could not be more than two steps away from a bathroom, it was that heavy. Things settled down and stayed about the way they were when I was a teenager.
