BTD Forums  /  The GenoType Diet  /  what should he follow?

My husband is a warrior according to genotype. He is also A-, non-secretor. What does he follow, the diet lists for warriors, or for A nonnies? He does not have SWAMI.  Thank you!

I am a A- warrior also, as well as an unconfirmed non-secretor. Deciding to follow the blood type or genotype diet is a matter of preference. If he has some fairly significant health issues or a family history of serious diseases the genotype diet would be much more helpful from a longterm health standpoint.

Up to you him.  Either choice would be good until a SWAMI is done.

If he's not ready to invest in SWAMI, then he needs to pick one "book diet" and stick with it. Both are excellent diets. Some individuals do poorly on one or the other; if he's one of them, he should select the other.

Basically: pick one and follow for 2 months. If he's not happy with how he feels, he should try the other one, or get a SWAMI at that time. It's fine if he selects one based on "I like those foods better."

I just realized being a non-secretor changes him from a Warrior to an Explorer.  We were going with the assumption he was a Warrior b/c it was more likely that he would be a secretor until his test came back.  Makes me think we need to invest in SWAMI for him.

I think SWAMI is a great investment for everyone, but more so for the Explorers since all 4 blood types are represented, therefore the book diet is least specific for any blood type...

Until you can get the SWAMI for him, I'd probably suggest following the A-Nonnie diet...

Aisling, I would not assume that his non-secretor status confirms him as an Explorer. As I said in a previous post, following the advanced calculator in the genotype book made me an Explorer, assuming I'm a non-secretor.

I've entered my secretor status as a non-secretor into my SWAMI and then clicked "determine my genotype" which ultimately calculated me a 40% Warrior. A few days ago I reran my SWAMI and changed a couple optional fields and also added the Meyers-Briggs personality test and my Warrior genotype percentage changed slightly to 39%.

Is your husband left-handed? That would be a very strong indicator that he is an Explorer (I am right handed BTW).

If he types out as an Explorer according to the Advanced Calculator at the back of the book, then I would definitely have him follow the A nonnie diet. Explorers can be any of the 4 blood types, and the Explorer Diet in the book is a compromise for all of them.

He would definitely benefit from SWAMI, as both being a non-secretor and being an Explorer increase the chances that the "genotype book diet" won't work for him (alternately explained as "he's more likely to have his SWAMI diet vary widely from the diet in the book.") I would definitely keep him on the BTD until/unless he gets SWAMI.

Which diet is best depends on which health condition you are trying to address.

May want to have husband take this quiz to decide between diets:
