Thanks again to everyone who encouraged and reassured me about going ahead with the SWAMI. I just completed it and I am confirmed a Teacher and there are even more foods that I am allowed that the book said 'avoid'. There are so many foods on my list that I LOVE!!! The two tough items for me to AVOID are coffee (although I only have one cup a day) and my afternoon dark organic 85% chocolate. Not sure how I'll make it through without them. I guess I should just be grateful those are the only two that make me :'(.  If anyone has any suggestions to help me get over my morning coffee and my afternoon dark chocolate I would genuinely appreciate them. Wish me luck! I am so thrilled to think I have a wonderful road map to follow now that is especially just for me!!!! I feel like I just gave myself the greatest gift.

Green tea is one possible, yerba mate is another. Carob can be used to make some nice treats.

I hope you enjoy your SWAMI diet as much as I do mine...

I don't know why you "need" you chocolate...  
It may be the sweet, in case some fruit may replace it...
If it is a specific nutrient, look at the nutrient profile of other allowed foods to see what will replace.

SWAMI in my opinion is a direct route. So happy that you went ahead and treated yourself. Roasted dandelion root  is a nice coffee substitute and there are several recipes to be found on the internet to make brownies with black beans (I use adzuki) and substitute the carob for the chocolate and use your SWAMI recommended sweetener. Can also use apple sauce or some other fruit puree instead of sweetener.  :)

Regarding coffee and chocolate... These are stimulants, pure and simple.  To put it more blunt... they are addictive drugs.  While on these, I would not feel like my natural self.  Since having left both of these addictive substances, I feel much more relaxed.  Over time, if... and I repeat, 'if' you stick with 100% compliance on your SWAMI, for about one month, AND stay far far away from both of those, you will begin to detox from these substances, and begin to feel much more calm, and much more 'sensitive' to these and other things you put into your body.  

It took me years to finally say goodbye to both of those, but now I embrace the calm within, and actually dread the thought of any stimulant pumping through my veins.  I have no idea how old you are, but I am 49, and at my age, I am getting rid of all things in my diet and in my life that cause me stress.  The last one left is my work, which unfortunately I must contend with.  

If stress is a big factor that you deal with, then really consider ditching coffee and chocolate.  Sorry for the huge speech, but I'm particularly passionate about this at this time in my life.  Good luck to you in your new SWAMI adventure.

Congrats  ;D  Happy journey to you. And alas -- even decaf coffee would stay in my liver too long and repeat on me the next day.  It is now the lowest-of-the-low, beyond-black-dot substances on my SWAMI. I would only partake if I were to suddenly wake up diabetic, and blood sugar crashing (as a temporary stabiliser that day.)

Just to show how individual we all are, even within blood type, I am an A Warrior, and have both chocolate and coffee as superfoods.  Viva la difference! ;D

Coffee and chocolate are diamond beneficials for me  :) .. But as a Teacher, you can have
cheese and I can't.... :'(

I too cannot have chocolate or coffee but I saw a recipe from Dr. Oz that really satisfies any craving I may have for chocolate.  They're called Carob Chips - Instead of Chocolate.  You melt 1/3 cup of coconut oil (superfood)over low heat.  Remove from heat and stir in 1/2 cup of carob powder (another superfood), 1 to 1 1/2 tbsp sugar substitute (I use a couple of drops of plain liquid stevia or honey & 1 tsp vanilla.  Drop the dough in Tbsp sized drops onto parchment lined baking sheet.  Refrigerate until solid.  That's it.  I very seldom get a craving for anything sweet, but sometimes I just feel like having a little taste of chocolate, and these fit the bill for me.  :P

Congratulations! Chocolate is a black dot for me :( so I've become creative with carob. I'm munching on a carob waffle right now ; carob powder, whole spelt flour, ground flax seed, eggs, goat milk, cinnamon, and ginger with a little honey. Tastes every bit as good as chocolate!

I've run my swami as both secretor and nonsecretor (really can't afford the test) and it didn't make too much difference for me. A few things shifted to superfoods from neutral and visa versa, nothing changed to avoid from superfood or back.

Adam, quit your job and go back to school to do something else. You are free to move on with your life on every level.

Um, I don't thinks, rabbit.  I am 27 years vested in my retirement plan with about 3 years to go for full retirement benefits.
