My Hubby is a Warrior per measurements we have done here at home with the genotype book.  I have been following BTD (about six weeks in) and we just  started looking at the genotypes this weekend.  I would say right now he is about 50% compliant on the diet, so I know part of it is what he's eating.

That said, he is eating a lot better than he has in years.  The last week however he has been extremely tired and is even having trouble sleeping, which is unusual for him.  He has been under a tremendous amount of stress at work.

So, Warriors, tell me what you think is making him so tired when he's eating so much better?  What tends to cause a Warrior to be so tired?

Look into the types of exercises for Warriors and see what you can do in that area, good luck  :)

Ensuare he drinks a lot of water ... detoxing requires it or his organs will not be able to cope with the elimination overload ... getting into a good diet after a lifetime of not eating right does that to the body ... there is light at the end of the tunnel ....

He's compliant when he eats at home (because I cook for him!).  So, that's dinner every week-night.  His typical breakfast is about half compliant, he generally eats a protein bar and drinks apple juice.  The protein bar is not gluten free, I don't know about apple juice for warriors.  He has a very touchy stomach in the morning and can't tolerate much in the way of eggs etc. Lunch is his big hang up right now is when he's at work.  I think if he packed it would help, I have found it to be tremendously challenging to find compliant food to eat when I'm out.

Um not really.

Gluten is not the enemy of warriors specifically. In fact they are recommended whole wheat bread in the book. However that being said plenty of them have issues with wheat. The only ones not recommended via the book are white flour, durum, and semolina.

Apple juice is neutral.

Lunch, that is of interest. Red meat? Meat? Corn? Excessive carbohydrates? Good questions.

An important note would be feeding him good things at dinner. It is more about what you do eat than what you don't eat. Hence soy and vegetables especially. Eggs, occasional yogurt, and maybe B12 supplement as he ages may be particularly useful to health since absorption rate goes down.

With bad gut flora it is hard to digest protein well, and that causes major sleep issues. The right protein, fish, soy, eggs, and nuts however will be beneficial. Red meat will cause the opposite affect and put more of a barrier between him and absorbing protein well, and hence sleep and energy.

You might want to look at some Holy Basil (Tulsi) tea. It helps with cortisol, a stress hormone that can interfere with sleep. I have a genetic SNP that makes it harder for me to clear and Holy Basil truly changed my life. Although it's been awhile since I've used it and I'm sleeping really well. Health improving, stress level down. :K)

I also do earthing when I can during the day, on the computer and when sleeping. I believe they said it lowers cortisol as well.

Hunter Activator also contains Holy Basil.

I'd actually recommend blood thinning items like Ginger, lemon juice, and blackberries. Wouldn't worry about inflammation unless it is really clear.

Does he feel too hot, or too warm when he is trying to sleep?

Sorry I wasn't more clear.  He still eats red meat probably twice every three days at least at lunch.  He hasn't stopped on dairy (he is an A), I'm not sure if all dairy is out for As as a Warrior, I'm going off of recommendations for BTD (we are still really new at all of this, so we're learning still).  He eats french fries about four times a week.  As I said, lunch is a problem and we both know it, its just finally making that last commitment in the middle of the day.  I am sure the protein bar he eats at breakfast isn't that great, in that it has a lot of processed ingredients.  

He does often feel hot at night when he is trying to sleep.

His blood is thick. Thin it out with the recommended things and he'll sleep better; won't feel warm.

The potatoes and red meat are the worst things. They are literally the two hardest to digest things he could eat; that are normal food anyway. Not even blood type O who do well with red meat can digest potatoes properly.

If he wants to feel really good he won't any potato or red meat at all.

Ausling, i am currently battling the same battle with my A hubby. he'll come home and say i'm so tired and then i'll ask what he had for lunch and in every instance he has gone out to lunch with the guys--usually chinese buffet! It is hard to pack his lunch, he is usually on the road and does not have access to a microwave or he needs to eat while driving etc. Lately he has been having a compliant version of a chef salad. romaine lettuce, cheese cubes, a boiled egg and whateve resh veggies we have on hand. it has been working for him, he has lost about 7 lbs in 3 weeks. We have been following this way of eating for almost 2 years and he is finally coming around and not fighting/sabotageing everything. for all this time i couldn't figure out why he was not feeling better/losing weight and come to find out almost every morning on his way to work (after he had had breakfast at home!) he was stopping for some sort of bagel or hard roll with pork roll/cheese/egg or some combo. anyway, keep at it, he'll hopefully come around.

reduce carbs and give a try for enada nadh...about 2x10 mg's 20 minutes before meals.... (pray)(ok) this is an energy booster..... ;) ;D

Dairy is not good in large amounts for anyone without a B in their blood type, except yogurt (i love it but it bloats me bad!).  Red meat is not good for warriors eaten on a regular basis. An occassional lean steak should not be bad once in awhile though i would think as a treat.

French fries are my favorite avoid!  I still eat them :o ;D

Is he usually under such a tremendous amount of stress at work? If not, I would mainly just chalk it up to that. He's having trouble sleeping due to the stress which is causing him to not get enough sleep at night and therefore tired during the day.  Happens to my husband too when he's worried about something (he's a type O).

Someone else mentioned the relaxing exercises - that should help. Try to keep it cool enough when he sleeps as well.

You can buy bars on this website that are compliant. I'd suggest letting him use up whatever he already has in the house, then switching to the unibars. It's not a big change in his routine to grab a different brand of bar for breakfast.

It's hard to change long-standing patterns, and it sounds like he's used to buying lunch on workdays. Maybe he can start by bringing a bagged lunch one day a week, while still buying the other 4 days. Then slowly, over time, he brings lunch more often and buys less often, until buying lunch at work becomes an  occasional treat. He can also make better choices while out. Even though restaurant food is likely to have "avoid" additives, he's still better off with the turkey sandwich than the roast beef sandwich, and with the salad rather than the fries.

I think it's wheat. I seem to have a lot more energy when I'm off it. I have to psych myself up to go off it though. I keep going back on's a comfort food..  :(

It is not easy when your lifetime comfort food of artisan breads/croissants make you feel so bad but taste so good. I just take the responsibility of much do I really want that few moments of deliciousness in exchange for probable discomfort?
Also, however, it looks like most of us "A's", warriors, teachers and explorers, experience that excess cortisol from stress! :P

Hi I didn't read the whole thread so I apologize if this is repetitive but I'm a warrior and a sublingual b12 supplement helped me quickly and noticeably. Tai chi also helps regulate my energy, but that's probably a harder sell.

I'd like to add another note given that typically coffee is suggested to be a (diamond) beneficial food for Warriors;

In case people feel (chronically) fatigued I would strongly discourage consuming coffee (or any other caffeine beverage or food for that matter) -even if your BTD, GTD or SWAMI would suggest it's beneficial for you. Chronic fatigue almost always signs weak adrenals, and coffee is probably the worst adrenal abuser of all stimulants. Yes, coffee does give a short-term energy boost, but not because it somehow helps your body to 'create energy'. No, coffee merely encourages your body to burn some of your energy reserves. If you keep pushing weak adrenals by regular coffee (or other stimulant) consumption, the adrenals (and your health) will gradually burnout further and further, and eventually just crash.

Yeah, wheat makes me tired, lazy and lethargic and it stalls my weight loss. This is mostly since M I'm having this reaction. I have much more energy when I don't eat it.  I'm down to one serving the past week. I noticed my skin looks a lot better, smoother, and less wrinkles when I don't eat it.
I'm going for no wheat this week. At the diner I had a fish sandwich, scrod and rye bread which are beneficials but I didn't feel great the next morning from the flour the fish was dipped into.
