In Mickey's thread about whether anyone has filtered SWAMI food choices through a Low Glycemic "lens," I strongly advocated for this type of filtering.  I based this on my SWAMI's recommendations of several sweeteners and carbohydrates as superfoods, and the fact that I have blood sugar problems.  I do better treating sweeteners and white carbs as black dots.

Then Lola suggested I change the input to SWAMI to indicate that I'm a nonnie.  Something very interesting happened.  The sweeteners Honey, Maple Syrup, Rice Syrup went from Superfood to black dot just as I treat them.  But Agave Syrup and Veg. Glycerine both remain as Superfoods.  (Stevia went from neutral to avoid.)  However, the Carbs family didn't change at all.

Mozz. cheese went from Superfood to Black dot, and Farmers & Feta from neutral to Avoid (bummer).

I also went from 44% to 45% GT4.

I also tried indicating family history of Grandparents with diabetes (no noticeable change).  Then I indicated high glucose, since it was 104mg/dl on my latest blood test, drawn 10 days ago.  This caused my GT4 percentage to change from 45% to 43%, yet the advice on sweeteners and carbs seems the the same.

In reviewing the input data, I noticed I didn't complete five optional body measurement fields: Cranial measurement, Width; Cranial measurement, Length; Carabelli Cusp; Incisor Shoveling; Jaw Angle.  I was eager to get a report when I first ran it, but then never got back to filling it in.

People in my family will have massive insulin issues but not become diabetic. Only one person in the family ever has been.

How is your digestion? You may be lacking things that help you balance blood sugar. The liver has a lot of work to do for blood sugar balance, so it can be challenging for Explorers.

While you may put in whatever you like, 104mg/dl is generally regarded as only borderline rather than high. At one time (years ago) it was considered normal.

By all means complete your inputs. Get your secretor status verified as well.

the glycemic index is a more simple way of
looking at carbohydrate reactions than the
BTD/lectin relationship, since the effects of
lectin on insulin metabolism, lipolysis and
carbohydrate endocytosis  essentially creates
a second set of GI values that are unique to
the ABO/secretor types.  A and AB
hypoglycemics tend to start off rocky with the
BTD, simply because it is forcing them to
restart old machinery that has withered away.
Any other way become like the old man who
eventually lives in one room of his mansion to
save on heating: In order to have day-to-day
'good feelings' we instead forgo  the chance
of wider function.

Do some liver and adrenal support and you will
get through it.

agave syrup is manufactured and it involves a process similar to the making of high fructose corn syrup where the chains of sugars are broken down into simple sugars. And fructose is fructose is fructose... it doesn't matter what the source, it is metabolized in your body just the same.

People have said they do experience less of a sugar spike with agave... and maybe that is due to agave syrup having a purported lower glycemic index than other sugars.

That last quote is interesting to me because "agave syrup" is a superfood, yet fructose is an avoid.  And I was thinking, isn't agave nectar merely fructose?  And even Dr D. agrees!  :)

The percentage of fructose in agave nectar varies, but I have never seen 100%.

I guess my digestion is fine.  My BMs are regular and easy.  I've started taking a supplement to even out the blood sugar roller-coaster, so I'm hoping I won't binge on sweets.
