hi everyone,

so I'm still pretty new with this way of eating, but I am really missing my salads at lunch...never thought i'd say that  :)  Since spinach, green leaf lettuce and iceberg lettuce are on my avoids, I'm trying to decide what would match those in taste and texture.  So far cabbage hasn't cut it and I can't seem to find arugula in my grocery store.

Suggestions please!

Which diet are you following? I am an A-Type Explorer on SWAMI, and I can have just about any salad greens out there, so I am surprised that you are so limited!

My experiences  for Bt A is.....at lunch you can eat tuna fish or boiled eggs with alfalfa sprouts, green leaves of Swiss chard, carrots, all the types chicory, witloof, fennel, daikon, green olives, sweet corn, and saraceno bread or quinoa bread or rise bread......the cabbages are good in winter ....

Just looked at the book (I'm following the swamiied version of the Teacher diet). You can have your salads, just make sure you make them with Romaine lettuce! Romaine is neutral, so you don't see it listed. Personally I have digestive problems if I have a salad with any other kind of lettuce other than Romaine.

Welcome and good eating!

I thought romaine and green leaf were the same thing, but I stand corrected.  Romaine is super easy to find, so now I'm set  :)

Thanks everyone!

Romaine is my fave with arugula for a peppery taste. I also enjoy escarole and endive.
I eat one or two salads daily and have eaten the same greens even when on the GTD as a teacher with no worries. It was a bit difficult to give up some favorite dressings
due to the vinegar avoid but I love plain lemon and olive oil.
Sometimes you can find arugula mixed in with baby greens.

Romaine is awesome!  We can forget it sometimes because Neutrals are not listed in the book, but enjoy your Romaine salads!

If I can love oil, lemon and seasoned dressing, I believe anyone could!! I had always hated Italian dressing, but, lo and behold, it was the vinegar that made me detest it. I never even tried oil and lemon because of that. But I do so enjoy it now!!(drool)
