I have been typed as a hunter and I feel that it fits me well. I enjoy the diet. However I have found that when I change my status to nonnie I become an explorer. I do have many things in common with this type too. I just wanted to see if some of you could expand on some of the personality traits, strengths, weaknesses, etc. I wish I had more info than the book gives. This is for curiousity of course. I appreciate any sharing. Nonnies traits you have are welcome too (I have read the nonnie posts so I am familiar with that). Just again, looking for some discussion.

Hi Rachel, did you type solely from the GT book or did you use SWAMI Xpress? I see that you posted in the SWAMI Xpress forum but mentioned the book in your post. The reason I ask is that when I tested using only the book, I typed predominantly as an Explorer. However, when I used SWAMI, the software typed me as predominantly Hunter.

Well, if you hadn't typed with SWAMI, I was going to suggest doing so. However, since you have ... are you certain of your secretor status? I didn't see it noted so I'm not sure if that means you haven't tested yet, or just didn't put it in your profile.

Explorer & Hunter both have inflammatory issues to contend with, so it's quite possible you being a nonnie, has just tipped you over further into the Explorer camp?!

I have not taken the secretor test. I was thinking about it but at first when I compared secretor to non it didn't change much in the diet. But I forgot to let it choose my GT. When I changed that and set it to nonnie I am explorer. Right now for cost reasons I won't be getting the test. Honestly I fell off the diet when my brothers visited. Its hard to watch them eat tasty avoids. Now I'm back and rededicated. They visited again and I held fast making my own version of what they ate. As long as I avoid wheat and dairy like the plague and get some good meat and veggies I feel good.  Anyway, my swami seems to put me close to a nonnie type, I'm thinking because of the Rh-, when ran as unknown secretor. Reading the nonnie board I do relate. Sensitivity to light, can't hear someone talking but high pitched loud noises are terrible, can't stand turtlenecks.. seams.. tags, I can't take fighting because I absorb the mood, etc. With the genotypes I relate to almost everything Hunter except being tall. The defining thing seems to be long legs. My measurements were very frustrating. Everything was so close to even in numbers. Relating to explorer mostly by sensitivities. Skin problems with rosacea, some acne, a little eczema, possibly dermatitis. Fragrances give me headaches or a rash. Caffeine bothers me (my heart races from coffee). Medicine too. Plant allergies. Pretty sure I need a liver detox (hate the dark circles under my eyes) and I used to get yeast infections all the time which now I'm convinced was due to all the wheat and sugar I was eating. So I do identify with explorer quite a bit. Maybe I will mix the diets :D

Have you compared the SWAMI outputs for Secretor vs. Non-Sec.?  What are the differences?  Can you select Beneficial and Neutral foods from the two printouts only, avoiding anything that is Black dot or avoid from either list?

This is the ONLY way I would "mix" the diets.  Once I've used SWAMI, I don't consider the book diet - it has now only become an information source for how or why, but not what foods - as I have a more individualized plan now...

That is what I meant by mixing. I haven't compared printouts yet but I will soon.

I am a secreter. My lewis antigen test proved my secreter test wrong. I have a lot of those sensitivities, if not all, to different degrees at different times; and horrible teeth.

Sometimes you just don't know.

I've done the saliva secretor test 2x now. Once last autumn and then last week. Because I can relate to all of the nonnie traits so well, my husband & I wondered if they had mixed up our saliva samples as I came out secretor and he a nonnie! The second time around has me as a secretor.

Unfortunately I can't seem to get the Lewis Blood Test to determine secretor status in that way.

I believe Explorers because of their own problems with environmental sensitivities, difficulty processing toxins due to liver Phase 1 & Phase 2 being compromised makes us very sensitive.
My skin, hearing, sense of smell etc....very heightened and always have had sensitivities to bright lights...

If you want another opinion and cannot get a blood test, you could try genetic testing.

Thanks C_Sharp, I believe you had advised for me to use 23 & me and I hope to do in the future but it's not in the budget at this point in time. So say if I was a Lewis double positive which would mean that I was a light secretor, would the advice be to follow a nonnie or secretor diet? I wonder if anyone has had this happen that Dr. D. may have mentioned at some point in time.  :)

As I said - Explorers & Hunters are similar, especially if the Explorer is the same Blood type...
My husband & I are both O's & Hunter/Explorer respectively... We eat a lot of the same foods, except I give him more starchy vegs & bread etc... We both have an identical area on our lower backs that will ache with inflammation... Also we're probably both nonnies as his teeth aren't brilliant (nor are his Mother's) & my Father & Mother's Father had false teeth from a relatively young age as well... ::) ??)
