BTD Forums  /  The GenoType Diet  /  Creatine and Strange Rash

My son has been taking a "creatine monohydrate" powder for the last three days, and developed a strange rash on his forehead and under his eyes.

Is he detoxing or should he stop it? (He's an O hunter, could be a nonnie. I don't know.)

EDIT: I just did a Google search and it says creatine is present in meat! Shouldn't it be benign then?

The ingredients say: "creatine monohydrate".

I think it's for fitness or something? ??)

A's do well with creatine.  I'm not so sure with other BT's.

1 to 3 grams/day has been recommended in the GTD for Nomads.  I haven't heard it mentioned for type O, either good or bad.  You might check the amount he is taking.

There was a post about 2 years ago where someone quoted Dr. D saying that O's should stay away from creatine because it probably wouldn't work for them and it may not be good for the kidneys. Unless there has been newer research countering that advice, I wouldn't take it.

In reflexology, the area under the eye is associated with kidney function so maybe his rash is his kidneys telling him not to use creatine.

Forgot to add that creatine in meat is in a form that the body knows how to use. The product from a manufactured package can be too processed for the body to use efficiently. It's also concentrated which can be too much for the kidneys to handle at once.

Glutamine for recovery is advised as well

I would be interested in seeing this quote. I tried looking for it but couldn't find it.

Maybe Lola has it? She has a lot of Dr. D's quotes.

Cool fact about reflexology. I didn't know that.

It was under the subject of creatine nearly a must for vegans & vegetarians. The post was dated August 6, 2010.

In the GTD book, for Nomads, Dr. D recommends Creatine.

Dr D
The creatine is to provide a bit of 'non-protein nitrogen'.

You could use the supplement choline as well.
