On LR4YT, Coffee is a Beneficial for A Sec and Non.
It is a Neutral for us B Secs.
It is an Avoid for everyone else.

Those of you following the GTD or SWAMI may find coffee to be a Neutral for you, too, even if you are not B sec.

If it's a Neutral for you, how do you do with it?
First of all, do you enjoy it? Do you drink it? How often? How much? What type do you like? How do you prepare it?

Not interesting, in "neutral" mode, I guess.
It's just that I see quite a bit of anti-coffee posts, and the fact is that it's not an Avoid for all, though it is for most.

I don't drink it even the majority of days, but when I do I really enjoy it, if it's serious coffee. By that I mean it's dark enough, generally.

I don't look for neutral foods.. in fact I played with my list yesterday and found only about 5 items in the neutral sections of all my swami AND I can do without any of them and be happy,   Avoids has a few items that are much harder.. coffee is one/but just read I can have a cup here and there.. ice cream is another/ maybe even that once in a blue moon is ok as I can have some small amount of dairy (actually much more than ever since I have not eaten dairy in 35 years), but overall I got used to not having those things so they matter less..

I do use decaf in place of a pain killer for my headaches.. works most days.. better then pain killers..  for that I drink decaf nescafe as it is supposed to be 'cleaner' - washed in water..

Coffee is a diamond for me, I really enjoy it if it is good quality, though I don't crave it.

Same here. I don't crave it, if I can't have it, I'm not upset by it, eventhough it's a diamond for me too. Luckily here at work we have a great espresso machine, together with good beans, it makes excellent coffee.

I am the same as Grey Rabbit. It must be rich and satisfying, I thoroughly love the flavor, but do not crave it. It is a diamond on my swami but I may drink one cup about
2 or 3 times a week...usually in the afternoon as a snack/treat.

A hot, rich cup of coffee is like eating a dessert for me. It quenches my sweet tooth and makes me feel full. I drink hot almond or soy milk with the hot coffee poured in second. I like one t. raw sugar. Voila. Yummy comfort food. 8)

Hm, it is sort of a comfort food. I make "cold brew" it is very smooth. I usually have one large cup with soy milk in the morning while I sit and mentally prepare myself for the day. I find it relaxing, it's sort of a ritual. I could easily do the same with yerba mate, but yerba mate is a neutral and coffee is a diamond.

Well I have 1 or 2 cups in the midmorning( around 10-11) with full fat organic milk ( you know me  ;D)

It is neutral for me and I don´t fear neutral food- my foof list would be rather boring IF I only had super and diamonds - sorry life IS too short for that for me.

I enjoy it very much  and feel great with it as long as I don´t drink it late at night,

I agree about the neutral foods. I have been trying to eat more or just beneficials but neutrals are satisfying and I don't worry about how many I eat!  ;)

Is there somewhere Dr. D'Adamo has published that generally people should avoid Neutrals? I confess I've missed it. Many on the Forum seem to strive to follow Neutral-free diets, so maybe that's a tenet of the SWAMI subculture, with which I'm unfamiliar.

I always got the impression that many of those posting here are in a health or weight crisis and are concentrating on the super beneficials to try to get better faster.

Thanks, but the question was whether the avoidance of Neutrals is anywhere promulgated as itself positive.

Ooopsie, my bad.  Don't know of such a decree.

this diet just lists beneficials and avoids....no mention of neutrals

Right. I was just questioning the quote re: "worrying about how many neutrals I eat".
I don't see where we are instructed to worry about that, and I know that many here do.

But - Back to coffee as a neutral.
Coffee is also a nice ingredient to use in cookery, esp. desserts.

My dad used to make a yummy cake for my b-day
It was flourless almond or walnutbased cake with a buttercream with coffee in - I LOOOOVED it :)
So Yes coffe is a very nice thing . ;D

I even enjoyed the flavor of coffee as a child. I wasn't allowed to drink it, but my mother would let me have a sip of her coffee (iced or hot) if I asked. She never put a sweetener in it.

Coffee was my favorite ice cream flavor, too.

It is 4:08pm.
I'm sitting down with a cup of cardamom-spiced turkish coffee.
Lately I've found it helpful to have a cup of something caffeinated at this time in the afternoon, as I tend lately to get drowsy at this time of day.

I'm amused that this is the time when Brits and their colonists traditionally break for tea anyway.
I have not found this practice to interfere with nighttime sleep, as it seems it hasn't for the Brits, either.

The flavor of good coffee adds to the whole "pick me up" experience. And one cup does the job.  :)
