I have had a couple surgeries during the past 25 years to fix ruptured Achilles Tendons in both of my feet.  We moved homes this week and I spent a lot of time running up and down stairs and moving heavy boxes.  Both tendons now have big knots on them and are very tender and hot to touch.  I was curious about why I keep having issues with my tendons and came across this article on the net about ABO Blood Groups and Achilles Tendon injuries.  Sure enough O's have more injuries because of the type of collagen O's tend to lay down and if I read it correctly, there are some issues with glycoproteins.

Fluoroquinolone antibiotic use can also be associated with Achilles tendon rupture. It is a rare side effect that can arise while taking such a drug, necessitating discontinuation of the drug and switching to another class of medication.

Just in case you're on an antibiotic.

Thanks Sante, read that as well, I haven't been on antibiotics since 2004...
