Recently I have been researching cancerbusting sulphoraphane whose highest concentration is in the sprouted seeds of broccoli and other brassicas.

Ordered in an organic sprout mix and it also contains canola seeds. They are there because they contain some enzyme that your body needs to convert the precursor into sulphoraphane.

Canola OIL is a blackdot for me on SWAMI, so how about canola sprouts?

I sincerely hope that they are like wheat berries to sprouted wheat- the harmful lectin disappears,
as I so do not fancy sifting through those tiny seeds to get them out of the seed mix ;D

The mix I got is 'mumm's sprouting seeds- broccoli brassica blend'

I do not know of any data on this.

Personally I would use the entry for "dry, mustard" (another Brassica plant) instead of an entry for oil in SWAMI. Others would assume it is neutral.

I trust Dr D s cancer book and swami to give you a more targeted advice, rather than ingest a one size fit all presumably cancer busting formula

I agree. I had expected to get broccoli seeds only and was disappointed to see other seeds beside!

I do not have cancer, nor do I worry about it- but I do like sprouts on my salad, so why not include something that is 'rated' so highly?

And I was curious to see what they tasted like!
Supertasters do not like broccoli because of the intense flavour and broccoli is a veg that is probably beneficial for everyone (is broccoli an avoid for anyone?? :-/)
So, not going into the detail of 'why & how' broccoli gets its rating, if the sprouts tasted fine to a super taster, they could eat those instead and get at least one of it's excellent properties (cancer busting) that way- just a thought.

PS: I do eat foods that are not listed in any of the books or my SWAMI, treating them as neutral as Dr.D advises and I would never restrict myself to only the foods that have a rating AND are available here in Ireland. As others would agree, the lists are not as abundant for other countries as they are for the States where one can get most of the listed foods or can get them delivered for a reasonable charge, sometimes even free!
I do trust Dr.D' but that doesn't stop me exploring, learning about and finding out stuff that comes from other sources- sure, that's how I ended up here! Living 'his thing' since 1998  ;D

Hi, since you have bought them why not try them, see how they make you feel.

I recently started using sprouted and soaked foods. but I only use the seeds of plants that are okay on swami.

sprouting and soaking is a fantastic method.

P.C. already in the sprouter since yesterday  :)
All seeds are on my compliant list bar the canola.
Generally I tend not to react a lot to any missteps, so I thought I might be able to identify the canola sprouts easier when there is some foliage. Then I'll know how much of it is in the mix.
Depending on that I'll decide if I chance it, pick them out or feed them to my man who can have canola  ;D

PS: When are we gonna have an irish get-together? You have all the e-mails if I remember correctly  :)
