Very different viewpoint. It actually talks about fructose in a good way. Ray Peat is a smart guy.

N=1 here. I feel better eating, say, a banana than eating rice or quinoa. I also feel leaner eating fruit over a starch.

Share your n=1! Am I alone on this one? Maybe fructose is present in nature for a reason??

Ray Peat is an interesting dude.  Unfortunetly fructose has become a problem in this world  Interestingly enough bananas are not high in fructose.  I have fructmal and can tolerate bananas quite well, just not most other fruit.  I tend to feel ravenous on to much fruit regardless of my other issues.  Paleo starches do me quite fine, and the odd banana as well. ;D

I'm just the opposite. Fruit makes my blood sugar go haywire- there's a reason SWAMI only gives me half a cup a day. I'm OK on whole grains in moderate amounts.

I can tolerate more fruit than I am given in SWAMI. I am allowed one and a half cups. Carbs in things like lentils will send me sky high if I eat much of it. I do not like that feeling!  :o

Swami gave me two fruits a day although I usually only eat one, and three carbs. So much depends on what you're needs are.  If I stick with the benes for me (from swami) I do just fine.

Ray Peat really is super smart.  His articles are so fascinating and well researched.  A fitness guru named Anthony Bova also seem to think fruit is very important and Ori Hofmekler touts it for detox purposes.  I don't like to eat more than 1-2 servings of fruit a day but definitely feel that a fruit-free diet can't in any way be healthy.

My swami gives me 4 servings daily of both fruit and carbs...thank goodness, because i would not feel full without all of it! There are days when I exceed both limits but the only time it bothers me is when I overdue on the carbs. My body does well with alot of fruit and veggies. :)

I agree with you that a fruit-free diet woudln't be healthy long-term, which is why I get worried when my blood sugar can't seem to stablize after eating fruit.

If you look at fruit from a historical perspective, it was NEVER as sweet as it is bred to be now.  Organic or conventional, fruit of our present is not fruit of the past.  And considering Ruthiegirl that you are of the oldest blood grouping are your pancreas and liver evolved enough for current day fruit to be "good" for you?  Fruit has always given me hypo issues,even as a child.  I only eat 1-2 serv of usually berries and grapefruit.  But followed within a half hour with a real meal.  I would not be healthy if I used fruit as an in between snack.  Just my 2 cents. :)

I've eaten wild fruit before. That stuff is really fibrous and has TONS of seeds. Definitely not the watery bags of candy we have today.

I've been taking trehalose with grapefruit. My skin is a lot better now. Grapefruit and bananas are my favorite fruits.

What is Trehalose?  Sorry I have not done a search.  What did you start to take it for?  Skin issues?

Interesting stuff, thanks for the links.  I wonder what this does in the gut?  Candida or even on a FODMAP free diet?  Anyone know about healing on a gut level?  Brain level it sounds like there is potential. ;)

Grapefruit and pineapple are my top 2 favorites.  I eat an occasional banana but can't eat them everyday.  I also believe the Trehalose is helping my skin.  I've had this spot on my cheek that I've been trying to get rid of for years.  I tried the spot corrector from Clinique which was very expensive and really didn't do much.  At the same time as I bought the Trehalose, I bought a product from Clarins and between that and the Trehalose I've noticed a significant difference.  

I stir it (Trahalose) into a small glass of grapefruit juice in the morning after breakfast.
