BTD Forums  /  Testimonials  /  Feature Film/Documentary about the BTD
Posted by: Eric, Thursday, November 3, 2011, 10:06pm
I know Lola started a thread on my promo video, but I wanted to create a more specific thread about the documentary itself.  Maybe we can merge them?

Anyway, I wanted to thank NAP for plugging my video in this month's newsletter:

http://www.4yourtype.com/2011_newsletter_v8n11.asp

In case you haven't heard yet, I am producing a full-length feature documentary about the Blood Type Diet.  This is going to be a professionally produced, PBS-style documentary with interviews, personal stories, discussion of the scientific concepts (with animations), criticisms, and future projections with the diet's possibilities and research opportunities.

I've already interviewed Daniel Church, PhD, the president of Bastyr University where Dr D graduated.  The interview went extremely well (I'm in the process of transcribing it), and I'm excited to get more involvement from health professionals, celebrities and anyone else I can contact as the project gets moving.

I will be collecting personal stories as well as documenting people as they begin the BTD (ideally under a Naturopath's supervision), so if you know anyone who isn't camera shy that wants to contribute, please send an e-mail to

sunmorproductions@gmail.com

My secretary Allison will be handling all of the messages, but don't hesitate to contact me on Facebook if you have any other questions.

The biggest step right now is fundraising.  Once I have the means to start traveling, I hope to get this off the ground and go full-force.  Many of you have already contributed generously to the documentary, and I can't express my gratitude enough!

Aside from fiscal resources, I'm also looking for connections to celebrities who have tried the Blood Type Diet.  If anyone on the forums has a link to agents, managers, etc please stay in touch.

Thanks for all of your involvement and support!  This is going to be my full-time job from now til it's finished, hopefully by the end of next year.  If I'm slow to reply, it's because I have a lot on my plate!  But I will get back to you.

Exciting times!

Sounds realllllly exciting.  Don't want to be on camera personally, I'm an introvert.  I hope you will touch on the vegan O phenomenon, it's very common!

Is this going to address the genotype and Swami part of it?  It seems like just the blood type books are outdated??  Maybe I'm just confused but it seems like when people advise me on these boards they are leaning towards the genotype and Swami rather than just going by bloodtype so I'm wondering what the movie may address?

OM.... Blood type diet is outdated?  Success stories abound on the btd.

Here we lean toward the SWAMI cause most of us have moved  along with Dr. D over the years. Some of us have been very sick  and have need the tweaking that comes with using the SWAMI.

I love my SWAMI but I also loved my Blood type A secretor diet as well.
Dr. D as taught me lots about how to deal with life-- and I have become much more adaptably over the years.

I Home Schooled my children at one time just like you.

the basic BTD will never be outdated!

GTD is what leads us toward a more personalize genetic approach

SWAMI is the ultimate link to that

We are all individuals and choose what best fits our needs

Organicmom, I notice you haven t done a secretor test.....discovering
more about our uniqueness is part of this journey

The principles of the BTD are the building blocks of what has come later, further refinement to create completely individualized diets.

Eat Right 4 Your Type remains a best seller.  So much so that it is still in hardback publication, fifteen years later.

BTD for current health.. GTD for learning more about what makes you to be you,.. Swami to improve the future.. so simple..

If you wish to have babies then take a crash course in BTD baby book, then move on to Geno before you get pregnant..

If you have other issues get the BTD specialized bocks, first learn every reason for why how come and what for.. then move up to the others.

Then get the Encyclopedia and study that for a long while.. to eliminate what does not ails you.

Learning takes time.. this is a college education for each of us.. takes at least a year for each phase..

I just wondered...because it SEEMS like people are pushing to figure out genotype and SWAMI rather than just sticking to the orginal lists....I'm sticking to the orginals myself...but feel sort of judged for not doing more....I'm rather sensitive though...perhaps I'm misreading the advice.  So I just sort of wondered if the movie will speak of all of this or just foucs on blood type.

:) for homeschooling....I love it!

Or perhaps it would be good to move ahead with the diet and look at a more individual approach.

What I am pushing is the idea that the deeper one goes with this the better.  I experience this-- lifestyle as a gift from God. I am so grateful for Dr. D'Adamo's work, my husband says I often "gush" about it. I had no health issues just a willingness to take a new perspective.

You do know the story of the people who are drowning... and they wait on the roof for God to rescue them-- he sends a boat but they never get in because they are waiting for God to rescue them thing is God sent the boat.

Try not to feel "sensitive" about this. :)

Maybe we know something and are just trying to get you to come along with us.  ;)

People here recommend SWAMI because they've experienced it's benefits.

You and are are both O's.  We have some general characteristics, that are physically wired into our bodies.  to give one example, we produce more IAP than all the other blood types.  If you haven't read about IAP yet, scientists have known for over 40 years that Blood Type O's produce the most of this critical enzyme, while Type A's and AB's produce the least.  This enzyme is critical for the breakdown of cholesterol and the absorption of calcium.

So, that's a general characteristic.

But down the road, there are things about us that will differ.  The stresses you experienced in the womb that affected many things about your physiology. Now add in your life, and what environmental and man-made toxins you've been exposed to.  Between us, those things that affect our genes will be very different.

So, on a general level, following the Type O diet, concentrating like Dr. D'Adamo has said on what you can eat and not what you can't, will improve your health.  If you are already healthy, you may not notice the subtle differences that are happening on the micro level.  But I believe, if you continue to eat wheat, that wheat will start to break down some bodily system in you.  You can't get around the effect that dietary lectins have on the body, just by eating whole foods.  Once lectin's get in your system that your body doesn't recognize as "like" itself, destruction happens, to your body.

If you want to go to a much deeper level, which I believe would encompass  improving your chances of fertility, IMHO you need SWAMI.  SWAMI, IMHO, and the opinion of many people here and those who have studied under Dr. through the IFHI, will change your genetic destiny.  What does that mean, exactly?  It means you can turn off genes that could, in time...turn in to a serious health issue.  Scientists already know that some genes can be manipulated to be "turned off" so that they are no longer expressed.  That's what GTD and SWAMI is all about.

Sharing with the best of intentions.

ETA: In addition, although we will both be Type O's, your secretor status may be different, your duffy status may be different, you may have shoveling in your incisors where I don't, you may not have a carbelli's (sp?) cusp on your molars where I do, your MN status may be different than me.... and all of these are indicators of your ancestry, or have implications in regards to foods, which would mean my ideal individual diet and your ideal individual diet, would be different. See? There are a bunch of things between us that will be different on the micro/physical level that will change your diet from mine beyond blood type.

Well, for those that want healthy babies with strong DNA I'd say yes.  (No babies for me.)

I would like to prevent the possibility of developing dementia and other illnesses I might be predisposed to, so I'm grateful we finally took the plunge to get SWAMI and typed out at HUNTERS.

Kimono,

"But I believe, if you continue to eat wheat, that wheat will start to break down some bodily system in you. "

I couldn't agree more with you on this.  I think as you get older, food sensitivities really affect you more and inflammation starts to build up in the body.

As we get older, our immune systems don't work as well.  It becomes even harder to clear the body of old lectin damage, not to mention new damage coming in.

Yup, like you all mentioned the BTD is the anchor here.  That's where the history is, and the familiarity resides.  Of course I'll mention the GTD and SWAMI, but in a way that keeps people curious w/out overwhelming the audience with information.

Thanks for the support!!

Eric,

You are exposing the BTD and all of its forms through your excellent film so that every day people  can learn and hopefully benefit from the research and findings of Dr. D'Adamo.

It appears even in this day and age and all the books and studies that Dr. D'Adamo has published that the Information Highway needs the extra added boost of an informative film such as yours.

Kudos.  And more power to you and more money to you.

It would be cool to have a vid on the genotype diet because it addresses more things.  I got much more from the GTD myself in terms of knowing myself.  It was scary accurate to me!

It really hit the nail on the head of me as an explorer overall and of my fiance who is a gatherer.

The difference bt a teacher, warrior, and explorer is pretty significant, but they are all A and can be AB.  The differences bt a hunter, gather, and explorer are there, but they are all O.

My oldest now has her SWAMI and I'm hoping to get it for my next-oldest sometime in the next year or so. Neither of them are planning on having kids for quite a few years.  Imagine how healthy my grandchildren will be!

Eric- GTD as the sequel sounds like a perfect plan! I can hardly wait for your documentary to be there on the library shelf next to Supersize Me!!

Eric, I just started watching the trailer.  I'm disturbed that you would include a clip from the Book of Mormon musical, mocking the LDS church and its missionaries.  Your former affiliation with the church is irrelevant to the BTD/GTD, and making a mockery of any religion is entirely out of place in such a work.  Your experience with naturopathic medicine in Mexico doesn't require a mention of your missionary service as a context; all you need say is that you were doing service work there.

I hope you will consider removing this offensive bit of content.  I'd like to share your documentary with my friends, but I won't share it with anyone if it includes this segment.

Those on our side are equally offended by negative publicity about the Blood Type Diet, TJ.  But that doesn't mean we should ask the authors to remove their articles from the internet.

I think we should welcome criticism, scrutiny and publicity about any of our belief systems.  That's the only way they'll stand the trial of veracity.
Posted by: ruthiegirl, Tuesday, November 8, 2011, 9:35pm; Reply: 29
TJ's criticism is something I didn't even notice when I watched the promo. But since TJ did bring it up, I do think it's a valid point. Do you want to risk offending potential customers/viewers/supporters? You certainly can't please everybody, and you're certainly GOING to upset those who oppose BTD (isn't that half the point of the documentary?) but it may be wise to put aside "non-food politics" in the interest of garnering as much support as possible. This may not be the platform to expose the truth about LDS; this is the platform for promoting BTD and individualized nutrition.

One has to choose one's message. What is your message and what diverts from it?

I have not seen the trailer and therefore have no opinion on what you did.

You both have very valid, reasonable points, and I do appreciate it.  I do feel justified, however, by the fact that I merely threw in the Broadway clip for a cultural reference, rather than for malevolence.  I.e., I did not go out of my way to insult the LDS faith.

By the same token, I don't think I need to go out of my way to guard everyone's feelings.  After all, the purpose of a documentary is to arouse conflict :)

I watched the video and enjoyed it. I did not find it offensive personally. I personally felt that he mentioned his religion because it was what started him off on this new journey. I feel confident that Eric will do well to represent the btd. He is very positive. Good luck Eric.

funn Dr. D published ER4YT so many Christians discounted just on the evolutionary ideas that he included.

Loads of people focused the first 3 pages of the book rather then the over 100 ( pages are not exact just to give a perspective).
Posted by: ruthiegirl, Wednesday, November 9, 2011, 2:28pm; Reply: 36
The evolutionary theory part of Dr D's work is just that: theory. The hard science is in the "this is how our bodies work NOW" aspect of it all. The biochemistry of humans today is what it is, whether it's because we evolved this way or because this is the way G-d created us.

I suspect those individuals were looking for some excuse to discount the diet (and have to take responsibility for their own health) and used religion as an excuse.

This clip is distracting from your point, not supportive of it.  The continuity of the current format suffers because of its insertion.  Now that it's been brought to your attention that it's offensive and detractive, it would be best to edit the promo video to remove it and repost a new version.

I watched the promo clip, impressed.  Are you planning to film locally in Salt Lake?  I lived there for a while though am not Mormon.  If so I request a few shots of the new City Creek mall if possible, as well as many outdoors shots such as the panoramic view.

If instead of, "I used to be a Mormon", I said, "I used to be a Mormon, but now I think Mormons are stupid and cultish", we might then have a legitimate concern.  I retain my position.

Thank you Sahara, and very good point Andrea.  Actually I'm considering Albuquerque as a new nesting spot, because it's supposed to be one of the best places to make movies in the country.  But no, the majority of the movie will be filmed outside of Idaho/Utah.

Challenging beliefs on what people should eat will offend enough people.  Why add something else that's offensive to some of your potential viewers, yet superfluous to the point you're ostensibly trying to make?  I think it's pretty clear what the right thing to do is.  I have nothing more to say on the point.

I've started a video series, showing personal stories with the Blood Type Diet.  This is for many reasons, but the mostly because I'm going to end up with so much footage that many of the testimonials simply won't fit in the documentary.  If anyone would like to be interviewed, please contact me!
