Oil pulling with coconut oil is supposed to be great!  My new dentist highly recommends it and I know that there is a thread here that is fairly recent regarding oil pulling.

Some have shared that oil pulling can loosen fillings and/or crowns.  Any more info on that?

I asked my dentist about that and he said that it would only pull a filling or crown if there is decay under the cavity or crown, and then it would be a good thing.

That was my concern, too.  Coconut oil is an avoid for me, but I'm sure other oil can be used (?).

Yes, any edible oil can be used. I've heard of people using olive oil or even castor oil- just make sure it's a food-grade oil and not something only intended for topical use.

There was an oil pulling book at the dentists office and since I had to wait around while they did x-rays and found my mouthguard, etc.,I read quite a bit of it.  The author also talks about using vegetable oil.

However, remember that you are not swallowing the oil.  You swish it around in your mouth for as long as you can keep it in there and then you spit it out, so maybe it would be ok to use the coconut oil although it is an avoid.  I am surprised it is an avoid for you O in V.  It is a neutral for me.

I found a site http://oilpulling.com/ that recommends using only sunflower OR sesame oil (neutral on my swami), preferably cold pressed.  Site says other oils are less effective.  I'm going to look at the HFS today for sesame oil, sunflower oil is an avoid.  Coconut oil is actually a black dot avoid for me, but I find it best to regard those as avoids for now.  I might be ok on coconut oil, I just don't feel like trying it on right now, even though it is not swallowed.  Anyway, I'm definitely going to give oil pulling a try.  Looking forward to getting started.  :)

It takes time.  I'm still working on my DH, but he now asks me about his blood type diet on occasion, and he is loving his spelt bread and spelt pretzels.  I'm not sure I can get him to try oil pulling.  Yet.   ;)

I've been oil pulling with organic cold-pressed sesame oil for the past week or so.  I do it every morning now.  I feel like my gums and teeth are looking healthier, cleaner.  It seems like there is more space between my teeth for air to circulate (and I do and did floss regularly), and my teeth seem less yellow.  Is that one of the effects?  I'm going to keep at it.  If oil pulling does help pull toxins from the body, I'm all for it, although I don't quite get how it happens.  I watch the weather channel in the morning now while I oil pull.  :)

My Dad had to be a nonnie, he had gum disease among other characteristics.  Can you do gum pulling with olive oil or grapeseed oil?

They are prone more than secretors to oral health issues.  My gums inflame and bleed easily.  Since they do not secrete the blood antigen to ward off pathogens, nonnies take the pathogen internally and use inflammation to destroy it.  

The antigen only can fight the pathogen once it is taken in since the blood type antigen is not secreted outwardly in body fluids to disarm pathogens before they come in.  So nonnies will have a stronger inflammatory mechanism internally.

I was told to use Mirrh by Dr D.. I used power, but I think oil would make it easier..

but I am very careful about doing all I can with water picks and regular visits to the dentist..

I also use electromagnetic waves to secure less leaking bone loss into the blood system.

Getting pentethine or at the very least Pantothenic acid (cheap) will make a big difference.. I needed it life long.. currently taking as much as 1000mg a day..
