Quoted from MarkSomeone on this board (not sure--Azure Agony or mikeo) was on a detox program under Dr. D's supervision. He was a hunter and had a lot of success on it.
I believe it consisted of:
-Foods high in sulfur such as garlic and onions
You could try adding the liver protocol. :)
Quoted from SuzanneI know the whole amalgam issue is controversial, and I won't dispute with those who are hyper sensitive to it.
But my dentist warns http://www.dadamo.com/B2blogs/blogs/blog1.php/SG-commentary/silver-dental-fillings that the greatest exposure to mercury is when you remove the fillings.
If you have had your fillings removed already, did something go wrong in the process? Did the dentist make a mistake that would expose you to such a degree that you need chelation? Did your dentist tell you to get chelation, and if so is he/she doing the procedure? Are you having symptoms of heavy metal toxicity?
Read my dentist's warning that there is more money to be made with plastic fillings and a huge amount of money to be made by replacing silver fillings.
I would want a second opinion before I did chelation unless the dentist botched the procedure or I was having symptoms. I would NOT let the dentist who did the replacement do chelation. Too much room for scams.
Quoted from JJR
Suzanne, I respectfully completely disagree with your Dentist on many issues. First off, his side of the story is not "The other side". His side is the side that most Dentists hold. They are the norm, and their numbers far outrank the more natural dentists.
First off, you can create the gas of mercury just buy chewing when you have Amalgam fillings in your mouth. So not only are you eating food, in his opinion, that has high mercury levels, but you're adding to it by chewing.
Secondly, you can reduce the amount of toxic metals you take into your body in food by buying organic, looking for sources that don't use pesticides. Etc. You will never get rid of it completely, it's everywhere, but why put some permanently in your body? I've never understood this rationale that if you're getting it from one source, you might as well just get it from another source too. Making the second source some how less toxic. If he's claiming that it is toxic in the foods, why would putting it in your mouth be safe?
Thirdly, many of us who do have Amalgams fillings have turned out to be Mercury toxic. Now, if someone dumped a bucket of mercury out in a school, they'd have HAZ MAT there so fast it would make you heads spin. Meaning, it's considered a highly toxic substance. Yet traditional dentists feel that it's OK to put a little in your mouth. That just doesn't make "horse" sense to me. Kind of like chinese water torture? Kill you slowly?
Fourthly: "PLASTIC" is not what the alternative dentists use. There are several different types of fillings that can be offered. Our Dentist uses an ND and his biofeedback machine to see which material will be best compatible with your body.
Fifthly: His overall philosophy is that people don't get sick from these toxic metals. Or at least that's what he's convinced himself of. Well, we have all kinds of health problems in this country, to which most traditional doctors have no clue how to fix or what the source is. Meaning, they have no clue as to what is making 2 out of 3 people get cancer, etc etc. I think if we were meant to have metal in our mouth and have it be OK, it would've been there at birth.
In my opinion, it's just not a good idea. You're entitled to yours, but there was nothing convincing in your blog that your Dentist said that made me any more comfortable about it.
I felt better after having mine removed. It didn't solve all my problems, no, but it had an affect.
To the OP though, you may feel lousy after getting them out. I had a period of about a month that I didn't feel good after each time. But in the long run, I felt a load off of my system. I was mercury toxic. And also a few other metals. The biggest thing that helped me with "chelation" was glutathione, gel and liquid.
Quoted from ChloeI was told I needed chelation 5 years ago. Tested by a blood lab and took a 24 hour urine challenge
test which showed I had off the wall levels of mercury, cadmium and arsenic in my blood and urine.
What I don't know is what is everyone elses blood and urine might contain. As a child I played with the mercury
when a thermometer broke. Dumb, I know but we didn't know mercury was harmful. And then I
had a bazillion silver fillings which at this point, 80% of them have broken and been replaced with
composite . My dentist like Suzanne's dentist doesn't believe I had mercury toxicity from
just my silver fillings. He assures me now that my 2 remaining silver fillings aren't leaking. SO
why the high levels of heavy metals in my body? I didn't want to spend thousands
of dollars out of pocket to resolve this issue without knowing for sure it was my only option. In
addition, I was warned that the danger in chelation was losing all minerals in my body....that drawing out heavy metals would also be leaving me seriously deficient in all minerals. It was proposed that after each chelation treatment I'd have go for IV drips of minerals. It was costly
and time consuming....
Still I wasn't sold on this protocol as being my only option.
What Mark quoted, a detox protocol is the route I opted for. I decided to eliminate all forms of
toxic fish. I decided to take a product called Pectasol complex which is supposed to be a natural
chelator. I'm personally a bit dubious about chelation....which is why I opted not to go for the
extensive chelation protocol. I did have 2 treatments....I looked and felt horrible afterwards....but I was also very toxic from
decades of chronic Lyme. I've come a really long way on my own without chelation. I also use
a lot of chlorella and eat cilantro pesto every day. (make pesto with cilantro instead of basil)
I also have a liquid concentrate of cilantro for when I travel.
If you have the time, please check out Pectasol complex. Read the research of Dr. Eliaz
And consider the many other options you might have as well.
I'm curious, who tested you and who is doing the chelation? I was told to be very wary if the
person who sent you for testing is also the person who is charging you to do the chelation.
I also feel I've brought down my toxic heavy metal load by a huge amount because I don't have any of the
symptoms I had prior to doing a natural protocol.
