I just want to say that I've been following the BTD/GTD for a couple of weeks now and...THIS IS BIG....I am sleeping mostly through the night...that's a big WOW because that's not normal for me. If it were just a day I wouldn't attribute it to the diet but it's been a week now, at least. I didn't expect it so I didn't document when it started...I wake up early but I'm getting my 7-8 hours and I have energy to go through the day. I still get fatigued but not to the point where I feel like I need a nap...I think I'm in love...haha...:)

I'll never forget the words Dr D said in his interview with Dr Oz......that's it's not enough to take away the bad foods, (which for me was gluten and soy, maybe dairy) but you have to give them the good foods to eat...that's not a direct quote, but  anyway as Oprah say's that was a WOW moment for me. It explained why just removing a bad food didn't necessarily heal the body...while it stopped the damage the good foods come along and assist the healing, that's what I get out of that anyway...just wanted to share my good news. I am delighted....(clap)

Yes, this is very BIG!!  Congratulations on this big success and I'd say you're reaping the benefits of feeding your body what it needs in order to thrive.  I've also experienced this sleep benefit.  It's wonderful to actually be able to go to bed, drop off to sleep and wake up when the sky gets light!

Congrats!

I never slept through the night until I was an adult- I think it might have been in my low-carb days, but I'm not sure.

I've since had a lot of ups and downs with the sleeping- sometimes I feel great and sleep great, other times (generally when compliance slips, but sometimes as part of detox) I don't sleep or feel as well.

That's awesome.  I haven't felt that yet.  Have all the other benefits (weightless, energy and a feel good feeling) amongst a few other unmentionable benefits.  But the sleep thing still evades me.  Think it's related to my liver, having that checked out.  

Is there anything in particular that you have added that you think contributes to the good night sleep?  Even though we're different blood types with different diets perhaps there is a common food.

Victoria yes, it huge for me. I am shocked when I wake up and it's not 3-4 in the morning, it's well after 6...:o(sunny)

Ruthiegirl have you been on this diet long? Yeah I'm sure I'll have some of those ups and downs too.

Twenzel I'm not sure what it is, but I'll tell you some things I've done.
Removed coffee, added some of the beneficial teas, green tea, ginger root tea and peppermint. I drink probably 4-5 cups a day...:P
I added the Nutritional Yeast, which has lots of the B vitamins and is a complete protein
Added sesame oil
Added whole Flax seed to my morning drink
Added brown rice cakes and ghee....

It's a mystery to me, and I want to know because I don't want it to go away. I always try to analyze everything, is that a Hunter characteristic ;D and I think possibly because I've removed most of the bads and have been eating a whole food 'paleo' diet for the last 3 years, that just adding a few things for my type might have done the trick but really I'm clueless...one thing I've learned is the more I learn the less I know...haha...

Congrats to you! I can resonate with this feeling. I am done with additives and preservatives which were the last VICES on my path in the btd. This week has been a little tough with being tired without the added artificial sweeteners sporadically throughou the day, however, I am feeling better than ever... and I love my sleep:)

Thanks Ribbit , Lola, and Marjorie...I never expected this and to happen so soon, too, I'm so grateful. My days and mood is nicer too. (evil)  

Marjorie can't you have honey or molasses? You're bound to feel even better without those artificial sweeteners! I hope you feel better soon. :)

I've been on SWAMI for over a year, and BTD for a year or two before that.

My father passed away about 7 weeks ago, and that's messed up my equilibrium. Partly due to the stress itself, and partly because I didn't always make the best food choices as a result of that stress. My sleep hasn't been great the past 2 months.

I noticed improvements in my sleep when I started also!  I still have some problems, but it's much better on the whole.

Glad to hear you are doing so well. I've been on a diet for about a month now. I noticed the greatest improvement after 2 weeks I felt alot more energy, no feeling of having a brick on my stomach and all in all my mood improved and I lost a lot of weight. So after that I quickly decided this was the thing for me and I wanted to go on Swomi to get the most out of it.  :)
I never had any problems with sleeping unless I ate large amounts of food in the middle of the night but I knew this was not good for me. Otherway I always slept well. I need my 6-8 hours of sleep and if I get it I am ok. But I am glad that improved for you too.

That's great...mine isn't perfect either but it's amazing how much better it is...I had no idea that it would happen so quickly. I had some Turmeric yesterday and a sleepless night...it's obviously not good for me, I knew this once but thought it time to try it again...:(

Thanks it's really nice to hear these kinds of reports. I think things are only going to get better...:) I feel calmer...more laid back...rare for this Hunter girl...haha...:)

I slept through the night last night also.  I use a little bioidentical hrt but even so it's huge.  I woke up at 6 & wasn't groggy.  Should never have drank the kefir.  Or listened to a certain online proponent of it......... :X

Last night I slept great!  I finally got myself a red LED light (a rope light, actually).  I blacked out my bedroom, turned on the red lights, and read for about two hours before laying down.  The red lights don't interfere with melatonin production the way normal light does.  When I went to bed I went right to sleep!
