Since this is made from rice protein, will it cause grain related weight gain?

I think it would count as one of your grain portions for the day.

I thought it would count as a "vegetable protein" because it's just the protein part of the rice. Whole rice contains a lot more carbs and fiber, and just a fraction of the protien per serving.

You may be right on that. If anyone has a container, we could see what the carbohydrate content is. It would probably answer that question.

The container says: Calories 130. Fat .5g. Total carbs 11g. Fiber 6g. Sugars 2g. and Protein 20g.

I think there's approx. 40 to 50 g carb in a cup of cooked brown rice. So 11 g is quite a bit less.
I revoke my earlier statement that the Type O protein powder would count as a serving of grains! ;)

good thought but I doubt the serving size is a whole cup, is it?

My grain portions are 1/4 c. per serving.

A similar carb content to one serving of type O Protein blend, eh? :)

I often wonder the same thing! I avoid grains so I stopped drinking my rice protein shake in the morning. Mine has 4 gm carbs per 24 gm protein. I'm not sure if it would still be bad for me since it comes from rice.
