hello my question is I had an ALCAT test done pre btd....Foods like eggs showed up as a trigger food for me as did many other neutral or beneficial foods like beef....what is your opinion on this?

I had testing like that done, and it showed that I am sensitive to a lot of foods.  i avoided them and at first thought I was doing better.  Things spiralled out of control, and I found out that my symptoms were being caused by something completely different.  By eating only things that I know are "safe" along with 1 food at a time (spread out by several days) from the list of things I am supposedly sensitive to, I realized I'm not sensitive to them at all (except soy!).  I used to completely believe in the benefits of food sensitivity testing, but this totally changed my mind.  I looked at research both for and against sensitivity testing and elimination diets, and now i'm really thinking it might not be what I had thought it was.  Some people do report having less symptoms when avoiding the foods they are told to avoid, but there have also been studies that tested people who had no symptoms to begin with, and the tests came back showing that they had all kinds of sensitivities.  I would say, if you feel better when not eating the foods your ALCAT test showed not to eat, then definitely continue to avoid them, but if you can't tell a difference, you may not really have any problem with them.  Basically, listen to your body.

I have no opinion, but I don't eat neutrals often, they are to close to avoids..

Goldie I am just finishing rereading live right 4 your you not feel really food limited eating only beneficials?

I have fructose malabsorption and just figured out that I most likely have SIBO.  The fructmal was the main cause of the symptoms that I thought were being caused by the other foods I was avoiding.  It has been a long, crazy journey and it's far from being over, but I've definitley come a long way.  Good luck  :)

My daughter has FM, as does her mother, they both tested negative for sibo by breath test, but i still think it is an issue.

I on the other hand, tested negative to FM, but positive to SOBO, it's a question of degrees.

With my daughter i have started introducing foods that are not low fodmap that are beneficial on swami once fro one meal , then i do the same 5 days later, i imagine she will have every food on swami over the next year. i believe in the BTD that much. as she gets better I'm confident that she will lose or at least reduce the need to be low fodmap.

she does have real issues with dairy, but that is to be expected as a blood type O. etc etc.
