I think it is almost on the burnt side. It is dark brown (I think my temperature is a little off on my stove). The bottom of the pot has brownish, black bits. I strained it and it is a dark brown. Is it still usable?  ??)

If it tastes burned, you may have to discard it, but if the flavor isn't bad, then use it.  The heat resistance may be damaged a bit, but again, if it starts to smoke when you are using it, reduce the heat.

I hope it is good so you don't waste the butter.  You may find that you like it this way, or reduce the heat or time to have a lighter product next time.

I would still use it. (what)   Next time, put your heat on the very lowest setting you can get on your stove and let it simmer as long as it takes to get golden brown sediment.  

The last batch I made, I put it on my wood stove where it sat for hours.  This was very different than my electric stove where the ghee is done in 20 minutes or less and quickly goes from done to burnt.

Some people on the Forum do prefer their ghee dark brown.  (I'm not one of them)  (goofy)

I am going to use it. It doesnt taste that bad. Actually it has a rather nice smoky flavor to it. I am sure it would be good with sauteed veggies and a nice T-bone steak (which I am having tonight). (drool)

Half the time that happens to me and the ghee has a nice "caramel" like flavor. The other half of the time it comes out bright yellow and much milder in flavor. Both are equally delicious.

Try this:  Crumble a couple of warmed rice cakes into a bowl.  Drizzle on some ghee and sprinkle on some salt.  Faux popcorn!

I did this once.  I fed it to my kids.  They didn't seem to care.  I try and stay away from burnt things, however, you O's can get away with murder it seems like.  Hehehhehhehee

I"m just jealous.  That's the thing about us AB's, we want the meat real bad, but our bodies only can handle a little, and not quite the assortment as you O's.   :'( And little things like ghee that's a little too overdone can actually upset my stomach.  So sensitive, I am.
