I finally entered my info 2 days ago.  I looked at the foods for me and today I started to cook differently.

instead of 2 Swami is giving me the courage to I chose one egg and cut up some celery. smeared the pan with ghee and just cut the celery into the pan and covered it, a minute later I cracked the egg over it.  I took my meds with it and tomorrow I will add Dr D's  PNS - Personalized Nutritcion Store) weight loss supplements..  

I also shopped for Elderberry juice yesterday in the health food store and its delish. need to look and see how it will react with my sugar issues.  I drank some last night and (think) I did not have a reaction.. kind of nice and sweet. the price will prevent me from guzzling it.

I also bought some quinoa for the first time. have no idea what to do with it, But curry powder should give it a nice flavor.. this will be a BIG change for me as I never eat grains in the house!!
I am planning to cook it and make small frozen packages to eat later.

Now my Swami has cut olive oil to what I use for cooking - about 3 teaspoons a week.. so I am good with that.

for lunch I will have lean red meat as always.

and make a salad with plum wine vinegar!! they did not have Umboshi but something called Umi plum vinegar.. I will see if I like it.

I am all exited even though in some ways I have fewer changes then expected.  having been on BTD for Diabetis seems to have prepared me well so far. The biggest excitement comes from having a new help mate in Swami.

What are your biggest discoveries on swami?  

I wish I could ask a question here and there but have not yet found such on option.  

I have only filled in the required fields and with it I am rated 40% Gatherer (GT2)  

How many times do you look at Swami? are you making additional entries? or leave it as is?  

I think it will be on exiting ride.. Just adding the RIGHT for me supplements is exiting. I feel much more on track..

Umeboshi vinegar, umeboshi plum vinegar, and ume plum vinegar are all different names for the same thing. Citrus juices also work nicely in salad dressings- I've used lemon, lime, and grapefruit (one or the other- I've yet to try combining them) and all were tasty, although obviously each gave a different flavor to the salad.

I recomend keeping that quinoa for dinnertime, rather than having grains earlier in the day.

I've only run my SWAMI once, since it's the pro version and I can't fiddle with it on my own. I've read and re-read it many times, but I won't ask Andrea to re-run it unless there's a MAJOR change in my health, such as entering peri-menopause. If I had the Xpress version, I'd proabably be fiddling with it constantly. Perhaps it's better this way: I have my list, I use it, and don't keep trying to get it to say what I want it to say.

Congratulations on doing SWAMI, Goldie!  :)  I'm glad that the transition seems like won't be difficult for you.  It takes some getting used to.  I look at my SWAMI every day, but I need to put it in a vinyl binder and take with me when I food shop.  I usually make notes on my food shopping lists, but sometimes I forget and then I make mistakes.  I need to pay more attention to my allowed portions and frequencies, and I'm beginning to do that.  At first, it's enough of a challenge to find your superfoods in local shops, and learn the avoids.  Step by step.  :)

Enjoy your Swami. I played with it all through out Christmas. Had so much fun. I still fiddle with it from time to time although I admit it confused me a little bit. It made me doubt which print out to use. Day day I just had to go item by item and tick what really, I mean really applied ;).

I find I do not need to freeze the quinoa. I just put it in the refrigerator and it lasts perfect for 3 days. I like Ruthiegirl's recommendation on having it at night to start with. I now also spread my 1/2 to 1 cup through out the day generally combined with vegetables and some eggs or animal flesh.

My biggest shock was realizing that the more ailments I checked the more diamonds and superfoods I got. I was very cross for being restricted for having just 1 ailment. Fortunately I was happy with the list.

I am now FIXING acid reflux.. with swami.. and with my head. so excited!!!!

ON MY diet it has few suoer foods but I dont care .. at least I like them  and don't mind eating the same foods..

For me the first thing I always do is to make a new shopping list.. then I go shopping in just the places where i will find such foods and leave all the rest to it shelf.. It saves me much money..

I am also interested in buying Goji juice? but at 38 dollars I would like to know that I will like it. they told me it has strange flavors????? does anyone know more  about it.. Drink for me is on issue, as I don't care for water so if I can trick me into adding water I am better of.

oh thanks about quinoa... .. I thought it would be like rice..

ok will separate the food.. might be a great idea then I can eat "more" times ?! silly..  

my intake of meat has changed.. to 4 times a week.. I will add turkey.. ah here is a big change!!!!  Lucky I was on turkey last year.. doing GENO Gatherer then, so the transition is less dramatic now.

IF that had not been the case then I would panic for sure as I would be AFRAID of being hungry..which is to stupid for words I have never been hungry..mental.. and I know it's all hog wash..

I am even more excited now since I can feel the acid refluxing even after lunch today! hope I get the sups for acid reflux by tomorrow.

Ume Plum Vinegar is marvelous stuff, and is effective against acid reflux.  Put one drop of it in your mouth and hold it there as a lot of saliva collects.  Then swallow the saliva in little bits until it is all swallowed.  Ume is very alkaline-producing in the body.

By the way, don't try to use this like "regular" vinegar.  It is very salty, so you might try starting with the smallest amount until you get the feel of it.  When I used to eat it, I would treat it as if it was like Tamari, just sprinkling a bit of it, or adding a small amount to olive oil as a vegetable drizzle.

Unlike most other 'grains', this Hunter does really well on quinoa and I actually like it for breakfast as a 'porridge' substitute with diamond fruits (fresh and dried).

Technically quinoa is not a true grain, but is the seed of the Chenopodium or Goosefoot plant. It is used as a grain and substituted for grains because of it's cooking characteristics. BUT for today : NEW PLAN ..

Deflect: I will take when going out for dinner -- for the avoids I will have -- in salad dressing or some other stuff.. (in my house I don't eat avoids)

Glycosia will get taken twice a day lunch and dinner for sugar issues.

Quercetin Plus for sugar issues on empty dstomach.. most likely will take it at night.. as I am never having on emty stomach during the day..

Reflux supps I will get the pills today.

TODAYS foods.. wish to loose some weight .. 9 am Febr 11. 11


Early AM:  I received the Harmonia Delux powder and mixed it with some  Elderberry juice concentrate and added water.. FOR BREAKFAST!  tasted ok

Breakfast: 1 egg
veg if need be 20 minutes later

Lunch: small portion of meat by it self..
veg or salad 20 min later if need be.

Snack: some prunes and nuts

Dinner out tonight.. will try to make it a large endive (white kind) salad.
if I am hungry a steak.. or I bring some walnuts and sprinkle on the saled..

Late evening Snack: I hope not .. rather have some protein drink..

w'll see.. how it goes.

Well today I am getting the results of the first supps for the acid reflux..

I will report here what progress I am making as that is important.

I am actually shocked that I ever even got this illness.. I wonder why?? what actually causes it.. unless its from finishing my plate.. could be .. I have done that lately to often. small portions cooked extra.. could not leave it on the plate..

I think I will buy on even smaller pan so I fill it less. less on the plate.  I like cooking every meal fresh making less even one or two oz is better then not.

I think I also need to look eating fewer walnuts.. and switch to pumpkin seeds as they satisfy me more..

EVERYONE SHOULD GET SWAMI'd.. just a neat way to have my diet suggestions on line..

I am glad to know you are so happy with your Swami. I alo like mine very much.

Why do you eat your veggies separate from your eggs and meat? Are you still having your hot cocoa in the morning?

The reflux could be from lying down too long after a big meal. I know of many spaniards with it. You know our reputations with the "siesta." ;)

My understanding is that reflux is most often caused by stomach gas pushing food / acid back up the esophagus.  Another cause is a hiatal (sp?) hernia allowing part of the stomach to slip through the diaphragm and push backwards...  For an O, not eating enough protein to cause the acid to be utilized is another possible cause described in another post recently.  There are probably many more causes as well...

Stomach gas is caused by improper digestion or flora balance in the gut...  Fix the gut and solve the problem.

The hernia can be helped by a massage to push the stomach back down away from the diaphragm - obviously this helps more with a minor hernia, rather than a major one...

I would follow the portion size recommendations in SWAMI.  One reason for this is to not be constantly eating.  You have to have time for exercise, you know... ;D   ;)   :o

I am separating foods for a while so as to support digestion to reduce acid reflux

I eat protein maybe more then I should..  KNOWING LEARNING now that I am in a state of permanent Hypoglycemia now makes me realize that that is a feeling i should no longer try to avoid.. some if it may be needed to make sure I don't use stuffing or fear as on excuse to eat more,

Protein portions seem to be a mix between BTD and GATHERER.. Having eaten either way maks this easy for me. Its going to be more turkey and less meat. I am good with that.

I am going to make guava and peach fruit I can have now along with less pineapple, and adding elderberry juice and cranberry back into the mix.. actually quite nice changes in SUPER Beneficial foods.

With the recent reflux I am taking Deflect and Gastro D Complex and hope that I get results quickly..this in addition to the weigh loss protocol..  then I also will eat some things less of.. Like Cajun Spice with lots of red pepper--  instead add basil ginger oregano paprika saffron and parsley.. that should make a Big difference.I will have to retrain my taste buds.. I can see where that will matter much as they are all of Medicicnal Super Beneficial Diamonds..

These changes might allow me to graze less .. eat less at times when I feel like sleeping .. no wonder my stomach was pushing up - instead of digesting downwards..      

Maye I will have less of a need to lye down.. (is that spelled correctly) I have been needing to sleep after eating EVER since I was a few days old..

I am looking forward to feeling better.. and if that does not get better I will have a test done to see f i have a stomach hernia as that could be .. the stomach pushing UP.. I can imagine this having been on age old issue.. even if I never knew  about it.. but suffered never the less reliving it by sleep..

Lye - this is the chemical that is mixed with fat to make soap.

Goldie, I have noticed that if I eat anything, even 100% compliant, before digesting my previous food intake heavily disrupts my digestion. I wonder if having your veggies 20 mins after the protein is doing you any good.

It is very hard to break the sieta habit. Try knitting or something that keeps you up straight.

I hope your condition improves soon.

Goldie- try to stay up at least 30 minutes, after you swallow your last bite of food, at a meal.  That gives it more of a chance, to make it pass the esophagus and less of a chance, for acid reflux.  It worked for me, once I found out about it.

Good info all around..

I am noticing more today that even the supps in the am are getting stuck half way down ..

I did some kind of damage it seems.. I may really benefit from the now much more important changes I will make.

Spices will be a first.. and more turkey might sit better.. and a change in fruit..

because I was on BTD for years and GENO Gatherer for one year a while ago.. I feel it no effort to go back and forth.. actually makes it fun ..

I am rather hopeful that I will make great differences as time goes on.  I think I feel already better in my upper throat.. not much pain when swallowing.  and I think I am loosing some fluids, or at least exchanging them under my skin.

I am still drinking to cocoa in the morning.. it keeps me satisfied for cravings..

my sis is cooking a turkey breast for me.. I don't wish to mess up my oven.. haha it will be a nice change .. and no more broccoli flowers will serve me fine too.. but I wonder is there a difference with the stems?? will try that later if ever it comes back to me.. for now Swami said avoid..

THIS Swami thing is fun.. it reads my mind.

I had this happening for a while...  It seems that when I drank more water before I took the supps, that I had less problem with them sticking in the esophagus...  I hope you figure it out, because it is really uncomfortable to have a supp stuck there.

I went shopping all day today and ate less .. and feel better, so that may be the trick.. breaking the habits of grazing ..

The pills help.. I have much less pain in my throat.. and I feel better about eating.. it seems that as long as I don't eat to much and take the supps, I seem to be better..

looking forward to tmorrow and be better again and again..

So today I ate.. successfully;

the meds as usual.. with edlerberry juice and water. 9am
and sups as indicated.

5 am fresh turkey slices / I think I had no dinner

9 am 1 egg

12. noon hot cocoa in water..

12.30 turkey slices

3 pm. 2 frozen prunes/ protein drink and blueberries in water.
Magic bullet is being used again!

5 pm fresh turkey breast slices.. almost could not swallow ..seemed to be full ..

later I will have some broccoli.. the last in the house..

WHAT is nice is that my above the waist stomach area feels much looser..today

I will have much time to drink more water.. yak lime will help..

so this is my beginning of wishful eating.. and no guilt!

I printed the shopping list in Swami.. will see how that compares to the lists in Swami.. I think there are some changes..  

I am happy I have no issues with any.

Yes I do two meals a day.. I add a handful of vegetables into the 5 inch pan and steam, or.. then add protein and cook to finish..

Swami added some new ones..and fewer green leaves which is good for my taste.

This is the leaves of the beet when it is growing.  Sometimes, the leaves are still attached when the beets are sold fresh in the store.  You can use the leaves as you would fresh spinach...  They taste sweeter than spinach to me.

I received a great chart to enter my food intake.. I will be able to see if I eat to much or not enough.

I deffinilty can not eat to much at one time, makes me feel uncomortable.  :o

but I can eat all day?.. will see on my new chart. ;D

I am grateful for this discussion and the receipt of the chart. 8)
