What do you say instinctively .. ? am I better of eating meat or this ?? for a snack?  I do try to eat a few nuts to go with the item below..

Fat O
Sat Fat O
Trans fat O
Cholesterol O
Sodium 5mg
Total Carbohydrate 26g --- 9% daily
Dietary Fiber 2g ---10%
Sugars 13g --- no additional info
Protein 1g ----no additional..

I am holding back, not saying what it is - other then I can have it as O .. but am concerned about diabetes.

If you are upset with this approach I beg your pardon.. but I would like to know as I like this food. and its food. and it is replacing sweet stuff.

Being a diabetic, for a snack I would say half of that plus the nuts

Geminisue ..ok so PRUNES are to be in half portions.. is that basically with all fruit!?  .. thanks..

I was looking at the carbs and then the sugar .. made me ask..  

I don't count calories, my issue is more with the diabetes.. I hope you are a tall person and so less likely to having issues later in life.

Geminisue what do you eat for snacks or in between food.and do you feel hungry? . (snacks - next to meat eggs and vegetables.. my 3 meal staples)

when I eat a mango I still fear that its to much sugar.. same with avocado.. then I end up cooking meat with it and make a meal out of it.. (no matter the time of day) makes the evenings longer..

Goldie...what do you eat for breakfast?  My fruit is first...half a grapefruit, or a nectarine, or a peach...or some papaya and maybe sometimes a banana.  For me...I hardly snack anymore and don't get the cravings.  Red meat protein (usually or three eggs) and lots of greens.  Both are so important for we nonnies to cut the cravings. I sometimes have a fruit later in the day, but try not to as the cravings will start.

Whatever that product is, I wouldn't have a meal or snack of pure carbs, period. I'd eat it with some fat and/or protein (a handful of nuts, ghee or almond butter or tahini, a hard-boiled egg, or a slice/smear of compliant cheese.)

Goldie- when I have my first meal, I count that as I don't get hungry anymore, I can forget to eat

breakfast, might be 1 egg and 2 egg whites, fried in 1 tsp olive oil, with paprika, cayenne pepper, cumin, tumeric sprinkled all over the white, I put sea salt on the yolk, when white is cooked, I cut it, so I can flip the part of the egg with the yolk over, count to five, and flip it back over, and put on my plate with the white put next to it. I will have that with 1/2 cup of grated celery, 1/2 cup of grated onion, 1/2 cup of grated mushrooms, and 1 T pimentos, which I put into a large cup, with beef broth (1/4 C) and cook for three minutes, in microwave, drain it, and add to plate.
3 hrs later I will have 1/2 pink grapefruit and 1/4 C pumpkin seed kernals 3 times a week, or I will have one lemon juiced, in two cups of cold water and I will eat 1 Tablespoon of almond meal

Consider Lunch: 3 hrs later 2-3 oz salmon, with 1/2 c of cooked asparagas, and 1/2 cup of green beans.
3 hrs later: 2 plums and 4 walnut halves

3 hrs later consider Dinner: 1 cup of quinoa, topped 1 cup of  spinach/w lemon juice and 3 oz ground beef(fried) ,  with salsa added when almost finished, plus cayenne pepper, parsley flakes, cilantro, sage.

3 hrs or an hour before I plan on going to bed, I check my glucose, if it is between 100-140 I have no snack, if below 100, I have 30 carbohydrates which may be

SNACK if needed: hard boiled egg white and a grapefruit, or 1 cup of crushed pineapple.

I don't count calories either. Or fat. If it's on my good list, I eat it.  If it's on my bad list, I avoid it.

Goldie, why don't you just check your blood sugar after eating prunes?

And in the Diabetes book, where are prunes listed?  If Dr. D says they're good for diabetes, then
he's right.

But I'm with Ruthie on this one...I'm not a diabetic, but I would never eat just carbs.  I mix
protein/carbs/fats in meals and in snacks.

Thanks ALL ,,,,,, ITS Prunes.. but thanks for all the other responses..

I will need to look and exactly see what I eat compared to the above list..

(I would like to say) I eat less but it may not be true..I need to check.

for me its most days

drinks no sugar in anything.

2 eggs and salt for breakfast.. no spices may learn to add some..

snack .. some nuts or a drink

lunch:..meat and vegetables with olive oil for lunch

snack; .. a fruit with nuts..or some prunes.. might need to cut down.

dinner:   meat and vegetables or a salad and some pineapple chunks.

I pretty much try to make this all I eat every day..if I cheat at home its with a few blueberries and pineapples later in the day...  

this keeps my weight as even as I can.. or at least not gain much..

I am afraid of fruit as I cam to BTD from low carbs and Atkins.. then I learned the value of fruit on BTD but I am afraid of it. ( but better then avoids..)

I am always short of air..

Goldie, I just checked the Diabetes book  for type O non secretor. Your portions per day
for Caucasians is 1-3 servings of fruit/fruit juices and that would be one cup.

Your super beneficial fruits would be blueberries, pineapple, plums and prunes.

I really think if you follow your portions and food options in the Diabetes book, you should
do well.

You might want to add beans (green, snap, string) and fava, northern beans because the fiber
will keep you full and stabilize blood sugar.

Also, are you taking quercetin, fenugreek and asian ginseng which are highly recommended for blood sugar control for O in the Diabetes book.

I think this describes a "pine float"!  That's glass of water with a toothpick floating on top for fiber. ;D

yes as long as they are super and beneficials in the diabetes book...  

I just cut all the prun's in half and froze them .. seems to allow me to eat same number of pieces..but making it 3 instead of 5 whole prunes.

prunes are sooo good! glad you can have them. Yeah to having them with a walnut stuck in. you know, walnut-stuffed prune? :D

I cheat 5% but I feel so guilty.. but hardly can ever stay on nothing but Super and Benficials.  I feel guilty about the fruit because for years I ate few.. but now that I am allowed to eat some I feel guilty.

Gave up ice cream in the fall, gave up most chocolate since I drink Cocoa.. but in the end I cheat 5%.. and don't know how to stop..  :o

Goldie, have you tried veggies fermented in salted water?  How many cups of vegetables do you eat?

I'm not used to the complex balancing act that diabetics need to master.  The more the advice is specifically geared for you - the better it will be.
