I am greatly upset.. I had a breakout of herpes 2 under my hip cheekbone /sitzbone.. it is the 4th outbreak, and I am upset, as I am on a immune suppressor drug already ... thinking I could get rid of it..

I had fever blisters all my life but this is new and I have no idea what where or when.. the virus can only live outside of the body for 3 seconds.. but still I go it..  (and never mind questions about sex--no way)

I am directly relating this dammmmmm thing to misery.. I am deathly afraid of shingles.. well this is just somewhat different, and the pain is a pain down my nerve path on the back of my leg..

BUT still I am certain that eating avoids or other not beneficials is what causes me to have this reaction.. IF I ATE right I would have what it takes to not have any such reactions..

my body reacts exactly right .. when I do right it is right.. when I do wrong it punishes me.. and it never ceases to surprise me how fast it knows and lets me know in many ways..

for me it does not take much to BE off the health farm.. I was out of my house a lot lately and find eating right the biggest challenge.. I know the facts-- but I am writing all this for others who are not following this darn way of eating to the fullest.. Please all ... try and try to be compliant.. its not worth going of.. I pay a scary price for my recent escapades.. I know when I am compliant and when I am not.. a few slices of bread and other stuff and I am just not the same.. my legs and whole body really puff up, and now I am as much as contagious to ME?? (for 3 seconds)

I am upset..

From Symbi the other day...

"...cut out high arginine foods (like chocolate and nuts) and am taking 1/2 lysine tablet on empty stomach (like you should do with aminos), in mid-morning and mid-afternoon (total only 500 mg a day!)

I'm being cautious with it because amino acids can be difficult for the kidneys.  Also upped my compliant dairy foods, meats and reduced high arginine foods like beans and grains.

Amazingly, I have more energy and my immune system is much stronger, barely having herpes problems anymore (only if I slip in diet then I could up the lysine dose too).  1300mg a day are recommended for herpes prevention btw.

Lysine helps the body make antibodies.  It's very cheap and worth a try!   Good to monitor your kidneys and liver with your GP.  I seemed to get lupus symptoms last time I was taking 3 a day for four months so I'm carefully monitoring myself. Worth a try!"

Hate to say this but I wonder if your drinking so much cocoa has upset the balance in your body?

so I am drinking one teaspoon of cocoa powder every day.. ???? I don't think it being the problem alone.. I ate other stuff.. but food definite brings out all the unwanted health reactions..

I am somewhat glad I have it not in the regular places.. but on the side of my cheekbone.. but still ..

and the outbreak is less then .5 inch.. was bigger before.. but the doc says I will have this possibility for life.. and could get worse stuff from it.. so so far so good.. but it is disconcerting as one never feels adequate..

I need to up my pantothenic acid - DRd has some better stuff.. will need to make a call.

FOOD IS SO poisonous when it is not the right kind.. I can think of many warning signs.. and this is just one more..

hmmmm, I have problems with this virus as well, and just a touch of chocolate can set it off....I am trying carob....don't know its arginine content...have to look that up.
I wish swami had a question about herpes....there is a diet on the web....no nuts and chocolate, basically. the O diet is helpful, cuz grains and beans are not great. meats and cheeses and veggies are fine.
I would put tea tree oil on the outbreak....or rather a cream containing TT oil.
must keep immune system well. vit. C.
Is related to Epstein-Barr, shingles.
and yes you can feel the pain moving down the nerve down the leg.

by the way, as far as the connection to sex.........hmmm, yeah, I had sex once, as I recall.......and that's all it takes. the virus can lie dormant for an unspecified time, then make itself known when you get run down.

It sounds like your immune system is juuuuuust strong enough to keep everything on an even keel.
Don't beat yourself up and create more stress, that will make things worse.
Pick yourself up, do some O exercise and eat some walnuts ;)

why oh why walnuts? (arginine)
oh, I guess the selenium...good for immune health.

I don't think it was the cocoa powder Goldie, I think it was the "few slices of bread" away from home.

You need to tell yourself you can't cheat away from home. Period. Eat before you  go anywhere. Keep compliant trail mix in your purse. Have a cup of seltzer or water and politely decline all the poison foods when you're out with others and food is served. If anybody asks why you can't eat something, it's because of the diabetes. No, you can't have one of those "diabetic" cookies either because your doctor has you on a special diet that doesn't include wheat flour or artificial sweeteners.

No need to clarify that the doctor who ordered the lab tests (and found your diabetes numbers getting worse) isn't the same doctor who "prescribed" your diet.

You can do this Goldie. I do it all the time. Yes, it's annoying and there are many times when I'd love to partake of what everybody else is enjoying- but it's just not worth it.

That cocoa I am eating one spoon of every day has resolved so many needs for chocolate.. that I am not yet willing to give it up.. // I never stopped eating reg choc from Switzerland.. but the cocoa in hot water is new ..

(BUT I GOT MY FIRST 3 OUTBREAKS under  my sit bone 3 weeks after getting the SHINGLES vaccine!!!  and even though the med docs don't agree+ I am connecting the two.. timing and all.)

Yet if anyone is afraid of shingles as I am, I would still do the vaccine .. BUT maybe ASK DrD about that?????

Back to cocoa... It's a neutral according to Doc D.. so in my case it could be my Achilles heel??

as for reg outbreaks I have followed Doc D's protocol and if I did it again I am certain I would do just fine...

INSTEAD : I am most likely doing a stupid thing.. I am taking Valtrex low dose for the full year, in the quest to knock it out..

BUT my new contagious disease immune Med Doc just got done telling me: that I will never KNOCK it out of my system.

I asked about having gotten this one from a toilet seat as my 4 outbreaks all have been right at the edge of such seats.. his answer: no, as the virus can only live 3 seconds outside the body.. the transfer had to be intimate or manually somehow .. or self inflicted .. the next time I am having a fever blister I will have it cultured just to see If I indeed did this to me .. (I am grateful it's not internally or near my bottom as that must be even more painful.. and scary to boot... (actually looking at that = it's like what I am afraid of= SHINGLES.. but they tested it: it is Herpes ll..

Yet he also said: that I could shed the virus even without knowing it and even without on outbreak at all.. hence my posting this here for all to see.. educational..  :B

IF I may advise : contrary to my mortified self.. I would rather follow DrD's protocol as it is cheap and certainly helped years ago..

Now the choc I never stopped eating it.. but the cocoa is new -about a month .. and 8 month after the caccine and 6 month after the last of the 3 outbreaks.. yet I will say THIS outbreak is smaller in size and 50% LESS painful...

Ruthiegirl.. and yes.. its the avoids.. no doubt about that.. but the outbreak actually happened before the bread.. ha-ha .. I would not admit to it even if.LOL. Hahira

BUT yes all sort of stress does bring on fever blisters -- which I have not had for some time..

Back to DrD's protocol.. so simple.. then100mg Pantothenic acid cheap over the counter for ever every other day (my suggestion), ==== or better yet DrD's sups, according to his suggestion and then maintenance for life (also every other day-my suggestion) ..

I BET IT WOULD CURE OTHER THINGS AS WELL>> B Vit is on issue with us O's..

Walnuts are good for anti-viral.

foods to eat and not to eat for herpes viruses

Dietary management includes eating food that is rich in lysine and poor in arginine. Foods that have more lysine than arginine are:

Most fruits and vegetables
Particularly mango, apricots, pears, apples, figs
Papaya (pawpaw fruit)
Beets (beetroot)
Milk and dairy products (including ice-cream, cheese and yoghurt)
Eggs
Avocados
Tomatoes
Fish, Chicken, Lamb and Beef
Brewer’s yeast
Sprouts

Foods that are notorious for their excess arginine over lysine include:
Nuts
Gelatin
Chocolate
Carob
Coconut
Seeds
Oats
Whole wheat and white flour
Lentils
Brown rice
Peanut butter
Dried beans including soybeans and tofu
Wheat germ

It's probably more of an issue of balancing lysine foods with arginine foods so the lysine foods
get high priority.

When I had Lyme disease, I had many co-infections that were in the herpes family...I took lysine in
pill form.  Dr. D's Genoma Derma formula contains 100 mg of lysine. Wonder if that would be
helpful for herpes. Good for the skin.  http://www.4yourtype.com/prodinfo.asp?number=NP047

I definitely would consider Genoma Security.

1 tablespoon of cocoa powder has one gram of protein.  Since lysine and arganine are amino acids, they're part of the protein component- meaning it can't possibly have more than 1 gram of arganine, and probably only half or a quarter of that.  And if you're only having a teaspoon of cocoa each morning, it's only a third of a gram of protein per cup. If you have that cocoa with a lysine-rich food (such as one egg) or a lysine supplement, you've changed the lysine-arginine ratio back to where you need it to be.

I see no reason whatsoever for you to give up your morning cocoa. It's doing you too much good with banishing cravings that I think it might be dangerous for you to stop it. Just add some lysine to your meal or snack with the cocoa and you'll be all set.

you are probably right, ruthiegirl. balance of arginine/lysine is the thing.
Chloe's link suggests olive leaf among other herbs. Interesting....I have an olive tree....

Tom, Cloe, Jayneeo, Ruthiegirl..  THANKS all .. I have eggs most days so now I will just have to cocoa and the eggs together..

as for all the foods listed I eat many of the good ones listed.. and lucky me NON of the avoids.. other then I have been eating pumpkin seeds but don't think they are the reason as I have not eaten mane lately.. yet it is one food I have added since the vaccine time.. but I am at the end of a big plastic container.. so I will not get more..

Brewer’s yeast.... I guess the B vit.. makes sense.. need to do the plunge and get some.. what form best to buy and use??

Milk and dairy products (including ice-cream, cheese and yoghurt)... ok I just gave it up ha-ha good thing I did not read that before.. LOL

Papaya (pawpaw fruit)  never had courage to buy it.. how to eat.. just cut or cook?? those are big longish green yellow things??

Guys you made my day..  8)

I had fever blisters all my life but this is new and I have no idea what where or when.. the virus can only live outside of the body for 3 seconds.. but still I go it..

It is possible that it has been residing in fatty tissue and the body is doing some house-cleaning and opened the fatty tissue up to remove it and the virus is now active until the body kills it and cleans it out as well...  Maintain your diet discipline and keep your emotions stable to allow the body the most energy to fight it off...

Oh Goldie please don't feel so down as shingles is a terrible thing but I believe you bring it onto yourself through being stressed and having a low immune system.

I got shingles earlier this year and the pain was unbearable.  I had stopped doing the BTD, had started drinking too much and I believe my immune system was very low.

This was all due to the stress I was feeling at having my inlaws from England stay with me for three months.  I didn't want to tell my husband that I didn't want them to stay for that long period of time.

It's good that you are using this site to be able to talk.  Keep talking and keep trying to be healthy which will help build up your immune system.
