soo have realised I am a sugar fiend, it is always masquerading behind my SWAMI goodness.
I think I am abusing carbs and sugars in some way trying to justify it by dosing myself up with sweet, starchy vegies, dairy goodness and alt sweetners, plus fruit.

a typical day for me would be:

green tea
with tsp each:
cocoa
coconut oil
maple syrup

snack:
walnut butter
coconut oil
cocoa
maple syrup

supps

2 eggs
sour cream
butter
chives
sea salt
cayenne
tasty cheese shredded

green tea

dried sour cherries

blender drink:
blueberries
corriander
witlof
strawberries
coconut oil

poached cod
butter
white wine
chives
carrot
sea salt
my own veg stock

glass white vino


sunday

water / EVOO

ah, that is 3 days from a couple of weeks ago, but typically that is how i eat.

after reading about candida, FODMAP, yin, yang, acid / alkaline etc etc I have been concerned / confused and realised I may be interpreting my diet with a good dash of miss-use and sugar loading.

I could certainly use some more weight and muscle, better skin and less crampy feelings sometimes I am doubled over with intestinal(?) pain ::)

Thought it may be a nice experiment to paste my recent food log for your analysis / input where I could be going ok / not ok...

noting that I have been influenced by reading through Candida diets recently (tongue coating is disturbing sometimes!!) and wondering if I need to do that or just adjust my portions to a less carby / sugary arc....

yesterday:

water with chia seeds and coconut oil
green tea

4 eggs with tumeric, yoghurt, sea salt, cayenne, garlic, lemon juice and olive oil

green tea

sliced fresh ginger in hot water x 3 cups

large serve of cod poached in butter with sea salt, lemon, shallot
broccoli / peas served with yoghurt sauce (raw garlic, lemon, sea salt, cayenne)

green tea with organic raw cocoa powder

today:

2 eggs with yoghurt, broccoli, raw garlic, lemon juice olive oil and sea salt.

green tea x 3
ginger tea
green tea w cocoa

I am finding it very difficult today, low energy when I woke up, and just had some dried cranberries (with apple juice) which means I could only do the candida diet-thing for 1.5 days.
it is hard core!!

any other nonnies /nomads/ B's beaten candida susceptibility by the power of reducing your carbs and sugar loads?

first of all : honey Bee.. I mean is there a name or not?? what's in a name.. ?

I have fought sugar IDEAS from every angle.. in the end it's not just sugar but lack of other things and habits and memories and excuses.. and addictive behavior, and misguided weakness, and home sickness, and wishing for hugs and loving to much..

and nothing had anything to do with the actual sugar..

the biggest discovery.. is that now I can and do drink one spoon of cocoa in hot water in the morning and I am good to go.. it does something to my mind.. I think it sets up the serotonin levels for me and I am good all day..

I am O so not the same.. but I am the same when it comes to not knowing all, so taking one step at a time,, falling down often, getting up again is my way of learning.. and little by enormous leaps I make my world ok..

stay and learn, stay and focus, and stay and forgive all the past failures -- by now they are new EXPERIENCES!! and that is good..

yes it was revelation for me, all that hidden natural sugar and carb!! As the saying goes...too much of a good thing  ::)

interesting take on the sugar angle Goldie, not sure if it is a subconscious or psych issue, but perhaps  ;)

anyhow, I am sticking with it for now, dinner was lamb with curry powder and peas, added good amounts of dried chilli, yoghurt, coconut oil and butter for richness, to help get me over my cheese and fruit cravings, worked a treat.  
I have noticed changes in my irises already, my 3 month SWAMI re-set ends this week too - EXCITED.

geno just keeps getting deeper and deeper, into my blood so to speak

sipping my green tea with coconut oil and a tspn of unsweetened cocoa Goldie, no maple syrup  ;) raising my mug to you and yours  ;D

I'm not yet convinced of that, Goldie.  I think it has something to with the sugar, but it's not only about the sugar, plus all the other stuff you mention is there by association with sugar.  I do think sugar is an addictive substance for some people.  I have given up sugar before but it is one of the most difficult things I've done...similar to giving up smoking, and sugar is probably just as poisonous as cigarettes.

The big thing I see missing is veg. Especially dark leafy greens. Throw some in your blender drink (kale is excellent in coming out neutral to balance fruit).

What's up with all the coconut oil?

Is your cocoa just plain cocoa or does it have sugar in it?

Otherwise, depending on quantity, I see this on a quick scan as being pretty good. 1 tblsp of maple syrup, not a ton. But if you get to know green tea on it's own, (especially the Japanese variety on this site) it's quite lovely. I'm going to go have a cup now.

Completly missed your candida/digestive concerns on first scan. Not too familiar with diets to address this yet, though I think these diets overall are designed to bring the body back to balance.

Are you on Polyflora B? Might be something to check out. Gastro D also helped me in the beginning getting my gut in order. I was only prescribed one bottle. I continue to take Polyflora A daily and it seems to be superbeneficial.

Yep, unsweetened cocoa - since BTD I am a religious ingredient reader and pref to only use raw, whole-food ingredients.

The coconut oil is a funny one, but it is listed in my SWAMI as genoharmonic with allot of other foods like green tea, for detoxification... it is also anti-fungal...

I would love some polyflora B, will put it on my wishlist... and I do have some gastro D, will get into that.

OKay, you got me on the greens!! I have started taking chlorella and will pump a few more greeny things like spirulina, spinach, kale ... Thanks for taking a look!

I read the book "Sugar Blues" by William Dufty back when I was 9. (lol a little young but I was fascinated with health even back then. I hated fiction unless it was a movie. ) And this book made a lot of sense to me.

Since starting the btd I have also realized that our addictions or fixations with certain foods are focused on those that aren't good for us. Yes we can get happy that we are having steamed broccoli with rice and sauteed soy but we aren't addicted. We happily partake and are satisfied after eating our highly beneficials.

If you talk to anyone with a substance addiction they will tell you that they don't know why they want it, they just do.

I guess for me with sugar it has to do with the endorphin rush. The sugar imbalance high. Call it what you will but I still do think that there is merit to staying away from sugar... especially the white refined stuff.

When it comes to sugars in foods that are neutrals or avoids... definitely stay away from them. Sometimes will power just is not enough to keep you within a controlled quantity.

If there are sugars in your highly beneficials... like for me chocolate is a highly beneficial but I'm only supposed to be having it as a "condiment" and not eating that much at all. Have you ever picked up a chocolate bar and only eaten one piece and put it back down? I have problem only done it once or twice in my entire life... although I can't recall them at this point. So maybe even never. lol So with this in mind I have stopped eating chocolate all together.

It might be like asking an alcoholic to just have one glass of wine a day as it would aid in their btd. It all comes down to what you "feel" is best as you follow the btd. It's about individualized health.

As for over carbing it... the fact that you even "feel" it's an issue enough to post it... I would agree that it is. So good on you for being accountable for your personal wellbeing and overall health!

I can eat the size of a small finger nail of 85% choc.. lees if it is 95 or 100%.. but if it has more sugar then the whole bar gets eaten..

AS I AM drinking the pure cocoa in hot water my desires have changed dramatically.. BUT interesting ,, habits could allow me to go back to a choc bar with more sugar, as I IDENTIFY energy gain after I eat sugary stuff..

BUT interestingly I am much less (self involved with whatever) lately and can handle stress much better, have a much better sense of tolerance, forgiveness, and acceptance.  I am feeling less like a victim even with 2 days without heat.. haha I can feel more righteous anger over stupid injustice things and I can express myself, without needing to raise my voice.. I also can withhold info less pertinent or more volatile BY MY choice!  

Its on interesting journey that started with a few 5HTP's.. a while back.. and now pur cocoa in place of other drink in the morning.  (even can do water more often)

Yes I am going to give this book for xmas to a young people who need it.. IT is a  8)  great read..
