BTD Forums  /  Nonnie Clubhouse  /  hungry no more..
Posted by: Goldie, Thursday, November 25, 2010, 7:33pm
I have been hungry for 47 years in a strange way.. I was ill for a day (bug) and a doctor 'predicted' that I would get diabetes then.. I was fit to be tied as my way of life was supposed to change for ever!!!!!!!!!!!!  I never believed it -- and did mostly nothing about it.. and all was well --until I was in my 50ties and was told that I was getting syndrome X because I since I from 45 to 53 gained 70 pounds (to 198 pounds) ..  I lost 30 pounds with BTD/GTD.. BUT from that day on 47 years ago...  I was hungry or over stuffed as a way of life..hungry for anything..

Then a about a moth ago I took some 5HTP to support my mood that was becoming more and more emasculated.. feeling hopeless and weak -- which I am never in any way... but I felt my body was doing stuff to my mind.. so I tried 5HTP ( precursor to the liver making Testosterone-- )  took them for two weeks and started to feel more empowered again.. stopped taking them and waited to see how long I could maintain that result.. --over a month.. then now I take one a week and it is more then enough.. success number 1 !!!!!

Then I bought cocoa powder and drink 1 teaspoon of it at early rising in how water.. took some getting used to.. but NOW I finally have no need for coffee.. success number 2 !!!!

finally I read less then a week ago that Magnesium would be a good thing for many symptoms I have.. __ I LONG believed that some extra ordinary need was causing diabetes over the years as I am Gatherer-- I had taken Magnesium before to no benefit.. BUT then I read that Vit B6 was needed to absorb Magnesium.. as I took this before also I had some home and started to take BOTH magnesium and B6 and felt the uptake on a day in the form of NOT being HUNGRY any more since 4 days!! Success number 3 !!!!

when I read that the combo of Vit B6 and Magnesium will make it possible to loose some water retention which I had as of late when I was eating a 4 NEUTRAL combo product  that did not agree with me in mayor ways.. I had gained over 7 pounds in less then 10 days..  but could not lose it afterwards.. until now.. I lost 5 pds of water weight in less then 4 days.. with the above.. and just hopefully I will continue to lose some other real extra weight, which is possible if I am not ravenous at all times.. Success in the making !!!

IF I am feeling better a month from now I will be ecstatic.. I am sharing this in hope that others might benefit from MY O nonnie experience.. which is indeed a breakthrough for right now -- hope it will be all that I could ask for after 47 years of when my life changed to a long line of misery I felt from food hunger and weight .. I might actually have some hope now.. I will report back as time goes on..

and all of you helped  ;D.. thanks.. 8) on a day when normally I would eat way to much.. Have a good day all  :).. as for Vit B6 I take 250 twice a day and magnesium 500 along with it.  (V6 I think Vit B6 is Panthothenic Acid, and DrD has a better sup for the needs of it..( but for now I take just store-bought from Windmill  because that is what I had at home form years ago when I first tried one or he other but never together!!) things are looking up...

If I was 20 and gatherer.. I would start taking the above in the hope of averting diabetes 40 years later.. what if it was the thing we need??   the same for those who drink alcohol.. as it might be the thing to cause alcoholism as well -- just my guess.. have nothing to back that up!! I never drank but the need to over due is the same in my mind! 8)

Hi Goldie, how interesting to read about your improvements. I have ordered 5-HTP and are now waiting for them and excited to see if they will work for me. I have read about 5-HTP that it can be a treatment for depression, sleep problems, weight loss, depression, carbohydrate craving, PMS and more. I want to test them primarily for my sleeping problems. I have tried melatonin but that don't seem to help for me. I have heard that about 20 % get no effect from melatonin supplements so I am probably one of them.

Thanks Lola for the info about 5-HTP. Does it matter if I am LDN (blood) and secretor (saliva) and take 5-HTP, I mean should I consider myself non-secretor regarding to how I respond to 5-HTP since my blood is tested LDN, as with the BTD diet? Still not sure about saliva secretor status.

that is entirely for you to decide :)

Maybe my question was little bit wrong, but I mean that maybe 5-HTP won't work if I am secretor? Well I guess I have to try it though, I really hope it will help for my sleeping problems since melatonin doesn't seem to have any effect on me.

My boss says 5htp actually keeps her awake, so she gave me her bottle...;) I can take it at night & it doesn't stop me sleeping, but I can also take it after a night of no sleep (kept awake by loud storm) & be alert in the daytime...

Experiment maybe when it doesn't matter? :-/

I had the same thing. Always hungry, always looking for food and then I ate and would eat way too much and sit with a stuffed feeling  for hours. When I started GTD I just ate until I could no more but as much diamonds as possible. I did not look at the prescribed amounts but ate until I was full (and most of the times beyond that)... and slowly but surely it began to chance. I am not so hungry anymore and I am full faster and I stop as soon as I'm full. I am trying to stick to the amounts prescribed now and hope I will loose more weight.

Now I even have to remind myself that it's time to eat, because if I don't, I know I will get cravings... and that is not good.

I'm actually not, but may start again... I usually have no trouble sleeping, (except at times like that really noisy storm) so just took it as to experiment in helping me be alert the next day for work... ;)

I'm not Lola, but try this:

Bring up Google.  In the search box type this:

5-htp site:www.dadamo.com

Also, try this:

5-htp archive site:www.dadamo.com

Hope that helps!  :)

Lola has a great memory, so she knows what is in the archives. It may not be exact but she knows where to look for these things.

So let her do the searches I think she likes to :) ;).

Hi Goldie, here's a link to a site that describes all the benefits you can get from  5-HTP:

http://5htp.com/

It is said that 5-HTP can be a treatment for depression, sleep problems, weight loss, depression, carbohydrate craving, PMS and more. I want to test them primarily for my sleeping problems. I have tried melatonin but that don't seem to help for me. I have heard that about 20 % get no effect from using melatonin so I am probably one of them.

I am excited to see what effect 5-HTP will have on me after I have read about your improvements. I hope I will recieve the 5-HTP this week with the mail.

Wow, this is from "Live Right 4 Your Type"...Even though I have read this book, I missed these details...Hope it helps ;)

"If you crave carbohydrates your serotonin levels are low & your brain is demanding stimulants to raise your serotonin levels. Try taking 5htp, tyrosine, or glutamine between meals to cut down on your cravings."

Not on topic but Dr D goes onto say: "For women, I've found that low estrogen can produce carbohydrate cravings. One or tow capsules of the herb maca can help normalize your estrogen levels." From page 170 of "Live Right.."

never not I.. but super power oh yes..

so here is how I do a search I go to the top and search.. under my name on the right  f I wrote on the subject .. then going to the left and writing a word.. then looking for 100 days Titles only..

is that what you are doing??

but you have this library of links that is just wonderful..

I don't seem to like the writing in a word in the little along box above as it makes it cumbersome...

BUT I would like to find the NGEO type discussions not seen here.. I thought there are some..

OR!!!!!?? would I just click in the Place where one can see all the categories?? when choosing little fishes or some other place.. did I just over look that way of searching???

sorry If I did.. sometimes it takes me to ask the question before I get the answer????

i thought 5htp was the precursor to tryptophan which is converted into serotonin?
That's why it's so popular among the ecstasy community because after you dose the next day your serotonin levels are way low.

Anyways, cool story bro.
