BTD Forums  /  Live Right 4 Your Type  /  Why Are Non Secretors More Sensitive Than Secretor

O.k. i'm confused about this as i'd thought that the more places (fluids) in our body that our blood type resides would make us more sensitive to the outside world. Instead we non secretors seem to be the most sensitive when it comes to our food choices and exposure to the outside world and yet our blood type is not in any of our body fluids i.e. non-secretor. Where am i confused here ?

Nonnies get the best of both worlds(so to speak.)  We can have sensitivities to one or the other or maybe nothing at all. :) ;)

I think there must be some kind of protective effect of having blood type antigens in other body fluids, although I'm not sure exactly how that works.

My understanding is that secretors are able to fend off unwanted organisms faster because they have antigens in their saliva and mucus.  As nonnies our first defense is in the digestive system. :B

One of the things that has helped me avoid viruses is daily sinus rinses with my Nasaline, also sloshing and gargling with warm salt water morning and evening.  Viruses have an incubation period, and if they are hanging out in my throat, nose or sinuses, I like to rinse them out before they get down to mischief.  I also rinse my eyes with warm saline for the same reason.

As a nonsecretor this makes perfect sense to me.  It often feels like there is always a threat lurking about. I'm always looking for ways to be more proactive. Now I understand better why I'm naturally inclined to do so.
