I've noticed that a lot of As and Os have responded to other polls, and very few Bs and ABs. I'm curious what the breakdown is of various blood types on this board. Are the As and Os posting more, or are there simply more of us on this forum?

I'm an O.  I think As and Os are more numerous than Bs and ABs, therefore more responses from As and Os?

Also an O voter. Thing is that in different parts of the world, or even within various parts, the percentages of different types varies considerably. This should give us a rough idea of how the population of the board sorts out.

Well here at home I'm the only A and my 4 month old son is the only O. My mom is AB my stepdad is B and the rest of my siblings are AB. Of course I'm the only one following my type completely and my son is still breastfeeding. Everyone else seems to feel healthy enough that they just aren't interested in the BTD. Oh well... they will come to it when they get sick and need help.

Let's see...  The general breakdown of population is 40% each O and A.  The remaining is B @ about 15% and AB at about 5%...

This means that there should be about 8 O's, 8 A's, and 3 B's posting here for each AB...

I'm a B...I typically just lurk.  In fact, this is my first post!   :P

I think over the past 15 years the number of AB's has increased dramatically. I am finding AB's everywhere and that not just in my own family either.

I'm an O, but find my type to be a minority among the circle of people I know in my part of the world (mainly Chinese people). I have many friends who are Bs, As and even ABs!

Ok, so there really aren't any board members with crazy rare bloodtypes that don't fit the ABO groupings at all. I wasn't even sure if such a thing existed, or if all the rare blood types were still a subset of ABO, which is why I included the 'other' option.

My other poll, asking about bloodtypes in your household, is "select all that apply." Many people, myself included, are preparing meals for more than one type.

I wonder if there will ever be a new blood type that develops out of necessity?

It's hard to imagine that my daughter and I are in such a minority.  She's a B and I'm an AB.  My son and wife are just your run of the mil A's.  Hehehehe  Actually, I think it's possible they are nonnies, but we haven't tested them yet.

Another B vote here. The B antigen just isn't very common so that's why there aren't many B's or AB's. I remember when I got tested the lady was shocked I was a B because she hardly ever sees them and then tested my sister who is an AB and got a double shock ;)

These numbers are from Stanford University's blood center and are recent, for the US. I consider them reliable. Y'know what's interesting here? The 44%-O, 42%-A, 10%-B, 4%-AB distribution is exactly the same as numbers from 1983. I would think there's been a huge Asian influx, increasing the B proportion, since then, living in California as I do. But, yes, also the O's from Latin America. A's aren't losing any market share, however. Wonder why? :)

I could make all of those foods in compliant versions (except for the cheeseburger part, since the only way to make a kosher cheeseburger requires highly processed fake cheese. Unless you melt mozzarella on a black bean burger....) I regularly make pizza and chocolate chip cookies with spelt flour.

I'm B+, with a B+ brother, an O+ brother, an O- brother, a B+ dad, and don't know mom's type.  She thought it was A+, she does fit the A profile, and she's not big on eating lots of meat, but shouldn't I have an A brother in there somewhere?  I know it's not necessary...

It is possible that she is an A with a recessive O and that she passed on the O in all 4 cases.  

Hi I am an O + , I have only started on this way of eating , today is day 3, having some headaches but that is usual for me on any new diet I try especially on day 3.

Dad's a Bo for sure.  Mom could be oo, Bo, or Ao.

Thanks for the welcome, I have checked with my 4 sisters and they are all o +, my 5 brothers don't have a clue, my 2 daughters are both B+, havn't asked my son yet.
I havn't had much of a weight lose yet, but my mind is less fuzzy, and best of all I havn't had any perscription medication for my acid reflux for 2 days now.

I think if your Mum was A you could have an A/B sibling.  She could be O and that would explain the 2 B's, and 2 O's.

I think many have not responded because there are not many of us. The poll is quite similar to the ABO scientific findings. Besides, Bs are wierd anyway.

Mon. night... and now the Bs are up over 17% on the poll... If we go by the estimate of 10% are Bs worldwide, I'd say Bs are represented disproportionately high on this poll.  Wonder why...

Hi. Please supply source for 16% figure. All the world data I've seen shows closer to 10%. Never seen anything reputable above 11% for a global figure, but would like to see the data. Thanks! :D

Always found this interesting. I figure it tells us that a similarly high proportion of those who are seeking other "alternative" modalities are also nonnies, whom mainstream medicine has trouble diagnosing/treating. And nonnies may therefore be the ones seeing the most dramatic positive results from following D'Adamo's prescriptions.

This whole secretor/nonnie story is certainly among the most important aspects of the D'Adamo work. :)

This was linked from a blog on this website... which I can't find at the moment... regarding 16% of Bs in world population.

There was a post that I was looking at yesterday which linked to a blog here on this website... there was a blonde woman and now I can't remember the discussion... and she also discussed in vitro selection of sexual preference.

It sounds like that website was lumping Bs and ABs together with that 16% number, and that the % who "have the A allele" similarly included both As and ABs.

Okay, I'm not sure, but I think it was on one of Sante's blogs... someone linked to her yesterday, or I read a post yesterday with the link, but I can't find it now.

In any case, I'm surprised thata Bs are even more rare than I thought.

I just picked up an interesting thought from the web... A LOT of the world's population hasn't even been blood-typed... so how can we possibly know the percentages of each blood type in the world?  Every number is an estimate, or not?

Both parents are O blood types and of course so are all of their offspring. I am O- and I know that at least one of my sisters is though I don't know what my other siblings are. I think that none of my siblings were in danger of being "blue babies" (from a Rh- mother and a Rh+ father) though I would have to ask, so that would mean that both of my parents were either - or + or that my mother is + and my father is -. Is that latter presumption correct?

A+, i think the plus tells it all.  ;)

I'm AB husband is O both rh-.  Haven't yet tested the three kids and my parent.  My husbands mother is O as well as his sister and nephew.  

Here's a small observation.  So here I am amongst all these "dominant" O's how is it that I, quit AB, run the show when we're all together.  Isn't in O's nature to be more aggressive?

Did you know chimpanzee blood can be transfused to humans if needed in a pinch if it is a blood match?  Chimpanzees are almost all blood type A and some O.

I learned this in a book "Among the Great Apes" that i am reading.  I think this is cool.

I'm an O and so are my two children.  

I vaguely recall a show I saw long ago, I think it was on Oprah, that talked about people having blood transfusions and then taking on some very different characteristics after that, probably implying that they took on the characteristics of the people whose blood it was.  Not sure if there is or isn't anything to that, but it was interesting.

Apropos the blood type distribution - as an A I find it rather comforting that in Norway and Sweden, top countries with the highest life expectancy, about 50% of population is type A.

my family - well... it's complicated.

my birthfather is AB+ and my half sibs are B-, AB+, and B-
(their mom was an A-)

My nieces and nephews are predominantly Bs and ABs, as are my aunts and cousins

I don't know my dad's secretor status for sure, but i would wager he is a nonnie.


my birth mother is O+ and a nonnie. I do not know what my 2 half sibs are. The younger one is almost for certain an O (he's a gatherer and half pacific aboriginal). The other i am not sure... he is half japanese so ?? If i had to guess... i would say he is probably a B.

I think the usual dietary emphasis in advertising food is wrong for O's.

The grocery stores have this emphasis.

If O's are pitta types, O's don't fare well at restaurants either. Restaurants seem best for ayurvedic vata and kapha types. I think they are most motivated to own the restaurant and determine the menu.

I would say O's are the most likely to need helpful information.

If and A or B lived in a meat and potatoes environment, they would be left out. As an O, I am happier without the potatoes.

Now, where is that red meat, vegetables, and local fruit society?

I would add:

If we are ayurvedic pitta types, our digestive fire is strong. We consume practically anything, feeling well at the time.

However, pitta types are subject to chronic illnesses that take a long time to appear. I think that is explained by having consummed foods to avoid for our blood type and, very likely, our genotype.

If we find the blood type diet, we have a great deal to be grateful for.

It would be better, if we had the blood type and genotype diet at an earlier age.

If the participants in the forum are here because we have recognized problems in connection with food, I would expect more type O pitta types because of the food emphasis in the common dietary guidelines and at the grocery store and at restaurants.

I used to think only neurotic individuals were concerned over much about food.

Now, I think everyone should be aware of ayurvedic type, blood type, and genotype and food.

I'm an A.  Both of my parents are A+ (so I guess that means I'm also probably positive). Both of my siblings are also As.  My husband is O+. Pretty sure husband's family are all Os. I at least know that his mom was O-.

Actually in all of Europe, except Belgium and the Netherlands, A is the most dominant blood type. In North America O is more numerous due to the origin of settlers.
