I can't begin to say how excited I am about this diet and everything it's done for me!

Let me start off by saying I've been sickly pretty much my entire life. Horrible headaches since I was 5. A very sensitive stomach since I was 7. Chronic fatigue, asthma, anxiety and depression since my teens. I grew up in a family that was all about 'meat and potatoes' and whatever was fast and cheap, so that's what I grew up eating. But the older I got the more stuff started making me sick, I've had such a 'hate-hate' relationship with food since I've been a kid that most people think I have an eating disorder because there's so many things I won't or can't eat. I'd wake up every day thinking 'I'm in my twenties, I should have boundless energy, I should be able to come and go and have fun and have a life'...but I'd be so tired and achy and sick to my stomach it was all I could do to drag out of bed and through my day until I could go back to bed.

About a month ago my youngest sister found out about this diet and sent me some links on it cause she thought it sounded interesting. I'm really big into natural health and all of that, so I figured checking into it certainly wasn't going to hurt me. The more I read though, the more it made total sense to me in terms of the foods that are good and bad for A's. Especially when the foods that I like best are pretty much all good for us, and the stuff that makes me sickest is all 'avoids'. My body already knew what it needed, it just needed me to slow down enough to listen to it.

Now, a month later I've been eating what I should and cutting out all the 'avoids' all I can say is WOW!!! I eat and I don't feel sick afterwards. I actually like to eat now, which is a first for me. I've only had one headache since I started (as opposed to every day like before), I have more energy then I know what to do with so I've been able to start exercising again and most of my anxiety has faded too. Everyone I know has commented on how much I've perked up lately, and how I look much healthier then I have in a very long time!

It's just amazing to think I was never as sick as I thought I was, I was just poisoning myself with my food choices. So yes, another firm convert here, and tons of hugs and love to my sister for finding this and for Dr D for creating this and giving me my life! So THIS is what mid-twenties is supposed to feel like!  ;D

you think now is great? just wait...it gets better! i was not that bad mostly becuse my family ate pretty well when i was a kid (for Os) the first couple of months my energy spiked so that even my work mates noticed. i emmagen you are underweight from your comment, i was over. after six months the weight started melting off and it is still going. gaining is always easier than lossing so don't get too carried away with that wonderful food.  ;D

Wow...first of all, thanks to everyone for the warm welcome!

Lola: Yes, that'll be one of the next steps for me. I've only just dipped my toes into the lifestyle and everything, I wanted to just try the eating at first to see if it'd even help me but now that it does I'm going to be going further into all of this. And sent your hug to my sister too!

DenverFoodie: Thanks, and I'm excited for where I'll be in six months or a year or so down the line!

battle dwarf: Yeah, one of my biggest problems has been keeping weight on, but I've noticed I've put on a few pounds and am looking better now. But I am being careful with portion control and making sure to exercise and all that too! My family's pretty cool now about a lot of that, they're getting more into natural stuff and organics but this didn't really happen until I was about 15/16 but it's good to see them getting into better choices too.

And thanks again to all of you, so cool to be around friendly and supportive people all going for the same thing I am!

Welcome TheLori to the BTD/GTD forum and this way of life.   Wonderful to hear that you are on the mends with this way of eating.  Like DenverFoodie mentioned...wait until you are down the road even more.  It is amazing.  I am with Lola on the secretor status.  It is a big one to find out.  Especially if you are a nonnie.  Keep up the great work and keep us posted.

The body is biased towards health.. quote from Dr. D'Adamo. All you needed to do was show it the way.

So glad you found this before you did too much damage. :)

Once again thanks to everyone who took the time to make me feel so welcomed!

Heading out in the morning to a conference with my mom in Oregon for a few days, then as we're moving, after that up to Seattle to house-hunt. So we'll see how I do for about a week on fast food and eating out. Figure if worse comes to worse, I can get a salad pretty much everywhere and most hotel breakfasts usually have fruit and oatmeal and such...so we'll see how this goes!
