Hello,

I have just found out I am a type O Non-Secretor.  Unhappy because it means that my food selections are even grimmer.  Can anyone tell me where I can find a list of foods that are okay?  Thank you.

Frustrated type O.

How do you know they are grimmer if you don't know where to find the list?  You now have found another key to creating quality in your life.  Use it to open doors not lock yourself out.   ;)

Swami will give you more flexibility in keeping on your diet.

I bake Amaranth/Quinoa/Teff muffins to keep the temptation of eating bad grains to a minimum.  Since bad grains can strip my intestinal wall like a bottle of drain opener, this is not an inconsiderable issue.

The real key for me is that "Low fat means low taste."  If you are looking to loose weight, getting enough fatty fish, olive oil, and ghee will keep you feeling full with good nutritional food.

I used to love and live on macaroni and cheese.  That is part of what got me within spitting distance of 400 lbs.

O Nonnie was good, but I lost 60 lbs on Swami with a little supplementation and no exercise.  Swami is like a high powered sniper rifle, and makes the BTD look like just "any old rifle."  Swami can "hit the egg without budging the hen."  You can go and try the pea shooters that Weight Watchers et al supply any day of the week.

The trouble is that diet products are just fish.  The diet advice you can get here is like downloading the experience of a great fisherman.  You will "fish" better for the rest of your life.

Since we "fish" every day, we might as well do it right.   :)

I agree with the others, finding out you are a non-secretor can be a blessing or a curse, depending on how you look at it! I have embraced it, because now I know even more about what is going on inside of me. And I love my foods! I would also consider investing in SWAMI, my list is wonderful. I'd also suggest taking a look at Live Right 4 Your Type if you haven't already, it has more information on secretor status.

::) Never quite looked at it that way but you're right!! ;) Nonniehood gives me the ability & the need to be more selective with what I eat, which ultimately leads to better healing ;)

Yep, yep, yep.  Soooooo true policychecker...once you get your head wrapped around it...all is well.  At least now you know why you have certain ailments and how to help fix them.  :D

Hey, as a non-secretor you get to eat lentils, coconut oil, and avocados, all of which are no-nos for O secretors!

Yep, Ruthie's right - I can't tell you how happy I was when I found out I could have all these adored foods again (clap)(dance)

Us nonnies also age better (apparently) and are less subject to common colds and flu  ;)

Welcome to the Nonnie Clubhouse Xplorer!

MMMM avocado! When I started telling my mom about the BTD, I hesitated before telling her about the plantain avoid. She grew up in Jamaica and was raised, and raised my brother and I, on plantains, nearly every day of my childhood if we were eating at home. She's pretty much given them up now, but one of the other foods she absolutely adores is avocado (they call it "pear" in Jamaica). She's hoping she's a non-secretor like me (and I think she is), so she can enjoy it too! :)

Weird thing is, while growing up, it seemed like I had plenty of colds, but I am pretty sure they were allergies (milk, wheat, dust, pollen etc)
