I ALWAYS wake up needing to go to the toilet! I always have, since I stopped wetting the bed at age 7. If the bathroom is occupied, I'd rather stay in bed a few more minutes than get up and not be able to pee immediately.

My kids aren't like this. It's always amazed me, how they can wake up and start watching TV or playing on the computer and 'forget" to pee.

I usuallly sleep late, or wake up on time with difficulty. Since having kids I've been a lot better about getting up when needed and NOT hitting the snooze button 5 times before getting out of bed, but naturally my body is slow with transitions- it's hard for me to fall asleep and hard for me to wake up.

I'm trying to both eat and live according to Dr. D's recomendations, but I'm certainly not perfect. I've been in dietary limbo the past couple of weeks, trying to decide between BTD and GTD, and eating a whole lot of "sometimes foods" over the holidays, but for the most part I follow the diet. The lifestyle part is hard for me- Os are supposed to exercise a lot, but I have fibromyalgia and can't do strenuous exercises right now. I'm definitely doing my best to exercise as much as I'm able to, but it's still far less than Dr. D. recomends for my type.

I interpreted that to mean "I eat right" meaning I follow one of Dr. D's dietary plans (BTD, GTD, or SWAMI) and "I live right" to mean following Dr. D's other lifestyle tips, such as exercise type and frequency.

sorry voted before I read

Any way during summer I wake with an urge to pee
right now I wake up With a need to stay in bed
It has to do with me getting a bit too late to bed ( work evenings) and have to get up early with my daughter.
However in a months time or so I´ll wake up energized again.

Generally have to pee RIGHT NOW when I wake up :)

I sleep about six-seven hours or so, then I'm up and ready to face the day. A brief nap later in the afternoon works out well. I'm usually in bed by 9 and up by 4. I love the early morning hours--the house is quiet and I can spend an hour or two writing in the silence, watching the sun rise. :) Sleeping in makes me tired and cranky, so I don't do it unless I'm sick or really hurting.

Yes, you are right Isa. For the last few years menopause (and work-related stress) has really disrupted my sleep cycles and my adrenals have suffered to some extent, but there doesn't seem to be any way around this problem at the moment.

I usually wake up around 1 a.m. and it takes me a while to fall back asleep. I used to turn on the light and read, but that just made things worse. So now I just lie in bed and rest until sleep comes back. That has helped quite a bit with fatigue. Adrenal stress has gone down to some degree too, I think.

I do take valerian and on occasion, melatonin. Both are very helpful in getting me to sleep and helping me go back to sleep when I wake up in the night. Melatonin in particular always helps me get more restorative sleep, but I try not to take it too much so that my body stops producing it.

As long as I get to bed early, I feel good. Staying up much past 9 makes me way too tired in the morning.

At the moment, no. My knees have been giving me a lot of trouble since last fall and I got out of the habit of exercising--very foolish. I'm easing back into it with some low-impact yoga postures and isometric exercises. I also just bought a 'crunchless abs' DVD, we'll see how that works out. I've used Linda LaRue's routines before and she's great at getting you moving even when you're not very mobile.

Usually the urge to pee is what wakes me up.  On the weekends I go back to sleep.  On work days, I hit the snooze alarm a couple of times before running to the potty. What foods I eat are according to my Swami.  I didn’t choose “live” because I exercise to my own routine & eat 1 portion or serving of something at a time.  The # of servings I eat per day may not match.

gosh i wake up with simotanose and equely urgent needs to pee and drink and sometimes can't decide what to do first! as for the late sleeping i generaly don't get out of bed before 8 or 9am but then i don't get to bed (from work) untill 2 or 3 am the same day. as for eating and living... i'm doing my best. it is not easy to get good food hear( doing better now i order foods off line) and my time schedule makes living harder, but i do my best. it will be easier with spring, the cold makes me want to hibernate.

hope you get to sleep off the needed hours during the weekend to regulate your Arcadian rhythm, so you experience no sign of adrenal fatigue later on in life!

sleep on the weekend? what a novel idea (breaks into histerical lauphter) i work on the week ends. monday is my friday, day is my night. i take b12 and prenatle pills just becuse they are better than regular vite complexes. i usuly get 7to8 hours unless i end up getting up earlylike 7am. latly i have slept more but it is a mixter of depression and weather doing that. i am sick to death of winter.

I would kill to get 7 hours a night, or even 1 night a week. I'm lucky if I get 5 hours with intervals. Can't remember the last time I slept for more then 4 hours in a row.

I've always woken up quite easily.  Have children through the years has made me take a big detour of that habit but eventually I naturally go back to waking early with the urge to use the bathroom.  Many times I'll drink a large glass of water just before going to sleep.  It's as good as an alarm clock.
I chose that I lived according to Dr. D's plan.  I figure that you're eating right as well if you're living it.

I for a long time woke up every 45 minutes.. then I drank peppermint tea for 6 weeks and noticed that since then

now l wake up ever 1.5 hours at least or sometimes even after 3 hours top.... I wake up bright eyed and bushytailed even in the middle of the night.. but Ialso can got o sleep every time I go horizonatal

I can't remember the last time I got a good nights rest, without drugs like ambien and really is that any good for ya?  So I don't sleep well.  I can't fall asleep, usually fighting to nod off and if I do fall asleep I am a light sleeper.  I am hoping that my sleeping will get better for me now that I am trying to take better care of myself (supplement wise).  I eat right, no problem there.  I just need to get my body into a rhythum that works for sleeping.  When John was home I slept much better than I do now.

When I wake up in the morning, I want to pee first before anything else.

Most of my sleeping problems started when I was flying.  All the crazy schedules, duty days 12-14 hours,... rest periods 8 hours (only because they are mandated by that FAA).  And really no one gets 8 hours of rest on an 8 hour overnight.  Takes an hour to get to the hotel checked in and settled, then another 30 min to get to sleep IF your lucky (I'm not) and then it takes an hour in the morning to get ready and another 30-45 min van ride to the AP.  So if I am doing the math correctly, if one is lucky to fall asleep quickly and stay asleep they will get 5-6 hours of rest to go back and do another 12 -14 hour duty day again.  And passengers wonder why flight crews are so grouchy these days.  Ahhhhh the glamour of being a flight attendant.  Glorified, aircraft cleaners, trash collectors, junk food sales people and rule enforcement officers.  It's no wonder I drop all my trips to those that want them or take voluntary leaves when they are offered.

I wake up every few hours and have my entire life - even with sleeping pills. If I know that I need to get up at a certain time, I set my alarm and wake up about 10 minutes before!
( I almost never wake up to the sound of an alarm)

every few hours? 10, 8, 6, 4, 2? Just curious ...  i will also wake up before the alarm , but not when the alarm comes to me!!!  :)... in the form of my puppy.  Luckily she regulates herself pretty well and times the break to be not earlier than 4ish in the morning!!!!

I've got an alarm clock that I can't turn off too.  His name is Cowboy.  He's regular; every morning right at the crack of dawn.  Although I'm a lot like you Meghan in that if I do set the clock I turn the alarm off before it sounds.    

Finally sleeping through most nights now.  Only getting up for the occasional bathroom break these nights lately.  

I had a bottle of wine with a friend last night over an amazing dinner.  I attribute my two interruptions last night to the extra glass (or two) of vino.  I'll take it though.  I woke up with a glucose level of 79 which is outstanding as for as my data collecting goes thus far on my journey.

Thanks Cristina!  You've been a true inspiration for me here. Thanks for all the encouraging words and seeds of wisdom you've planted my way.  

Yeah, 79 is a far cry from the 105 I received back on May 8th or thereabouts.  I cannot wait to show my GP the data I've collected over the past 4 weeks.  I have a feeling she'll refuse to believe the actual numbers just as she believed I was better off using the antacids than I was w/o taking them.   ::)  

I'm eternally grateful to Dr D and all the contributors here.  Without your support I have a feeling I would have continued to trust my intuition (and previous belief system) and not tried the mentioned remedies which have turned my life around.  

My friend called me today to say "Rob, I'm so proud of you.  You are a different person than what you've been over the last 17 years I've know you.  I wouldn't believe it if I hadn't seen it with my own eyes."  

I cannot begin to tell you what that phone call meant to me.  This is the same person that said "I'm not so sure about your 'lil blood type' diet just a couple weeks ago.  

I want no credit except for having the faith it took to step out and try a different method.  Peter deserves the credit for the research and decades of dedication to the effect.  His publishers are genius for presenting the material in a cohesive and comprehensible manner.  

I knew the first time I grabbed that book from my MD friend's bookshelf that I had found the key that unlocks the mystery behind me.

Honestly, I really never trusted her.  Once she said I'd have to be on meds the rest of my life I knew she was playing with a different deck of cards than the ones in my hand.  

I knew my cat's diabetes condition was controlled with diet.... why, on earth, couldn't mine be?

This is like the natural practitioner that told me "You can eat anything you want as long as you take the supplements I recommend."  Like why would I want to take a handful of supplements twice a day when I should be able to eat differently to control some of this?  This was before I knew anything about BTD, but if she can recommend supplements, why can't I eat some of that instead of taking the pills?

apparently they've found that wine doesn't raise blood sugar...... as grape juice would....the sugar has been turned to alcohol which is metabolized by a different pathway...

I agree with their findings.    

I'm certain a couple glasses of red wine with my nightly dinner has attributed to my declining waking blood glucose numbers.  Just weeks ago, I had trouble entertaining the idea of drinking wine while trying to lower my BG numbers.  ;D
