Greetings and good afternoon everyone.

Today I got the test results of saliva (napreport), I'm 0 Non-secretor.

I would appreciate if someone could guide me, with links if available, regarding:

1 .- disadvantages and advantages if there are some, of being 0 Non-secretor.
2 .- what precautions should I take,
3 .- if there is more information on lifestyle and
4 .- ideal food for a 0 Non-secretor.

Very grateful in advance for your valuable responses.

As an O non-secretor I've noticed (compared to my O secretor family members) that I have to watch my sugar intake, including beneficial sweeteners.  We have more issues with H. pylori and candida.  As long as you're compliant though, it should be smooth sailing!

Os and non-secretors have a higher risk for ulcers:

Thanks Eric, although I was 20 years without sugar, I have Candida Krusei, too many antibiotics, and corn oil and flour for breakfast with my eggs and vegetables in the past.

Lola, always so thoughtful, thanks. I am following your advices from other posts:

I get up and drink 2 glasses of water with 2 capsules of Polyflora O. Later I breakfast with veal, eggs or fish and steamed  allowed vegetables and take 2 capsules of: Polyvite, Deflect, Phytocal.

I have vegetable soup with beef or chicken or meat or fish grilled or fried and sauteed vegetables for lunch with 2 tablets for the bone system that I brought from South America along with 1 capsule of Connectivar and Phloxicin.

As snack in the afternoon I have some almonds, hazelnuts and walnuts. I also take Bromelain 2 or 3 times a day.

After a month I'm starting to eat some allowed fruit.

At dinner, mixed vegetable sauté with some fish or a can of tuna or cod if I do not have fresh. I know that Dr. D'Adamo do not recommends canned or frozen food, I do it seldom. And I take a tablet of Calcium/Magnesium with Vitamin C and B1 to sleep better.

During this month with every meal I take 2 tablets of Pau D'Arco and  about 7 drops of grapefruit seed extract in half glass of water.

One day I swim and the other day I trainning with Isometric machines with little weight to protect the joints.

I have books of Arthritis and Aging with Cook Right 4 Your Type, I have  not bought Live Right 4 Your Type, but I have The GenoType Diet in Spanish.

Lola,

1.- Wouldn't be better to read The GenoType Diet and to purchase the SWAMI GenoType Software and go to the GenoType personalized Diet once for all?

I see how devastating it is to be O non-secretor and not knowing how to eat properly, when I see how sick and handicapped is my mother.

Since receiving the test results, non-secretor, I felt quite discouraged, I know that I should not, but I have 2 days and today had a lot to work to do but I went for a long walk on the edge of cliffs to see the sea.

Reflecting on the link of Dr. D'Adamo about the non-secretors, I wondered:

2 .- Why so many disadvantages for a non-secretor?
3 .- We should have a strong point that we may use to promote our survival, which is it?

For now those are unanswered questions in my mind. At least now: cavities, urine infections and colds, Candida, the exhaustion, the knee problem, etc, everything has a logical and scientific explanation. And I know that I am in the little group of fortunate people that can see the light, even if I am still trying to learn what to do.

For 14 years I took almost daily 800 IU of E and my doctor complained that I should not, and since I cicatrized very quickly, I continued taking it. I suspended E when I read ER4YT, but now I suspect E should not be bad for me and I wonder:

4.- If I can take at least 1 capsule of 400 IU of E per day?, because the Polyvite does not have it.

If anyone knows the answers to questions 1, 2, 3  and 4 I would appreciate your valuable information and thanks again for your great support and patience.

joejac~ I'm really not yet at a level of knowledge to answer you questions, however there are many here who are and will do so for you...

I will tell you being a O nonnie brother, I was also very dissapointed when I found out I am a non secretor. It took me a few days to come to terms and accept it. I hope you too will be ok with it in time. Once you arrive in being able to accept it you will just move on taking better care of yourself due to your greater knowledge of who you are and what you must do for you...

This might not be much consolation, however it does allow us to make much healthier choices now that we know.

I wish you the blessings of acceptance ~ the sooner the better :)

your blood antigen is not abundant in your secretion....meaning you are more prone to disease, no antibodies readily available from the start to combat an intruder....

joejac...once you get on with eating on BTD, the way we nonnies are supposed to, it is amazing how you feel.  And more amazing on GTD. :D   Yes...we fall sometimes and that's all part of it.  It gives us the opportunity to know what good health feels like and to make our own decisions on how we want to feel.   We all have a wonderfully supportive blood type family here and there is always someone who can help...or get it. ;)  We are all here for you.   Anything you want to know...just ask.

Hello everyone and thank you very much for your words of support and encouragement.

I have 4 days taking 400 UI of Vitamin E: one day E the other day Omega 3 alternated, I sleep better and breathe better in this cold winter.

I also began to eat some fruit per day including one tangerine, how nice, hummm, I always loved tangerines and strawberries. For tomorrow I will have one big strawberry.

I used to eat a lot of them in the past, now I will have them in a very little amount, and only occasional. I did not feel any bad in my stomach when I had the tangerine, I have never suffered from stomach acidity, only a little bit when I had 7-8 tangerines at once in those very hot days in South America.

By the way Lola, the Vitamin E is from GNC Natural E 400, it says: "100% combined tocopherols, Other Ingredients:  Gelatin, Soybean Oil, Glycerin No Sugar, No Starch, No Artificial Color, No Artificial Flavors, No Preservatives, Sodium Free, No Wheat, No Gluten, No Corn, No Dairy, Yeast Free."

I understand soy is not recommended for O nonies, for this reason I decided to take it one day and one not. If this Vitamin E is still risky please let me know.

As soon as I end with my work I will try the GTD.

I came across this information that indicates type Os should not take Vit E.  ::) This information was posted by long time BTDer Suzanne Graham (type O) who quotes Dr D as not recommending Vit E for blood type Os and here is why:

joejac~ many of us experienced the same feelings. What I realized was until I became compliant which number one gave me something positive to focus on and also something to campare to, then I could make choices I felt prudent for me...

You too are able to make choice for you, however I would suggest to be sure to get all the "input" so you are able to make good decisions for you whatever that might be...

I have some questions:

Based on  this reference and that I cicatrize very quickly, I began to take vitamin E and given the fact that these days I got more tired and hungry. I do not know if this has to do with the weather, very cold, or the allowed fruit that I began to take one week ago, I had strawberry only today and one tangerine 4 days ago, or the vegetables that now I cooked them with heat or steamed, not sauté in olive oil like those past months.

I am also taking my second bottle of Pau D'Arco against Candida, 2 tablets with each meal, plus the O polyflora, O vitamins, O minerals and the O protocol for the knee, a lot of stuff. Perhaps the tired and hungry feeling has to deal with Candida die off, who knows.

1.1 Am I doing wrong assuming that Vitamin E could help O nonies?, based on the above reference.

2.- I know one lab in Spain do an intolerance test to food, and issues a report in a form of table with the good and the bad food for the person tested. I do not know if this is valid since the BTD point of view, but it would be good to have one lab test like this but based on the BTD and/or GTD.

2.1.- Is there a way to know which are the good and bad food for the person tested with a blood sample?

2.2.- The Swami is a nice computer software, but would not be more accurate to test the blood response to the lectins of the food spectrum?

Thanks a lot for any data on these points, it looks to me that each person of a particular blood type might have some differences in the way he/she react to some foods compared with the other members of same blood type group.

Some times I feel l need more data in this path to eat right. During the previous 2 months I think I was 100% compliant, always checking this site before buying new food to eat, to ensure it was ok, but I still have many days of tiredness and hungry. I was a complete month with no carbohydrates even with no allowed fruits, due to the Candida problem, and that was not easy.

As far as food intolerance tests go, for most people they are probably unnecessary.  But, if you've been following the diet closely for a long period of time and still feel that there's something in your diet causing problems it maybe helpful to do one.  wwbailey had one done for IBS and found intolerances to bananas and a few other things.  When he eliminated those foods he found relief.

Hello Joejac

The lectin agglutination reaction - one of the bases for the Eat Right For Your Type diet - is a reaction between:

1 food
2 blood
3 specific tissue (liver, muscle, joint gap, intestinal wall, etc

As such, it is much more specific than any food/blood testing.  Taking blood out of your body for testing creates a different condition than in you body.  Your blood particles are in constant contact with each other, and with the body parts that they serve.

This raises some doubts in my mind as to the depth of blood/food testing.  The test for agglutination is much more specific.  If a food agglutinates your blood in one tissue, it will weaken the health of your whole body through that pathway.

I am raising questions here - not giving answers.  There are deeper levels of personalization in Dr. D' Adamo's health system that may address your needs better and give you different food choices.

Hello and thanks a lot to everybody.

First Merry Christmas and a Very Happy New year for all :)

Due to I was 14 years taking  800 UI Vitamin E almost daily, now I fell a little insecure with almost 3 months not taken it, I had it just for 4 days and I stopped after reading your answers.

I have read from various sources that vitamins and mineral need a right proportion among them inside the body, and that a imbalance on one vitamin or mineral can cause and artificial deficiency on others. I am concerned because in the past I cicatrized very quick, but now when I shave and I got a little cut, it drops a tiny blood drop and cicatrize in a couple of seconds, is amazing, it is extremely fast.

I can not follow Lola's recommendation because I get constipated very strongly with lemon.

Also due to my Candida Krusei problem I am only eating animal protein and vegetables, no fruit, no grains at all, even no millet, that I felt very comfortable with it in the past. When I get the starving feeling too strong, after eating, I only get additional walnuts and almonds.

Before discovering the Candida I was thinking  in purchasing the Swami software in order to have a more personalized diet, but now I do not think is the right moment since I am forced to eat only animal protein and vegetables.

My questions, and sorry to insist with vitamin E:

1.- Is there a vitamin E provider that do not use avoid material for O's?

I can see the theory of lectin agglutination inside a tissue, but:

2.- Is there more documentation and an in depth explanation on the process that uses Dr. D'Adamo to discover when a particular food is Beneficial, Neutral or Avoid for a particular blood type?

I still do not understand how he discovers:
2.1- first that the agglutination has occurred, some times could be obvious, with a leaky nose but not always and
2.2- second which food caused it.

Thanks a lot for any insight in those questions and the related references.
