Does anyone have a BMI chart and how to calculate one's BMI for guidance..?

The formula is

weight in pounds/height in inches2x703

or the metric version

weight in kilograms/height in meters2

remember to multiply weight in pounds by 2.2 to convert to kilograms for metric version
height in inches multiply by 2.54 to get to centimeters. convert centimeters to meters
Example: 63 inches is 160 cm. 160 cm would be 1.6 meters. 1.62 is 2.56

And here is a slideshow of various people with different BMIs... to show that BMI is pretty screwed up a lot of the time! If a person is athletic (or otherwise has lots of muscle), they need a different, personalized BMI calculator, because even a lean, trim, and fit but very muscular person can show up as overweight or even obese, based solely on weight and height.  :(

After I did my BMI and considered what weight it indicated I should be I have to question it...
BMI is a very crude tool. It was originally intended for researchers doing general population studies, not as a diagnosic tool.

BMI does take into account the fact that a 6'7" tall man should weigh more than a 5'4" tall man, but it doesn't take anything else into account: body frame, muscle mass, etc. Some people have big bones and SHOULD weigh more. Others have a slight frame and should weigh less.

At my own "healthiest adult weight" I was just barely in the "healthy weight" range. Even underweight, I'd still be in the middle of the healthy range, not in the "underweight" range. My current BMI calls me "obese" when I'm not currently having any health problems associated with my weight. I did have problems when I was 20 lbs heavier, and I think I was "obese" then. Even if I get down to what I consider a realistic weight, I'll still be in the "overweight' range, just barely out of the "obese" range.  The charts simply do NOT take into account my body frame. I have a much "stockier" build than most people.

Mass is proportional to size x size x size.  An individual twice the height, thickness, and width would be 8 times the mass of the smaller.

According to my BMI, I was dead 3 years ago.  What else would you call it, if you are beyond the last category, which is morbidly obese?

i prefer body fat %..BMI is not an accurate way to tell. My body fat % is 18. My husband's is 17 % but BMI has him as morbidly obese.

He has my sympathy.  Even if I got down to 220 lbs the BMI would say I am a little overweight.  At 220 I would look kind of like Jim Carrey ('cept I have a chin)!   ;D
